Week 7 Our Thoughts, Not Yours

By Chris Schultz and Frank Vajcner

Each week, Chris and Frank will give their thoughts on our blog teams. For the most part, one will generally keep things on the rails, while the other goes a little off the wall.

Airport

Frank: Jets cooked up a 60-burger for the first time ever against a Huron League opponent.

Chris: Step 3 of my 4 part prediction is successful.

Bedford

Frank: That will give Bedford some breathing room from the bubble.

Chris: Good win for the Mules.

Carlson

Frank: Marauders still alive for a winner-take-all showdown next week thanks to winning and a win by Trenton.

Chris: I’ll restate a comment by a reader, “how is Woodhaven so bad”?

Dundee

Frank: How ugly will next week be?

Chris: I think that the Vikings will play their best game of the season week 8.

Erie Mason

Frank: A win will come in the final two weeks, but that’s not the way to end the TCC era.

Chris: The Eagles have a chance to end the season on a good note.

Flat Rock

Frank: Run-heavy teams are still the Rams’ kryptonite.

Chris: I have said enough

Grosse Ile

Frank: I’ve said that this might be a historically bad year on The Island.

Chris: I just don’t know what to say.

Huron

Frank: Hopefully next week is at least entertaining.

Chris: Huron/FR week looking eerily similar to 2023

Ida

Frank: Being down 10-8 awoke a sleeping giant.

Chris: Never overlook your rival

Jefferson

Frank: Scoring 43 points and not winning is aggravating.

Chris: I didn’t realize the over/under on the Bears/Jets game was 99

Milan

Frank: Big Reds are on life support.

Chris: It seems like it’s been 40 years since Milan had three losing seasons in a row.

Monroe

Frank: Monroe is also on life support.

Monroe: The Trojans could salvage the season with a victory over Bedford next week.

Riverview

Frank: Pirates get back on track.

Chris: This may be the biggest betting point spread in the history of the Colvin Cup.

SMCC

Frank: A nine-year drought ending is a win away.

Chris: Why do people doubt my picking wisdom?

Summerfield

Frank: Winning a conference title is cool, but winning the last ever conference title is special.

Chris: I’m starting to think that Summerfield is going to be a tough out in the playoffs

Whiteford

Frank: Bobcats are now in jeopardy of finishing with a losing record.

Chris: I will call my shot right now in the week 8 “Battle of the Whites”, Bobcats win!

Bonus:

Frank: Make sure you listen to Bring The Wood. Also make sure to rate, review, and subscribe.

Chris: I agree with Frank. If your a high school football geek, you will like “Bring the Wood”

Frank: Wouldn’t it be funny if Taylor Decker reported as eligible on multiple plays?

Chris: Why would that be funny?

Frank: Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Chris: I agree with Frank again, the Tiger run was a blast and Wednesday’s playoff game with my son was the best time I have had in a while.

  1. Alright I Hava a crazy idea. Since there is so much hatred towards Navarre Field. A field SMCC rents from Monroe Public Schools.
SMCC has been privately raising money to build a new field. From alumni and other donors.
Now families that go to SMCC still pay taxes that fund local public schools. That have “much better football facilities.” due to tax funding.
What if we can get some Navarre Field haters to chip in some donations.
Just thinking even the cost of admission 7.00 a person. So an average family of 4. That’s 28.00 donation.
Now out of appreciation SMCC gives you a voucher in the amount of you donation. For free admission to your teams inaugural game at the new field. Maybe a brick or paver with your name for higher donations.
Just an idea to squash all the Navarre Field hatred once and for all.
    My thoughts not yours

  2. Jefferson’s offense is hot right now they scored 48 against Airport while Smcc only put up 28. I’m telling you this is the upset of the year and Smcc will go into this game with big heads like they did in the Grosse Ile game last year. We will handle business at Navarre for the first time since 2014 where everyone thought that was the best team. Falcons are gonna be in for a rough one.

    1. Great point
Going to be interesting how CC stands up to the big strong O line of the Bears. Bears O is absolutely killing it as of late.

  3. Its rivalry week, Bears vs The Falcons…Now, the question is, who’s Jefferson’s guest speaker this year to pump the Bears up ?
And please post it like last year..
My popcorn and cocktail is waiting impatiently….

    1. Rivalry? It’s not the 90’s. This can’t be considered a rivalry anymore. When’s the last time Jefferson beat SMCC? I’m honestly worried for Luke Beaudrie-SMCC is fast and aggressive.

      1. 2014 was the last time the Bears beart cc 20 – 14 with a back up QB and a bruising FB on Navarre Field on a cold October night in Fun-roe. Hey it’s October the weather is getting colder, they are playing at Navarre Field. Sounds like time for an upset! Go Bears!!!

        1. It was 2016
And yes Humphries was a stud that year.
Cost CC the playoffs, and Jefferson got in the playoffs
Humphries won a state champion in wrestling that winter

  4. I know this is maybe not the correct format, but prayers to Aiden Hutchinson.
He goes hard every play, plays every down.
    Serious injury today.

  5. Chris, Frank, Gary; thank you for all the time you give up to bring support to high school football in our area. I hope kids and their parents realize the extra attention you bring to all these programs. I don’t always agree with you, but it sure as heck gets people excited talking about high school football.

Some random thoughts from this old man.
^Chris is right, Airport is going to win and
^Jeffersons offense makes you wonder what if
^The best QB in the region had an off night but tip of the cap to SMCC. For that night, they were the better team. I am pulling for them going forward.
^Riverview is putting the pieces back together, watch out Gross Ile and Monroe
^I would like to watch a game where Wright from Carlson is healthy.

  6. Hoping for a close game between the two rivals of Dundee and Ida Dundee will need a coach a solid game and limit turnovers while allowing some form of the run game to breathe wouldn’t count them out if ida can stop number 9 it’s over most likely
