Flat Rock Handles Dundee 42-6

The Flat Rock Rams kicked off their 2024 football season with a resounding 42-6 victory over the Dundee Vikings. Both teams harbor playoff hopes coming into the season, but Flat Rock’s experience and depth proved too much for the Vikings.

The Rams’ Ben Scully and Graham Junge led the charge, with Scully rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown, while also snagging a pick-six. Junge threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, adding another score on the ground.

Dundee’s offense struggled, managing just 69 yards rushing and 116 yards passing, with Ryan Zanger throwing four interceptions. Joey Brink’s 27-yard touchdown reception provided a brief glimmer of hope, but Flat Rock’s defense stifled any further momentum.

The Ram defense was led by senior Logan Coplen who recorded 5 tackles and had an interception. Fellow senior Caleb Rollins had 2 interceptions on the evening.

Caleb Vaughan and Quenton Lephew stood out for Dundee’s defense, each recording 8 tackles. However, Flat Rock’s potent offense, which racked up 223 yards rushing and 190 yards passing, proved too much to handle.

The Rams’ victory sets them up for a strong season, building on their deep playoff runs in previous years. Flat Rock will host Grosse Ile in week 2. Dundee, meanwhile, will look to regroup and bounce back from this tough opening loss as they will host 1-0 Erie Mason next week.
