Luke Harwood, RB, Grosse Ile. Harwood backed up a big Week 6 performance with another big performance in Week 7. The senior rushed for 227 yards and two scores on 20 carries, as the Red Devils defeated Milan 42-21. The Devils’ 7-0 start is their best since 1997, when they also started 7-0. In addition, they also clinched at least a share of the Huron League Championship.
Sam Cousino, RB, SMCC. Cousino has been mentioned previously in our POTW posts, but his performance on Friday against Airport was his best. The junior rushed 23 times for 188 yards and three scores, as the Falcons moved closer to clinching a playoff bid with a 38-26 win over Airport.
Steven Rice, Kyle Naif, and Mark Walker, RBs, Riverview. As a team, the Pirates rang up 508 rushing yards and six touchdowns against Huron, and the trio of Rice (126 yards), Naif (100 yards, TD), and Walker (96 yards, TD) accounted for 322 yards and two scores in a 50-28 win. The Pirates also punched their ticket to the playoffs, and will have a chance at a share of the Huron League crown with a win over Grosse Ile next week.
Jace Clark, LB, Monroe. Clark was all over the field on defense for the Trojans on homecoming night. The senior recorded 12 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a pass breakup in a 42-7 Trojan victory over Ann Arbor Pioneer. The Trojans also punched their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
Christian Brown, RB, Bedford. Brown rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns as the Mules thrashed Ann Arbor Skyline 51-14 to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
