  3. Good to see airport improving, this mirrors what happened when Coach Redmond join the program back in the mid and early 90s, over the first few years started improving the record and then turned into a powerhouse. It’s going to happen again.

  4. Ok, that's a bummer. Hopefully something works out to get Summerfield in. Thanks for the explanation, you guys do a great job.

  5. Summerfield would have been the last of the 5-4 teams to get in for Class C. Since Richard became a non auto qualifier with the loss today. They dropped summerfield from the last team in, to the first team out.

  6. Great question.

All the automatic qualifiers are in. 6 win teams. 5-3 teams with an 8 game schedule. All those are in.

So now we have let’s say 45 spots left to fill with the non auto qualifiers. With Richard Losing, they become one of those 5-4 non auto qualifiers in Class C. They took Summerfield’s spot because they have more Playoff points.

    Does that make sense?

  7. Wouldn't have Clarkston have been and Richard in if Richard wins? Why would them losing hurt Summerfield? They would have taken up 2 spots either way?

  8. LAST NIGHT WAS SENIOR NIGHT IN MILAN… THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT… THE MOST DOMINATING PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR FOR THE BIG REDS… MANNY, COOK, RICHARD, TRE, ALEX, BARTNECKI, T-SIZZLE (SCHULTZ), DJ, MARKOWSKI, BECK, SMITH AND AESCHBACKER… IT HAS BEEN MY PLEASURE WATCHING YOU PLAY FOOTBALL FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS… THE SEASON IS NOT OVER… PLAYOFFS START NEXT WEEK… DO-IT-ALL HINES, MR. BIG PLAY EVAN FURTNEY, MR HUSTLE MIKEY MORRIS, CRE PENNINGTON AND SAM ALL HAD BIG GAMES TO HELP MILAN WIN AGAINST RIVAL LINCOLN… IF I FORGOT ANYONE I AM SORRY… KEEP THE CHAINS MOVING MEN… TOM AESCHBACKER

P.S. LOVED THE DOUBLE QB THREAT LAST NIGHT…

  9. Good game at Airport last night. Surprised at how bad Tecumseh really was. But it was good to see the Airport seniors go out like that. I still believe it should’ve been a better record. I saw some good things mixed in last night that hopefully will lean toward the right direction of opening that offense up a little bit. On top of Bondy, Dyl, and Goins having good games I saw the ball get spread around a little more than it has been lately. Blankenship had a nice catch for a long TD. I saw Potcova and Jacob Pak have some good hard nosed runs last night. I still think our offense could have used a more physical style runner in the backfield at times. Just my opinion-no need for backlash. I want to thank the Airport football team and coaches for a fun and exciting season. Hopefully the program can continue to go in the right direction and get those kids excited to play Airport football the way it can be played. NEVER SETTLE and keep working hard boys. Individual success means absolutely nothing without coming together and staying together as a TEAM. I had fun as The Troll and I really wish we were 6-3 so I can sign my name. Maybe next year I guess…..Good luck to all the playoff teams!!

  10. Chris/Gary, Any big surprises this year in region teams regular season finishes?
I thought some teams over achieved while a few fell short of expectations.
    Thoughts?

  11. Glad to see Airport's seniors go out as winners last night. Congrats to Grosse Ile on a perfect regular season and good luck to everybody that made the playoffs. EM

  12. As a RV person, we naturally hate GI, as they are our biggest rival. However, nothing but respect to them, going 9-0 in regular season is quite an accomplishment. Good luck in post season, hope you take it all the way. All the Huron league will be cheering you on!

  13. Every time I been to a Dearborn venue regardless of the sport it seems to be the same Poor sportsmanship !!! Sad really

  14. MILAN WAS VERY WELL PREPARED FOR LINCOLN, WHO COULDN'T GET 'ANY TRACTION AGAINST MILAN'S BALANCED ATTACK. EIGHT TOUCHDOWNS WERE REELED OFF THROUGH MILAN'S OFFENSIVE LINE. EVERYTHING WORKED AND ON DEFENSE THEY GAVE UP A FEW BIG PLAYS TO LINCOLNS SUPERSTARS, BUT PLAYED WITH A INTENSITY AND STOPPED MOST OF LINCOLNS TRICK PLAYS— A VERY WELL PREPARED AND COACHED TEAM– ACCOLADES TO COACH HOSKINS AND HIS STAFF. NOW ON TO THE PLAYOFFS.

  15. its Just people guessing what division they will be in. Nothing more. Educated guesses.

Divisions are not decided until after week 9. Whiteford and GI’s enrollment this year put them on the border of 2 different divisions. One week people guess they will be in one Divison. The next week they guess another.

But nobody truly knows until all 256 teams qualify and those are divided into 8 divisions of 32 by enrollment. And that is done after week 9 games are complete.

  16. Not saying this to complain, only for some of our Downriver League brothers that may run into Crestwood in the playoffs. Some of the most unsportsmanlike bush league players on that team I’ve seen in a long time. Crestwood down 29-13 in the fourth quarter with 3 mins left, 4th down and like 20 yards on their own 10 yard line, and GI does the classy thing and doesn’t rush the punt. Crestwood runs a fake punt and is unsuccessful. GI calls basic run plays from the Crestwood 35 or so— CW sends a player on a 15 yard sprint untouched to try and truck GI QB Thompson on every play, hitting him full speed several seconds after a simple handoff to kill the clock. No penalty, but ok… GI drives down to the 5 yard line, with the QB getting tracked and targeted after each handoff. GI goes to take a knee at the CW 5 with 25 seconds left, refs warn the defense that GI is taking a knee— and at least one Crestwood player pancakes a GI lineman when they take a knee. Overall a classy game up until the final 3 mins. CW helmets being thrown everywhere on the sideline and hits to apparently intentionally injure players at the end.

Again, our kids are tough and showed great restraint. Just hoping that a fellow downriver area team that may see Crestwood in the playoffs will be cautious when considering offering a goodwill gesture to an already beaten Crestwood team in the future.

  17. What a year in the Huron League and certainly congrats to GI. As said, in my 15 years, I don't recall a stronger year in terms of the teams.

  18. Thank you Grosse Ile you have made us so proud of you. Respect!! Nothing but good wishes and good luck for the playoffs and Hopefully a State Championship for John Bodner, who definitely deserves one for his dedication and commitment to the Grosse Ile team. Goodluck and best wishes with all my heart to all of you .Stay healty and stay strong.

  19. Every team played hard in the Huron League Tonight way to represent!!! And congrats to Grosse Ile on the 9-0 season! Be interesting to see if they’re D4 or 5

  20. Very average concession stand from Lincoln Park. I think they put more effort into their 20 raffle baskets than their concession stand. Ran out of lids for hot chocolate first, and then ran out of hot chocolate. Not good for the most uncomfortable game of the season.
