  1. Like I preached all year SMCC is A DEFENSIVE TEAM the o got all the hype but the numbers don’t lie cc held millington to 10 till the 4th and well the o well idk

    1. I think they’re great in pass coverage, but their weakness is getting smashed with the run because they are undersized. The key is, don’t fumble and they can’t stop it.

  2. The Falcons had a great year. A number of key players will return next year, and should be very competitive, if not better.
Just ran into a better team

  3. SMH…
Not sure why, if you’re a 2014 fan, ex-player, or just a hater calling yourself a “kestrel,” you feel the need to downplay the talent of the 2024 team. They worked hard all year and ran into a team that simply had their number. There’s no shame in losing in the state championship.
The 2014 (13-1) team had a fantastic year and finally secured the ring that eluded 3 other teams before ’91 (13-0). And let’s not forget the 6 teams that reached the semifinals but couldn’t make it to Ford Field. All these teams were great in their own right, representing different eras of football.
One last thing… @ BURT: If your team had 9 semifinal appearances, 4 state runner-ups, and 2 state championships all with the T! You might feel differently.

    1. They line up and everyone in the stadium knows it’s a run. What determines the success is fundamental stuff like blocking. There’s nothing magical about it. They fake handoff in the passing league spread too. Parity is what makes football boring. I prefer the power running attacks of the I and T. Why would any team use a system they don’t have the players for?

    1. This is exactly the type of overhype that didn’t help this year. Obviously cc was good, but not state good. They just weren’t.

  4. Smcc played well

Biggest issue in the beginning was they couldn’t win the field position battle and eventually lead to a bend and break situation

Add the turnover and the o line struggling to get a push, I also felt like this team didn’t run anyone over they seemed more concerned with getting an edge instead of driving up field never planted and turned up always looked for a edge

It was a slow bleed but a few moments where the game could have turned around but In all closer then the score indicated

Should been a fumble and a 17-0 finale but it is what it is

  5. Nice run cc, just be happy JLC upped a division and you made it to FF.. as far as hype, I hope we tune it down a bit in the future and be realistic about team talent and how difficult (easy) of a schedule they have.. those calling cc a state champ after 3 weeks in.. time to take off the gold sunglasses and see things as they are. Nice run.

  6. Great season SMCC.
Millington was faster and more physical, they were the better team today.
SMCC runs the T well, one of the problems with it is when you’re down a few scores, you get forced to pass the ball, today resulted in 3 picks.
Getting to the finals is a tremendous feat.

  7. Good second half for Millington. They did exactly what they needed to do. They didn’t hand the falcons the ball and smashed their defense out of the I which is kryptonite for a small, but disciplined team. Avoid getting cute and just physically pound without giving them the ball. I give the SMCC coaching staff credit for doing that much with that team, but today, they ran into a team that was just as talented if not more and didn’t spot them all those mistakes some of the other equally talented teams did. I feel the success of the SMCC team this season is far better than the talent. Another aspect was speed. The falcons are fast, and they play fast, but they aren’t blazing fast and it showed on that running play where they couldn’t run that back down. I’m surprised by the outcome based on how weak the teams were that SMCC played leading up to this. I thought it would probably be a falcons blow out. A sound defeat where neither team made too many game changing mistakes is nothing to feel too bad about.

  8. The CC O-line is getting absolutely NO push. Kipf obviously doesn’t see that Millington has at least 10 guys in the box. He must be really committed to his game plan that hasn’t worked all game.

  9. 10-0 Millington. Live by mistakes, die by mistakes. The Millington defense is rock solid. I didn’t see this coming. 2nd half, will Millington try to pass and potentially lose the game, or just smash the undersized smcc front with the run?

  10. One hour before the biggest game of your life. Remember everything your parents and coaches have taught you. Give it EVERYTHING you’ve got and leave it all on the field. Falcon parents, just remember how much fun this entire ride has been. Now, go get us another championship. Win.
