The Bedford Mules football team bounced back from their season-opening loss with a resounding 48-3 win over the Ann Arbor Skyline Eagles. After Skyline kicked off the scoring with a 41-yard field goal, Bedford took control, scoring 48 unanswered points.
Lucas Gerber’s two short touchdown runs and Jack Decker’s 28-yard field goal in the second quarter gave Bedford an 18-3 halftime lead. The Mules continued their dominance in the second half, with four different players finding the end zone, adding 30 more points to their tally.
Bedford’s rushing attack proved unstoppable, amassing 343 yards, while their stingy defense held the Eagles to just 40 total yards. Isaac Henman led the charge with 117 yards and a touchdown, followed closely by Braylon Gilsdorf’s 92 yards. Jack Decker’s perfect extra-point attempts and field goal added to the Mules’ scoring barrage.
Defensively, Trenton Smithson, Gerber, and Alex Mapes led the way, shutting down the Eagles’ offense. With this convincing win, Bedford improves to 1-1 on the season and looks forward to hosting 1-1 Dexter in week 3.
