The Ida Bluestreaks football team kicked off their season in style, dominating the Grosse Ile Red Devils 48-6. Ida’s potent rushing attack and stifling defense proved too much for the Red Devils to handle.
Gavin Albring led the charge with 63 yards on six carries, scoring two touchdowns. Wyatt Dirkmaat added 68 yards on four carries, including a touchdown, and was perfect on six extra-point attempts. Dean Thomas chipped in with 53 yards on seven carries, scoring two touchdowns, while Brayden Bydlowski contributed 48 yards on four carries. Owen Snyder had a highlight-reel 51-yard touchdown run, and Justin Crozier added a 24-yard touchdown run.
The Bluestreaks’ defense was equally impressive, with Trent Pfeiffer and Jacob Towne each intercepting a pass. The defensive unit also recorded seven sacks, stifling the Red Devils’ offense.
With the win, Ida improves to 1-0 and sets its sights on a highly anticipated matchup with Whiteford (1-0) next week. The clash between two of the top teams in the FNV area promises to be an exciting encounter.
Grosse Ile, meanwhile, falls to 0-1 and will look to bounce back in their Huron League opener against Flat Rock (1-0).
I like Whiteford in this game. I just think they are a little bit tougher. Should be a good one.
