Next up in the Hope and Concern series is Bedford.
Biggest Reason for Hope: Young Skill Players who Garnered Experience. The Mules battled a share of injuries last season, which meant that several sophomores were pulled up as part of the five-quarter rule. Some of these players include RB Jake Spoonmore and WR TJ Dowe. While it wasn’t an ideal situation for them to be called upon, the experience that they gained will help the Mules get back on the winning track. It also helps having experience on the line, led by senior Chase Norbury.
Biggest Reason for Concern: Quarterbacks. The injury bug has not been kind to the Mules at the QB position for the last two seasons. In 2022, Caleb Kochendoerfer injured his knee in the preseason, and sat out his senior season. Last season, Drew Logsdon started as the triggerman for Mules, but he ended up hurting his knee. Logsdon will be a senior, but juniors Isaac Henman and Josh Parshall will likely get a chance to compete for the starting job. John Phillips would be best suited to identify QB1 before the season begins, but having capable depth is never a bad thing
