1. (2) Grosse Ile 7-0, Very impressive victory @ Milan.
2. (1) Whiteford 7-0, Gives up some points vs a good Sand Creek team.
3. (3) Carlson 6-1, Wyandotte next up
4. (4) Riverview 6-1, Biggest game of the year this Friday for a share of the HL crown
5. ( 5) Monroe 6-1, Trojans have things in high gear. Saline next. SEC title on the line.
6. (8) SMCC 5-2, Good win on the road @ Airport. Playing for playoff position now.
7. (6) Milan 5-2, As SMCC, the Big Reds are playing for home playoff games.
8. (7) Ida 5-2, Falls to a very good Hillsdale squad.
9. (9) Dundee 4-3, A fantastic showing on the road against a quality BCC team. Vikings must win out to qualify.
10. (NR) Summerfield 4-3, Fighting for a playoff spot. A win vs Sand Creek might get them in.
SORRY ABOUT SPELLING…
12:13AM YOU ARE PART OF THE MILAN CLICK (20-30PEOPLE) WALKING AROUND MILAN SMELLING FIERY DUST AND LOOKING AT RAINBOEWS… NEVER ONCE HAVE I EVER MADE IT ABOUT MY KID…IN FACT I AM THE ONE SAYING FURTNEY and MORRIS NEED MORE TOUCHES…IF YOU THINK I AM TELLING MY KID HE'S GREAT, THEN IT PROVES YOU DON'T KNOW ME…IF I HAVE OFFENDED YOU, I TRUELY APOLOGIZE…I WEAR MY EMTIONS ON MY SLEEVES… IF I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL…ITS A GAME OF ADJUSTMENTS…WHEN OTHER TEAMS ARE CALLING OUT YOUR PLAYS…ITS NOT GOOD… AGAIN I AM SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU…
P.S. I WAS OUT TO DINNER LAST NIGHT WITH 2 OTHER MILAN COUPLES AND TOLD THEM I WAS GOING TO APOLOGIZE. THEY ASKED WHY AND FOR WHAT??/ YOU ARE RIGHT.. LOOK A UNICORN…
Coming from a guy who has played and coached in the Huron League
The last few years of Whiteford teams would compete right at the top of the Huron League with everyone else. Whiteford has had some of the best players and coaching in the area so lets give credit where credit is due. A state championship means you are pretty good D8 or otherwise. Now in other sports or in an average year in football? Not sure but having seen Whiteford in person and my experiences, they would compete with the best of the Huron League currently. Hopefully we find out in the playoffs 🙂
100% Gary…
Gary, you know you Catholics over in Monroe wouldn’t be here without steady recruitment *sarcasm*
To the guy who said Whiteford can't win week week out playing a HL schedule and they're d8 for a reason….this is all I know, most probably would say Ida and Dundee are 2 decent to good teams from around here, pretty close in size to about half of HL schools, so I'd say fair comparison to a HL level of football….both those teams played Bluefield, Dundee lost and Ida won close….whiteford steamrolled Bluefield, enforced a running clock by half and had they not taken foot off the gas could have legitimately won by 60 or more….that same Bluefield team beat Brooklyn cc which is also talked on here of being good…just saying, I don't care about divisions, they'd be damn good in the HL, and if say would probably win it, athletes are athletes and they got as many as anyone
So do the people with our heads in the clouds a favor. Come watch Whiteford and Clinton who is a very good d6 team. Watch what Whiteford will do to them then you can come join us up in the clouds. Whiteford is a very good team no matter the division, including the huron league.
So you are saying a D7-8 team playing D2-5 each and every week is tough to do and respectable?
I LIKE IT!!!
Whiteford is solid, but they do not play a HL schedule. Sure they would win some games but week in and week out, playing schools with triple their enrollment, the HL would just wear them down. Some people on this blog are just mesmerized by their State title. It's D8. Much respect, but they have divisions for a reason. Same reason they have weight classes in boxing. Best fighter might be a lightweight and might even beat a heavyweight but if they had to fight heavyweights consistently they wouldnt last. It's just common sense. Wish some people would get their head out of the clouds
You must have played on that 2003 Airport team huh?
GI is currently the top team enrollment wise in D5.
Was just checking out Mapetology and they have Grosse Ile in Division 5. Kind of surprised about that.
