My Thoughts, Not Yours 8/28/21

Each week our founder Chris Schultz will give his thoughts about each team in the blog coverage area, as well as, other musings from the mind of a simple Michigan high school football fan.

Airport: This is not your father’s Jets, but it’s not your grandfather’s either. Airport will compete.

Bedford: Foolish of me to think a woeful Ford team could beat the Mules at home.

Carlson: Williams, Britt and a veteran offensive line will equal quite a few wins for the Marauders this season.

Dundee: Kudos to the Vikings for capitalizing on Summit’s repeated mistakes.

Erie Mason: Great start for the Eagles as the veteran defense pitches a shut-out.

Flat Rock: First of 3 winnable games to open the season results in a lopsided victory.

Grosse Ile: Huge night for Brody Kellems and the Red Devils. GR missing Tommie Gunnzz already?

Huron: A little puzzled by the Chief’s loss to Milford, but that’s a big Oakland County (enrollment 1,425) school.

Ida: Blue Streaks flexed their muscle at the expense of the Jets

Jefferson: Big victory for the Bears!

Milan: Huge opener against a Division 6 top 10 opponent

Monroe: Speed kills!

Riverview: Talented Divine Child team dominated by the offensive line of the Pirates.

SMCC: Falcon defense pitches first shutout since 2019 State Championship game.

Summerfield: Bulldog coack Alex Lipka gets second victory over his Alma Mater Allen Park Cabrini.

Whiteford: Bobcats show Royals why they are one of the teams to beat in Division 8 this season.

  1. Thank goodness Frank Vajcner can’t pick Blissfield this week.
Uncle Frank, here are my upset specials for Week 2
FR 61 Airport 56- Airport playing Airport defense
Whiteford 29 Ida 26. Everyone is a little too high on Ida and not high enough on Whiteford
Ypsilanti Lincoln 36 Monroe’s best team in the Notario era 21 .. Monroe hopes to be 1-2 when they play Saline week 4. “ a game they except to win”
Jefferson…., just joking. I do hope they come out of Riverview healthy for a week 3 showdown with the Rams of FR

  2. I thought CC looked really good compared to their scrimmage. Different energy and effort out there from their players. Defensively they mauled almont. I heard they ran around 60 plays to Almonts 20 for almost 40:00 time of Possession. CCs Offense didn’t bust any big plays but they just consistently turned out 4 yard run after 4 yard run and left almont dehydrated using oxygen masks trying to catch their breath on their bus ride back

    1. Minors cannot use oxygen masks at a high school football game, before or after period. Just let the kids enjoy the win and stop making everything they do out to be some superhuman feat. Best of luck to Almont the rest of the way this year.

  3. With all the rules in place for heat illnesses for practices, it sure goes out the door for games.
This past week was very dangerous due to heat, all I heard about was players gassed, cramping, vomiting, etc.displaying all symptoms of heat exhaustion, etc.
Guess players health doesn’t matter on game days.
    Something to think about…..

    1. I posted something yesterday on Twitter. I was very surprised that they played those afternoon games. The heat index was through the roof. Last night’s heat index would have most likely been much lower.

    1. Agree except I have Milan over Bedford and Whiteford over Monroe
Remember , according to Gary it’s about the schedule you play. No I don’t think Whiteford could beat Monroe.
Monroe looked unorganized and when you play a team with more speed you better be prepared.
I do think Milan could beat Bedford.

  4. Shout out to the 2019-2020 Huron New Boston Junior Varsity Team! Wrong pic on the Huron site but you know who you are. Awesome Team!
