New Boston Huron Preview and Prediction

Huron failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014 as they finished with a 2-7 record under first year head coach Chad Smith in 2018. The Chiefs did win their final game of the season though with a 25-14 victory over playoff qualifier Garden City.

Huron defense against Summerfield offense (2019 scrimmage)

Head Coach: Chad Smith (2nd Year 2-7)

Assistant Coaches: Jim Kalbfleisch, Jovan Johnson, Dale Mitkiff, Pat Callahan, Ron Beggs and Drew Leininger

Starters Returning: Offense 6, Defense 6

Returning Players to Watch: Connor McCraight DB, Tycen Stevens RB/LB, Jack Nickell DB, Troy Blosser RB, Zack Taylor OL/DL, Tyler Short OL/DL, Chase Molnar QB and Austin Myers QB.

New Players to Watch: Brendan Damiani TE, Dylan Kirk OL/DE, Griffin Chollette RB, Kameron Buettner LB and Ethan Federle OL.

Coaches’ Thoughts: “The league will be competitive from top to bottom, so you have to be ready to play every Friday. There are no easy weeks in the Huron league which will make for some great games this season.”

FNV Outlook: The Chiefs seem to be much more comfortable in Coach Smith’s system in year two. Huron’s offense could be explosive and will need to be after being held to 3 points or less four times in 2018. If Huron is to improve on last year’s record and sniff the playoffs the defense will need to improve after giving up nearly 30 ppg in 2018.

Chris’ Pick: 3-6

Frank’s Pick: 5-4

Gary’s Pick: 4-5

    Gary, Chris, and Frank,

Do you guys see Huron upsetting or surprising any of the league favorites? I see Huron as a potential dark horse in the league if they can figure things out early.

    1. Huron was young last year. They have some size up front and have 2 nice QB’s.
They don’t have much time to figure things out. There are no easy games this year in the league whatsoever.

Stay tuned for our Week 1 prediction show later tonight.

    2. I believe that Huron will be the
most improved team in the conference. I could see them knocking off one of the top dogs
