Game Day Bites

For the first installment of our new feature, Game Day Bites, FNV traveled to Johnnie’s Bar & Grill in Clinton Michigan.

Upon entering, Jeff Grodi and I were greeted by Ian, an energetic bar tender, whom quickly had us seated. Within seconds, I had a COLD(very important) bottle of Bud, in front of me. We were both hungry… so GAME ON!

Jeff soon ordered the “Ecorse Edge”. A 1/2 pound burger topped with onion rings and chili. Jeff got all the fixings. He added home cut fries to his order, cooked to a perfect crisp. Jeff commented on the fries, “finding the right balance of a crisp exterior and a light interior can be tricky, but Johnnie did it!”. The burger was cooked well upon request, yet was still juicy and delicious.

I went with the “Waterview Windsor”. A 1/2 pound burger topped with bacon and fried egg. The burger was cooked to a medium doneness and once again was extra plump and juicy. I knew right away I made the right choice, of many, as I took the first bite. I felt like I needed to cut it in half, but I just dove right in, and once again, it was an excellent burger.

Johnnie’s is known for it’s wide variety of specialty burgers, along with it’s Super sized portion of nachos. This thing could literally fill a garbage can lid. Just enormous. Topped with anything and everything.

Johnnie’s is also known for it’s wide array of draft beer. The selection pictured, is rotated throughout the month. I’m not much of a special draft or IPA guy, so I can’t comment on anything to the left.. other than the cold bottle of Bud.

  1. R Osborne, thanks, but you know if there is one thing I love in life, it is good food, and that is one thing I’m pretty serious about lol. I had fun being invited to participate in the review and look forward to helping others find dining establishments for their pregame enjoyment on Friday nights prior to watching their favorite high school football team home or away!

  2. This is the content you love to see. There is nothing better than a sports bar and small town Friday night football. Good work Gary