Harper Woods could be ruled ineligible for playoffs if they are forced to forfeit first 5 games , will affect D5 mostly
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/2018/10/01/eligibility-harper-woods-qb-corey-graham-under-review/1492185002/
03 Airport would dominate 17 Riverview… really? That 03 Airport defense was better than any we’ve seen in a while… but since we can only speculate I’ll just leave it at that.
About time the troll came out of hibernation
We win as a team and we lose as a team! Nobody gets thrown under the bus for having bad games I think there are people on all teams that want to throw the coach under the bus after a loss and a 5-2 team is no different.
I really like our coaching staff and I have AFTER a play or two have second guessed a play but everyone thinks they are a coaching genius after the plays are over with!! These are young kids and still make mistakes but it's not the coaches fault.
I've watched Tristen Hines play since the second grade and I asked him after the Jefferson game where his head was at that game! I watch the film after each game and I can see what he's missing but he does and that is no coaches fault!!
The better the competition the better he plays!! I'm just a proud papa watching my grandson play as a part of the Milan Football team!!
Big Bob Milan
As long as Milan doesn’t have the turnovers it has had in its 2 losses, Milan will beat alAirport!!!
9:43 WTH is Bluestreak style??? Please elaborate.
I guess I could fire myself.
Airport would be D4. Not in View's Division.
Which one of you guys is responsible for approving comments? You should be fired! Speed it up a little. I’m bored at work and staring at my computer screen with nothing else to do. Trying to troll and you’re holding me up. Lol!!
Calpreps has Airport 34 Milan 33.
That’ll get the Good ol’ Airport folks fired up! Don’t get your panties in a bunch. It’s just my opinion comparing those 2 teams.
I just noticed the 2003 Airport and 2017 Riverview score Gary put up. Ha! No way in Troll hell does that 2003 Airport team beat last years Riverview’s team. 2003 Airport wouldn’t have been able to stop the T that Riverview ran. That defense would’ve been punished.
I think Whiteford would do just fine in the HL. Whiteford has some BIG linemen that would battle in the trenches with Riverview and SMCC. Mix in the athletes and they compete and possibly beat everyone in the HL. It would be cool to see the Whiteford SMCC matchup. Every Troll that’s ever trolled would want to see that one!
Let’s say Airport does win out-I’m not drinking any Kool Aid on this but what district would they be in? Would they bump AP or Trenton to another district?
Yes it could… I think Whiteford will hover right on the border on 7 and 8. We wont know until after all the games are played week 9.
How would Whiteford fair in the HL? Well, I think they would finish in the top 5. They would compete well. I dont think they would win the league but they would be in every game.
Snooze has SMCC and Whiteford in the same district, could we be so lucky? Do you think this is a real possibility? Would be great to get that question answered, how would Whiteford do in the Huron League.
Best case scenario puts Airport at 5-4 with 52.16 Playoff Points. This is my math with the teams they beat winning and getting them the most playoff points possible. I do not have tecumseh beating Chelsea… I just dont see that happening.
If you go by last year's Class B teams, the lowest point total was 50.33. So I am saying there is a chance!
Gary, Dundee better pack breakfast lunch and Dinner to beat HILLSDALE! Dundee has improve tremendously this year. But Hillsdale would have to lose half of their team to injuries for Dundee to have a chance! Dundee does have an outstanding kicker though.
Frank and I are putting together playoff scenarios for every team. They will be up today or tomorrow.
GI in 4 is looking at Milan. Country Day. Farmington Hills Harrison.
D5. Harper woods. Osborne. Denny. Marine city. Cranbrook.
If GI is in D4 or D5 who would they eventually run into that would be tough for them? That’s one hell of a team for D5!!
As a spectator at the Ida / Hillsdale game. Hillsdale wanted the "W" more. Ida's Offensive and Defensive LINES did not pull through after halftime. You can't depend on 4 or 5 key players to carry the game. "TEAM" "TEAM" "TEAM"! You need to work together. You need to toughen up, wrap em' up and quit taking for granted that your teammate "HAS THIS", continue to follow through. Hillsdale gained yards on PLAYS because their team followed through. They pushed their guy through Ida's defensive line make 10 to 15 yards. Come On Ida! You know it is going to take more than this in a PLAYOFF game! Next Onsted and then Blissfield, do not think that you are going to go on the field and they are going to give you the game. YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED! 2 Games left, lets bring it BLUESTREAK STYLE!
