Flat Rock Rams Schedule Analysis

Time to take a drive up Telegraph Road for our next stop in the Schedule Analysis series, which is also the alma mater of our own Chris Schultz. Flat Rock had some close losses en route to a 4-5 season. Will they have chances to turn it around? Let’s take a look.

Aug 29 Redford Thurston

Sept 6 Jefferson

Sept 13 @ Riverview

Sept 20 @ Milan

Sept 27 SMCC

Oct 4 @ Grosse Ile

Oct 11 Airport

Oct 18 Huron

Oct 25 @ Ann Arbor Huron

Gut-check Game: at Grosse Ile. The Rams take a trip to Grosse Ile to play the Red Devils in Week 6. In the last meeting, Buck Reaume’s squad gave the eventual Huron League Champs fits before falling 33-28. Now the Rams must head to The Island, where they have not won since 2008. In addition, this game comes at the end of a four-game stretch where the Rams face all four of last season’s playoff qualifiers from the Huron League.

Trap Game: Huron. The Chiefs mark the end of the Huron League slate for the Rams, and comes the week after a rivalry game with Airport. Huron is looking to rebound from a dismal 2-7 season last year. The Rams will need to be focused for this one.

Snoozer:  at Ann Arbor Huron. See Bedford analysis.

Non-Con Challenge: Redford Thurston replaces Garden City on the schedule. The Eagles went 5-4 last season, but just missed the playoffs.

Notable: The Rams will face all four of the Huron League’s playoff teams from Week 3-6, with three of those games on the road.

Thoughts from Frank: Flat Rock went 4-5 last season, but three of those losses were by a combined ten points. There will be added motivation to avenge close losses to SMCC, Grosse Ile, and Airport, but surviving the murderer’s row from Week 3 to Week 6 will be key if the Rams want to return to the playoffs.
