Dundee Schedule Analysis
Up next in our schedule analysis series is where you can find Frank on a regular basis during the fall and winter. Can Dundee finally get over the hump? Let’s look at the schedule.
Aug 29 @ Romulus Summit Academy
Sept 6 Stockbridge
Sept 13 @ Hudson
Sept 20 Ida
Sept 27 Blissfield
Oct 4 @ Onsted
Oct 11 Columbia Central
Oct 18 @ Erie Mason
Oct 25 Hillsdale
Gut-check game: Ida. In the last edition of the Backyard Brawl, the Vikings came into Ida undefeated at 3-0, and left with a bad taste in their mouths after a 20-3 defeat. If Kyle McElvany and company want to take the next step, getting a win over your rival would be a great place to start.
Trap game: at Onsted. A trip to the Irish Hills looms in Week 6, and it comes sandwiched between visits from LCAA powers Blissfield and Columbia Central. The last time the Vikings ventured to Onsted, it was the Wildcats who pulled out a 21-20 win in the final minutes.
Snoozer: Stockbridge got throttled 54-8 by the Vikings last season, and went 1-8 for the second year in a row. This one could get ugly again.
Non-con challenge: The Vikings open the season with a road trip to Romulus to play Summit Academy. The Dragons have gone 5-4 in each of the last two seasons.
Notable: The Week 1 trip to Summit Academy will mark the second meeting between the Vikings and Dragons. Dundee was a 58-0 winner the last time both teams met in 2009.
Thoughts from Frank: It was same song, different verse for Dundee last season, as they finished 5-4, but could have easily been 7-2. The non-conference slate is manageable, and the Vikings will have opportunities to knock over the apple cart in the LCAA as they get Ida, Blissfield, and Columbia Central all at home.