Anyone know the chances of Airport getting in if they somehow were to win out, don't think it will happen personally. Just curious
Airport is the favorite over Tecumseh.
Dundee. If Dundee beats Hillsdale they are in.
Grosse Ile is currently the top team enrollment wise in D5. They could be D4 or D5.
Is Tecumseh that bad this year? Calpreps says Airport 41 Tecumseh 20. I’m not buying that at all.
snooze has Grosse Ile in D5… I thought they were pretty firm in D4, does that seem right?
Airport’s PAT’s are killing them. I would love to know what our scoring percentage is whether it’s a kick or 2 point conversion. SMCC scored 5 TD’s and converted on 4 2 point conversions. Airport scored 4 TD’s and converted on 1 2 point conversion.
Would GI end up D3 or D4? Who would be in their district?
03 Airport would have mopped up last years View team. 27-21? I think not… obviously all we can do is speculate so I’ll jist leave it at that…..
For Vikings fans>>>
As of now, Dundee is tied with Center Line for last team OUT of the playoffs at 5-4 at 45.286 . Sault St. Marie would sneak in at 45.714 ahead of them. If Dundee finishes 5-4, it is likely they won't find out until sometime Saturday weather they are in or not depending on how 3-4 other games go.
THERE IS ONLY ONE PARENT AT MILAN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COACHING AND EVERYONE IN THE MILAN CROWD KNOWS WHO IT IS. MILAN HAS HAD SUCCESS YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT UNDER CAOCH HOSKINS AND HIS STAFF. 3 OF THE LAST 6 HURON LEAGUE TITLES. MULTIPLE PLAYOFF WINS WITH LOW NUMBERS, A DISTRICT TITLE ETC.
THE COACHING STAFF CARES ABOUT THE KIDS AND THEY WORK HARD TO PUT THEM IN A GOOD POSITION NOT ONLY IN HS FOOTBALL, BUT IN TEACHING LIFE LESSONS. IT'S ABOUT THE TEAM, NOT A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL. I THINK BIG BOB WOULD AGREE AS MR. HINES HASN'T HAD 7 GREAT GAMES. YOU WORK TOGETHER TO HAVE A GOOD PRODUCT AND IT TAKES A TEAM EFFORT. THE MILAN COACHES ARE EXCEPTIONAL IN HOW THEY TREAT THE KIDS AND MAKE THE FOOTBALL EXPERIENCE ENJOYABLE. THEY SPEND THEIR FREE TIME, (MAKING VERY LITTLE MONEY) AS DO ALL COACHES, TO DO THEIR BEST AND MAKE HS FOOTBALL SPECIAL FOR THEIR PLAYERS.
Dominate, how? they lost two games. Not saying they were not a great team but dominate is winning it all…….
We act like the view team from last year was the greatest HL team to ever play. They were not even undefeated in the regular season or win the state championship. There have been many many teams get as far and farther than them. Its 2018 and still two weeks to go. What happens if GI and RV go 1-1 over the next two weeks….. could happen you never know
I don’t see it any other way than View being in the same district as Carlson, Trenton and Allen Park.
View will have to go 8-1 to get a home playoff game vs AP most likely.
Sorry, Black Beard. Public blog so I’m gonna reply but it’s more a generic statement to all. Yes, this year’s Riverview team isn’t going to have any one RB put up the numbers Rodgers or Guthrie did last year but if you look at the stats we’re still putting up 400+ rushing yards a game which is almost identical to last year and we’re doing it without relying on the QB like we did last year.
We also have far more ints than last year and a better secondary (in my opinion).
As far as GI goes, I respect the turn around. Last year the took some lumps on the chin without losing their cool. I also respect Blanzy and the QB play their getting (sorry, I don’t know his name).
I don’t know who will win Friday night but there are some definite intangibles in the Red Devils favor: revenge after losing to View at their homecoming and maybe more importantly, home field because as the Bloggers in Chief has mentioned many times over the years GI is a different team at home.
Gary that game wouldn’t even be close
Riverview 2017 was a machine and the only thing that stopped them last year was bad refs in the hills back pocket!!
