The Bedford Kicking Mules rallied from a 21-10 deficit to secure a hard-fought 24-21 victory over the Ypsilanti Lincoln Railsplitters in a nail-biting contest.
Bedford dominated the first quarter, with Jacob Spoonmore’s 1-yard rush and Jack Decker’s subsequent PAT giving them a 7-0 lead. Decker extended the advantage with a 38-yard field goal, making it 10-0.
However, Lincoln responded strongly in the second quarter, with Greg Meyers’ 80-yard rush and Carter Lamb’s PAT narrowing the gap to 10-7. Meyers then connected with Carson Greene for a 64-yard touchdown pass, and Lamb’s PAT put the Railsplitters ahead 14-10. Giovanni Miller’s 13-yard rush further stretched Lincoln’s lead to 21-10.
Undeterred, Bedford fought back in the third quarter. Isaac Henman’s 19-yard rush and Decker’s PAT reduced the deficit to 17-21.
In the fourth quarter, Braylon Gilsdorf’s 1-yard rush put the Kicking Mules ahead, and Decker’s PAT sealed the 24-21 victory.
The Kicking Mules’ victory improves their record to 3-2, setting them up for their game at undefeated Saline next week.
