The Carlson Marauders are coming off of three straight playoff appearances, but gone is Jack Giarmo who stepped down after three seasons in Gibraltar. Athletic Director Dan Kalbfleisch steps in as the interim head coach after Carlson’s job search didn’t find a suitable replacement for Giarmo. Kalfleisch took New Boston Huron to the Division 3 semi-finals back in 2015.

Coaches’ Comments: Wyandotte, Allen Park and Woodhaven are teams to watch in the Downriver League.
FNV Outlook: This will be an interesting season as Carlson exits the Giarmo era. Kalbfleisch was know for his wide open unpredictable offenses at Huron. While many expect Carlson to take a step backward because of the departure of players like Ian Stewart (Michigan State), don’t feel sorry for the Marauders. There is plenty of talent and Kalby is known as a player’s coach. Expect Carlson to contend for the Downriver League title.
I think you forgot to mention some players to watch. Typical political stuff.
Thank you FNV for doing this for basically free and acknowledging the local teams. There is no political basis here just a great outlet to hear and talk about local teams and the great student athletes. Stay positive, stay healthy and football is back!
Downriver title ?????
5 league games and Carlson misses Woo and AP
How can the downriver league claim a champion ???
Who cares, its a pandemic. Play who you play and determine champs, co-champs or whatever.