Riverview 40 GI 17
How about 2016 View vs 2016 GI (GI won the cup).
How about 2017 View vs 2017 GI (View won the cup back).
The only real question is 2018 View vs 2018 GI?
Real Answer Friday Night…
GI 35 – View 21.
Colvin Cup will be back on the Island at least until 2019.
D3 playoff match up region 4
4 seed Trenton at 1 seed Carlson
3 seed Riverview at 2 seed Allen Park
850X
Snooze2you has Riverview in a district with Allen Park, Carlson and Trenton. Snooze also has SMCC in a D7 district with Whiteford. EM
How about the Huron team that went to the Final Four a couple of yrs ago
Sounds more like a parent or player from 2017 Riverview team if you ask me , because no one else was talking about 2017 Riverview. Maybe living in the past?
Can we get a d3 playoff preview.
Correct me if I’m wrong.
Trenton, Carlson, Allen park, rouge, Riverview.
10:43 you don't need Gary to bring out his calpreps nuetral field woulda coulda shoulda winner spitter to wonder about 2017 View vs 2018 GI. Not even close. That was a different team that would have beaten this year's Riverview team easily. I think Milan, CC, and Flatrock were all much better teams last year. View lost arguably the 2 best blocking TE's and the 2 best RB's in the league last year. The line was described by many as the toughest they have ever seen in the HL. They destroyed Carlson and shocked a Divine Child team that had numerous division 1 kids including Theo Day and Aidan Hutchison. Throwing that question out there lends me to believe that the previously quiet GI fan is starting to feel a little cocky. I think it will be a very close game Friday and I also think GI can go just as deep in the playoffs as View did last year, but don't spend too much time comparing yourself to one of the most dominant teams around in a long time. As of now, the Covin Cup is still on the mainland. And please, only Gary and Chris respond to this because I only want unbiased responses.
Why would you have a 2018 GI team play a 2017 RV team when we are not sure they can beat a 2018 RV team
Why would you have a 2018 GI team play a 2017 RV team when we are not sure they can beat a 2018 RV team
1994 Jefferson beats all,
However, that takes into account if they played now. So… maybe calpreps is right?
lol of course it doesnt… its just for fun.
Calpreps doesn't know everything.

Current projections have Whiteford in D8. But it’s close.
I’m hearing some talk about Whiteford going D7. Just wondering what your projection is on them? D7/D8?
Allen Park knocked off View and St. John knocked off AP the following week. 2004
I still remember that 2004 season when CC and Riverview were a couple of the best teams in the state. Allen Park as well, who happened to knock out Riverview that year. There’s a reason CC is one of the top programs in the state. And it’s well deserved.

Im sure Ill get some homer talk here but just pointing out that the HL has has some really good teams over the years.
That was a tough decision. Recent play was the deciding factor. Milan has lost 2 of their last 4. Getting doubled up at home vs GI, isnt the best look.
Yes Milan beat CC, that was 5 weeks ago. That win cant hold all the water, considering how the game was won. (4th down and 18, final seconds) I took the 22 point margin of vicotry/loss to Riverview into consideration as well.
I'm sure some would have Milan ahead of CC just based on H2H and I would have no problem with that.
Teams like the Riverview team last year don't come around too often!
Just out of curiosity, and I’m not asking you to change it like the Riverview person did last week lol but why is SMCC before Milan when Milan beat them? I just want your take on it is all!
Who would win between View 2017 and GI 2018?

This is what calpreps.com thinks.
As dominant as Cousinos run game is, I don’t think he would’ve had the game he did against airport without his O line. Huge shoutout the cc line, especially James Hawkins, for a dominant outing. Everybody should be looking out for James Hawkins during playoffs and next year. Has a bright future ahead of him.
@9:19 not sure he was #2 right??? I saw him go off the field in the first quarter of riverview didn’t come back the rest of the game or against flat rock
Shame he was a dynamic runner
Cousino had 9 tackles
My bad. I apologize for the misunderstanding. Keep up the great work. This page does bring excitement to the area teams.
10:53..
Re-read my statement. Especially the first 2 words.
Cousino loves the taste of bears. College scouts will be in high attendance to see Sam eat some bear.
