By Chris Schultz and Frank Vajcner
Each week, Chris and Frank will give their thoughts on our blog teams. For the most part, one will generally keep things on the rails, while the other goes a little off the wall. We once again expanded outside of the blog area this week.
Blog Teams:
Flat Rock
Frank: No need to hang your heads, Flat Rock. The Mighty Rams aren’t going away anytime soon.
Chris: Rams had historic back-to-back seasons. Sometimes the other team is just better.
SMCC
Frank: That one wasn’t as dramatic as five years ago for the Falcons. It was still a banner day for them (and the Kestrel volleyball team).
Chris: I told you people! Ford Field bound!
Other Semifinals:
Frank: Unless you went to Cass Tech, you did not have them beating Detroit Catholic Central.
Chris: Got a text from my guy Derrick after CT won. His son Derrick Jackson III is a stud for the Technicians.
Frank: Hudsonville-Cass Tech will be a first time meeting. I wonder what Kanon Dean will have as a spread for that one.
Chris: Seems like a pick’em game to me.
Frank: None of our picks in D2 made it to Ford Field.
Chris: Nobody is perfect.
Frank: I did say on Bring The Wood a while back that OLSM could go on a run like 1983 NC State Basketball. The Eaglets will have to keep Byron Center QB from accounting for six TDs.
Chris: I’m excited to watch that game.
Frank: Zeeland West, baby! Quack, Quack, Mother Hubbards!!! (Apologies to Nick Gawura).
Chris: Defense travels!
Frank: Yes, I was the only one to pick Zeeland West to win it all. They can beat King.
Chris: Frank just likes ducks (dux), I like turtles.
Frank: Niles just scored again. Maybe it was Scot Shaw being back at his old stomping grounds to give the Vikings a spark.
Chris: Is Niles in Indiana or Michigan?
Frank: Goodrich gets revenge on Harper Woods.
Chris: Not sad that Harper Woods lost.
Frank: Notre Dame Prep is a wagon. Playing Frankenmuth will be a doozy though.
Chris: Speed kills
Did anyone besides us guys from Bring The Wood know that Lumen Christi and Lansing Catholic used to be conference rivals?
Millington is making their first appearance at Ford Field. They are 0-1 all time against SMCC.
Frank: None of us got Division 8 right. Both semifinals were nail biters.
Chris: I picked the Pioneers to win. At least that is half right.
Bonus:
Make sure you listen to Bring The Wood. Also make sure to rate, review, and subscribe.
Frank: Yes, I will be at Ford Field on Saturday. Where exactly is to be determined.
Chris: Looks like I’ll be at Ford Field early on both days, 9:30 am seems kind of early to play a game.
Frank: It feels weird that basketball tips off on Tuesday. I’ll be on the mic as Bedford hosts Fenton.
Chris: ….and I’ll be at Taylor High School watching my Lakers.
Frank: We are on to Indianapolis. And then hosting Chicago on Thanksgiving.
Chris: Former ATA Laker Sam Womack playing for Indy today. I thought about taking the family to the Thanksgiving Day game, $2,800 for 4 mediocre tickets was outrageous.
From all of us at FNV, we would like to wish all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving!
I’ll say this again after what I saw Saturday Hines and Linzell are dawgs they both run with power and from what it looks like when one gets tired the other goes in and can do the same gives a Gibbs & Montgomery look love to see the falcons advance tho keep it up boys…
Youre leaving out the teams leading rusher in Harris.. and Reinhardt.
I’ll go as far to say this-SMCC could have the 3 best RB’s in the league in Harris, Hines, and Linzell. All the credit to that offensive line though!
Both are very good. Harris is the best pure RB on the team. He’s the difference maker on offense. He will be an AP all state RB! Mark it down. Go falcons!
It’s gonna be a good matchup this weekend between Harris and Millington’s RB-that kid looks like a stud too. Hopefully we can shut him down. I don’t think that kid knows how hard he’s gonna be hit Saturday morning though.
The Monroe Catholic Crusaders won their Detroit CYO championship at 9:00 in the morning. Now it’s time for varsity to win the State Championship at 9:30 in the morning! LFG!!!
What team is that you’re talking about?
8th grade MCES Crusaders
Byron Center has ties to the Huron League. Coached by Marc “Zeke” Cisco.
I wonder if they run the RIP fly 45??
Happy Thanksgiving, guys.
Appreciate all that you do promoting the game in the area. It’s also nice for us old timers who aren’t around to keep up.
Good Luck Falcons!
I think NDP smacks Frankenmuth. NDP shut out GRCC earlier in the season, and Frankenmuth just played CC in a tight game. NDP by 3 scores.
Smacks?
I’d take that bet.
D5 final should be a doozy.
Big difference between week 3 and week 12. GRCC had their youngest team in years. They beat West Catholic in the playoffs. It could be argued that Frankenmuth is the favorite on Saturday.
Happy Thanksgiving to all FNV readers and staff.
Special shoutout to all the coaches and kids who play this game and make it possible!
