It’s now time to head for a school that is fresh off of a state championship in baseball, and has a new football coach. Alex Lipka takes over at Summerfield. How will the first season go? The schedule will provide us with some indication.
Aug 29 @ Erie Mason
Sept 6 Pittsford
Sept 13 Britton-Deerfield
Sept 20 @ Stockbridge
Sept 27 Clinton
Oct 4 @ Adrian Madison
Oct 11 @ Sand Creek
Oct 18 Morenci
Oct 25 @ Whiteford
Gut-Check Game: Clinton. It’s the final year for the Redskins in the Tri-County Conference, and the Bulldogs would love for nothing more then to send them out with a loss. Doing so will be tough, as the Redskins are 10-2 against the Bulldogs since coming into the TCC.
Trap Game: at Adrian Madison. Even though the Bulldogs won 33-0 over the Trojans last season, this game falls between the visit from Clinton, and a trip to Sand Creek.
Snoozer: Stockbridge went 1-8 last season. Enough said.
Non-Con Challenge: Pittsford comes to Petersburg for the Bulldogs’ home opener in Week 2. The Wildcats defeated the Dawgs 10-0 last season, as well as qualified for the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season.
Notable: Summerfield will continue their series with Erie Mason in Week 1. Both schools will be in the TCC next season…The trip to Stockbridge in Week 4 will be the first meeting between both schools…The annual rivalry game with Whiteford moves to the end of the regular season for the first time since 2006.
Thoughts from Frank: Summerfield just missed out on the playoffs last season at 5-4. A return is definitely more than doable this year. The Bulldogs could very well be 4-0 before Clinton comes to town in Week 5. A regular season finale against arch-rival Whiteford could be a “win and your in” in terms of playoff implications
Summerfields gonna have a tough season. They have enough strength in their schedule to make the Playoffs, but I expect losses from Stockbridge, Clinton and Whiteford. They’re gonna be fine.
I’ll get a good look at Stockbridge in Week 2
