    1. NDP would beat SMCC by three touchdowns. Just a different level of football. They had a good game with Lumen and really should have won.

      1. I do not disagree with your logic, but SMCC IMO could play with Lumen as they have in the past with less talented teams.

I think when you’re talking about playoff football, anyone could win on any given night.

Now, this may not be majority opinion, but I think a private school league playoffs would be great football to watch. You would potentially get a SMCC – PNDP matchup.

When you look at the top teams in the state, there would be some intriguing matchups between private schools.

    2. Seems like PNDP & Muth are the teams to beat in D5 this year

I think CC would be an underdog against PNDP, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t match up well. PNDP is a up-tempo RPO style spread team, I think CC could hang.

But that’s a matchup we will not see unless it’s a regular season non-conference

  1. I love the banter on here and appreciate all you guys do to build high school football in this area. I think it will be a pretty uneventful week of football, the only upsets I could see occurring is Clinton over Ida and Detroit Country Day over SMCC. I think Jefferson beats Melvindale as well considering the coaching turnover in the ‘Dale. This season flew by!

  2. Cannot wait to see that battle of south east Michigan this year in division 7. Looks to be Clinton, Hudson, Whiteford ,Hanover vs SMCC as they are for sure the team to beat.

    1. You’re forgetting one of the best and most underrated teams in Michigan: Grosse Ile. They’ve put up fights against Flat Rock, Riverview, SMCC, and Ida. With that kind of schedule, they know they can beat anyone.

      1. 😂 They are 0 and 8. I love optimism but be realistic pal, the only team they’ll beat this year is themselves……

    2. Gary,

Do you see a case where Clinton, Hudson and SMCC are in 3 separate districts. With Jonesville losing would that send Hudson west. Clinton Napoleon Leslie and Bath. Blissfield SMCC Whiteford and Grosse Pointe.

      1. I suppose that’s possible. Snooze has 31 teams correct in D7 I believe. Replace Jonesville with Blissfield. I’ve never tried to predict what the MHSAA will do.

  3. Just curious why you guys think Airport will lose by double digits. Tired legs after an hour long bus ride? I guess Airport is about to surprise you guys. And fyi I’m not an Airport fan, I just know Avondale isn’t that good.

      1. Better wins for Avondale? Lutheran North is their best win, given the Mustangs dispatching of division 5, 7 and 8 opponents in the Catholic Intersectional league. This is all you can hang your hat on?
When the Jets beat Avondale, it might not be the best win for Airport this year. Huron had a close loss to a D1 team, put up 21 on an excellent ‘View defense and played an inspired half against Flat Rock last week.

        1. Huron is not a good football team imo. Lutheran North is a much better football team than that. I want the Jets to win, I just don’t see it, don’t feel they can score enough. It’s not a very good offense on that team. The View defense Huron Put 21 on was the 3’s in the 4th quarter. They were shut out by the 1’s. It was 51-0 at halftime. That was view, before the injuries hit at Flat Rock.

  4. Hey guys.
Assuming Flat Rock beats Clarenceville, who might they play in the district and regional bracket?
Will they get to host ?
    Thanks!

    1. Flat Rock will more than likely host 1 or 2 playoff games, if they win their district, they will more than likely be on the road for regionals.

Will depend how MHSAA breaks up the Detroit & Metro area, there are a lot of possibilities. A lot could depend on bubble teams getting in as well.

    1. regular season (neutral field)
      [2024] St. Mary Catholic Central (Monroe, MI) 38 (>99%), [2024] Monroe (MI) 0 (<1%)

      1. Yikes so I guess we can all agree that when people talk about football in monroe they are talking about the Falcons not Trojans
