Carlson 2019 Preview and Prediction

Carlson finished the 2018 season with a 8-2 record and a share of the Downriver League Championship. Their playoff hopes were dashed in the 1st round as they lost to Downriver League rival Trenton 22-21. Jack Giarmo is back for his 3rd season as Head Coach of the Marauders.

Marauder Stadium

Head Coach: Jack Giarmo (3rd season, 17-4)

Assistant Coaches: Rob Hogg, Drew Sweany, Ryan Buttson, Scott Hoffman, Mike Theibult, Brian Ratliff and Jim Bylica

Returning Starters: Offense 6, Defense 5

Players to Watch: Dylan Rachozy G/LB, Anthony Greear FB/LB, Ian Stewart QB/LB, Nick McArthur TE/DE, Jesses Taylor OT/DE, Bryce Stewart RB/DB, Julian Poole RB/DB

Coach’s Thoughts: “Our preseason practices have gone very well and we have been able to add a few things on offense and defense. We have many spots to fill on offense and defense. The issue is depth at some of the positions. We must stay healthy and count on back ups to give our two way starters rest during the game. I see Allen Park, Wyandotte, Woodhaven, and Trenton as the top teams in the league.”

FNV Thoughts: Carlson should know where they stand in the Downriver League race after week 3 as they face off with Woodhaven and Allen Park in back to back weeks after opening with Southgate Anderson. October 11th will be a huge game for the Marauders as they will travel to Harper Woods in what should be a good litmus test for a playoff run.

Chris’ Pick: 7-2

Frank’s Pick: 8-1

Gary’s Pick: 8-1
