Each week, I will go through the box scores of all of our teams and pick four players whom I will turn to you, the people, to determine our Player of the Week. Go over to our Twitter/X page to vote: @FNVictors
There are a lot of choices in a given week, so narrowing them down to four is a challenge in itself. If you have anyone in particular to nominate, hit me up on Twitter (that will actually help me out more, as my Friday nights are busy with officiating).
You can then vote in our poll on X to determine the final outcome.
Without further ado…
Matt Foor, DE/RB, Airport: Foor capped off his birthday week by being a game-wrecker on defense for Airport in a 50-14 win over Jefferson. The senior recorded three sacks and was relentless pressuring Jefferson QB Luke Beaudrie. Foor also blocked a punt for a safety, and carried the ball nine times for 75 yards and a score.
Wyatt Dirkmaat, RB, Ida: Despite coming out on the losing end in a 26-21 loss to Blissfield, the Blue Streaks may have a star in the making in Dirkmaat. The sophomore rang up 236 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
Ian Foster, QB, SMCC: In a week where a lot went wrong for the Falcons(half the team missing practice due to sickness), Foster did his part to lead a gutty, gritty, and resilient performance. The junior had a hand in all four Falcon touchdowns (three rushing, one passing) as SMCC shocked Flat Rock 27-18.
Izaiah Wright RB, Carlson: It was another night at the office for Wright, as he rang up 260 rushing yards and a score on 29 carries in a 31-8 win over Woodhaven.
Honorable Mention: Trey Parker, RB, Dundee; Micah Smith, QB, Huron; Vaughn Brown, QB, Erie Mason; Colin Nowak, WR, Airport; Malachi Prybil, RB, Jefferson
I thought your nominees had to win their game to be considered?
We start there and then work our way through. It’s pretty tough not to include a kid who ran for well over 200 yards. It really depends on the week and performances of the overall group.
