Milan looks to continue their winning consistency this year under veteran coach Jesse Hoskins. The Big Reds have won 8 or more game 8 out of the 11 years since Coach Hoskins took over the program.
Head Coach: Jesse Hoskins (12th year Overall Record 84-34)
Coaching Staff: Justin Ward, Craig Zupi, Steven Price, Vaughn Price
Offense: (Return Starters 5) RB William Gaskell returns in the backfield and will run behind a veteran line that includes; Michael Maurer, William Walline and Flannery Wayne. Senior WR Connor Dessellier missed much of last season due to injury, but is expected to be a big contributer to the Big Red offense. Expect Sophomore Ronny Johnson to be an added wrinkle to the offense this season. “Ronny has rare speed and power. His desire to improve in the off season has set him up for a breakout season”, said Hoskins.
Defense: (Returning Starters 7) Maurer, Walline and Wayne all return on the defensive line along with Gaskell and Elijah Beck at LB. Dessellier returns in the defensive backfield along with senior Carson Baugher.
Hoskins League Outlook: The Huron League is always tough and it looks to be more of a challenge with Coach Hoover over at New Boston. Riverview and SMCC will be the teams to beat.
Coaches Comments: I love this group. They love the not so glamorous parts of the game; film study, speed training, strength development and parctice. We need to stay healthy. Our first two weeks will be a challenge.
FNV Outlook: Expect the Big Reds to challenge for the Huron League title. Their strengths are in the offensive and defensive lines and they have star power potential in Gaskell and Johnson. If Milan can get solid play out of senior QB Brady Bovenkerk, there is no reason they can’t dethrone Riverview this season.
