Preseason Our Thoughts, Not Yours

By Chris Schultz and Frank Vajcner

Each week, Chris and Frank will give their thoughts on our blog teams, and a few other musings. For the most part, one will generally keep things on the rails, while the other generally goes a little off the wall.

Derek Anderson has his work cut out for him at Airport, I’m sure his enthusiasm and passion will rub off on his players and coaches.

I do not envy the players who have big shoes to fill in Carleton. But I do hope they can write their own nice piece of Jets’ history.

I know this sounds terrible, but I have never personally attended a Bedford football game.

I do not subscribe to Bedford having a manageable schedule.

This guy is definitely “Bullish” on the Marauders this year.

Best Marauder team ever? That remains to be seen, but I firmly believe the late, great Chad Schoen will be smiling down a lot upon Izaiah Wright.

Apparently, the powers that be in the LCAA didn’t listen to Frank regarding the “Backyard Brawl”.

It feels like yesterday I was watching Ryan Zanger play middle school football.

I will personally be rooting for Erie Mason each week, except for week 5.

Playing in memory of an assistant coach can be a great driving force.

Stop the T and the Rams may win their first league championship since 1978.

We all know what Graham Junge can do, but can he be the same without Brian Booms?

It’s 2024!

I know it’s an even year, but who is going to step up? And are there any more Pizzos in the pipeline?

Frank likes the Chiefs this year, I do too!

I like the Chiefs as my sleeper in the Huron League.

Love the Blue Streaks in 2024.

I have high, but tempered expectations for my Blue Streaks. One of us thinks they win their conference.

You win with seniors!

It would not shock me if Da Bears at least flirt with .500.

Milan has a proud football program.

Jesse Hoskins always gets every last drop out of his guys.

The Blog needs a good season from Monroe.

Stability is going to help the Trojans

The Bucs have talent, but is the necessary on-field leadership they have enough to continue Riverview’s great Huron League title run?

It will be weird not seeing a Lockhart wearing maroon and gold this season.

Love the Falcons this year!

There seems to be a lot of talk about the Falcons making it to a certain venue on Brush Street this season.

Advanced Tech is willing to play Summerfield in the coming years if it helps them stay in 11-man football.

At this time next year, we will be referring to Summerfield as a nomad.

Reloading?

I truly hope there will be more than just three games in The Woods this season.

I love college football!

Geographic nonsense (among many things) has impacted my ability to enjoy college football.

I don’t care if State wins or loses anymore.

Jonathan Smith, don’t let us down.

Forward Down the Field!

The Lions are in the SBOB era (that’s Super Bowl or Bust). Get used to it.

PSA: Anyone who complains about officiating had better know the rules or be prepared to register with MHSAA. Otherwise, just cheer positively for your team.

This edition of OTNY is dedicated to the memory of Gabe McQuaide

  1. Ah, another year and another bashing of Bedford football. Every other comment is either funny, or supportive and then you 2 clowns write that. Do better.

    1. Show me where Chris or I have “bashed” Bedford football.

If you are going to bring salacious allegations toward us, you better have evidence.

      1. I’m expecting better than 4-5. The schedule is still tough though.

Here’s what I’ll say about the other SEC Red schools:

Huron, despite some turmoil, seems to keep winning.

Pioneer I’ll have to see more of if they want to prove that they weren’t a one-hit wonder last season.

        Skyline is just awful.

Dexter is being picked as the favorite.

Saline has to replace a lot, including a coaching staff, but they are still Saline.

Lincoln, for as bad as they are in terms of record, seem to be a pain to play.

Monroe we will mention more in detail later, but that’s a rivalry game, and you throw the records out the window in those games.

I realistically expect Bedford to get back to the postseason, but I have to see results before I can put them in the upper echelon of the SEC Red.

    2. Kind of hard on the guys, aren’t you? What do you mean by “Do better”? All they do is promote more coverage for the kids. I believe Chris has been doing this since 2010 and Frank has been around at least 5 years. How about you do better?

  2. I think every program in the County, that does not have a game on August 29th, should Erie Mason’s home game in honor of Gabe McQuide.

  3. And so it begins…

Here’s to another great season of coverage. Thanks for your love for, support of, and dedication to the area teams!
