The Erie Mason Eagles suffered a tough 37-8 loss to Northwood. Northwood led 8-0 at halftime and pulled away with three scores in the third quarter, taking a commanding 30-0 lead.
Logan Goodin was a standout for the Eagles, rushing for 170 yards on 24 carries and adding 26 receiving yards. He also contributed 8 tackles on defense. Sophomore Blake Herrera impressed with two interceptions in just his third high school game.
Kaleb Pope and Cam Davis made a strong return from injury, with Pope recording 5 tackles, including 1 TFL, and Davis notching 5 tackles and playing on both lines. Phoenix Stefko added 6 tackles on defense.
Injuries to two key starters took a toll on the Eagles, but Coach Steve Bowers praised the effort of his team. “Several guys gave a great effort in a game that was tied 0-0 until late in the first half,” he said.
The Eagles (1-2) will look to bounce back from this loss as they travel to Ottawa Hills (3-1) in Toledo next week.