Gary, you don't think Ida is a very good team? Really?? That's a pretty strong statement. I've have been to see Ida and I have also watched SMCC this year when they were at Airport. I'll give you this SMCC is pretty good. And when you consider their injury's and lack of numbers it says even more about how tough their kids are. You are way off base on Ida though, they are very good and would beat SMCC. As far as having stats to support this I have none. Then again, other than you using SMCC beating at not very good Airport team (which Ida would beat) and saying Ida was trounced by a good Hillsdale team, which if you knew what happened in the game it wasn't exactly the story either do you.
and 10:11…
I cant be sure who you were referring to when you said, "they want a win in week one. It will never happen". But I can go off of the "thats on SMCC. They were the ones who dropped Ida years ago" With that, it sounds like you are referring to SMCC.
Have you seen SMCC's week 1 opponents over the years? PW, Crockett, Plymouth, Nouvel. Those are half of the week 1's since 2005.
It is Ida who schedules rather favorable games in week 1. Case and point, they havent lost a week 1 since 2001. Which makes me think that maybe you were reffering to Ida.
Who do you guys think would’ve won between this year GI and last year Riverview? I’d appreciate unbiased opinions, so parents please don’t reply lol
Sorry your wrong about SMCC dropping IDA. Its the exact opposite. Ida lost twice in the 2 year contract once knocking them out of the playoffs to an SMCC team with a 4-5 record. SMCC also played Bedford for 2 years and won both times. Plus they lost to Plymouth once, and Detroit Crockett twice. To be fair they did have a couple years where they played Summit and PEC from the charter league and played a Canadian team. But after they went on their consecutive playoff runs, most teams won't play. PW did for two years but who wants to travel 3 hours. Lansing CC played four years again travel time. Most teams want weaker teams to play especially with so many 5-4's in now. But if you have a history of winning most teams won't schedule you. The state needs to address this fact and make ditrict/region teams play regardless. Or drop the pre-ditrict game and take less teams in the playoffs. The other complaint about SMCC is playoff points. They can get alot of points because they play A and B class schools, versus teams their size that play C and D schools. Simple math people. If you want more points play bigger schools than yourself.
Historian of Football
And.. SMCC was 8th last week behind Ida. Ida got trounced and SMCC won on the road. I think that is enough reason for the switch.
I do think Ida is a good team. As far as them being ranked above SMCC, give me some numbers or what you think is a valid reason. You thinking they would beat SMCC isn't good enough in my opinion. That isnt how I do the rankings anyway.
Jamie Hawkins starting QB for cc vs Jefferson. Watch out!!!
Strong performance from Evan Rogoff out of CC this weekend. I see lots of potential, and I believe he will be a vital piece of CC through the playoffs and into next year. Definitely one of the best players to come out of the Huron League
That's on SMCC. They were the ones that dropped Ida years ago. They want a win in week one. It will never happen. Ida scrapes every two years for a first team to play. However we do now have a GREAT Saturday night match up in basketball this year which should be a great game.
Hawkins🐐
I think people forget how chris and Gary come up with these power rankings. It's not based off who will beat who necessarily, especially due to the size difference of schools from Monroe all the way to whiteford. It takes into consideration how they project they will finish through the end of the season and have the best playoff runs. Just my two cents.
Have Ida schedule SMCC. They could play week 1 instead of each team playing the Lake Fentons and Chandler Parks of the world. Fans would like to see it and it would be close to home and a game where visiting fans would actually attend the game. It's a win win, except for the team that loses.
Jamie Hawkins carried CC
Why isn’t Jamie Hawkins in the player of the week?
You guys always have SMCC up there. i would put Ida up against them every day. No doubt. Ida would beat them every time. Maybe its time to expend the blog and actually get people from other leagues besides the huron league homers (who are not Frank) to talk about these other schools.
Jefferson still needs a win…
Will they have Wiggins (the qb) back for SMCC?
Look for Frank and I to put out the playoff picture soon. We will go through all the numbers and what ifs. How many 5-4 teams will qualify. Possible playoff opponents and such.
as of now, it looks like Dundee will need to beat Hillsdale in week 9 to get in. Summerfield looks to have to beat Sand Creek this week for their best shot to get in as well.
Much is on the line these next 2 weeks, stay tuned as we lay it out for you.
If anyone has any questions about the playoff picture, ask away.
Very impressive win? 🤣
