Milan Big Reds: 2024 Team Preview

The Milan Big Reds enter the 2024 season with longtime Head Coach Jesse Hoskins heading up the team for the 14th season. The team qualified for the playoffs last season and have done so all but 3 times in Coach Hoskins highly successful career. Milan returns 8 starters and will open the season with Ypsi Lincoln.

Players to Watch

1. CJ Offerman SR OL/DL – Dedicated two way player. Tough and smart. CJ has been a leader in the off season work. Primed to be one of the top linemen in the region.

2. Cooper Kimberly SR OL/DL – Dedicated two way player. Talented athlete, long and strong. Cooper has developed over the past 3 years. He had a solid junior season. Primed to be one of the top tackles in the region.

3. Jaxen Wourman SR WR/DB – Playmaker and difference maker. Jaxen is much more comfortable in our system. We need him to play well for our team to reach its potential.

4. CJ Fairbanks SR QB/DB – CJ was injured his entire junior year. Explosive athlete. CJ is going to be a big part of our success.

5. Joe Edmunds SR TE/LB – Missed most of his senior year with an injury. Big, strong young man. Ready for a breakout year.

Outlook

Offense

We don’t have a returning star, although Wourman is a known weapon. We worked hard this off season to adjust our scheme to get more players involved. We have an unselfish group. We hope to have 6 players who get regular touches.

Defense

We have many players who run well. We want to use this to our advantage. I like our depth at DL and LB. We have multiple players who are interchangeable. The Huron League is tough upfront. We have to be able to play more aggressively.

Huron League

Our league is awesome. We have proven coaches, who are good people, and tough players. Everyone is dangerous. Riverview has been at a different level the past few years. Every game leaves its mark.

Coaches Comments

Our seniors have prepared for a successful season. They have been a cohesive group during the off season. I’m excited for our seniors coming off injury and our seniors who have earned a greater role. They are really making this experience what they want it to be.

FNV Outlook

The Big Reds have a tough schedule, but the first 4 games are manageable. If they can come out of those with a 2-2 or 3-1 record, the playoffs could be a possibility. Things get rough in week 5 when Milan plays SMCC, Flat Rock and Riverview in consecutive week before ending with Airport and Eaton rapids.
