Flat Rock 2018 Season Preview and Predictions

Flat Rock is coming off of their best season since 1990 as the Rams finished with a 7-3 record and an MHSAA playoff birth. Flat Rock will once again be coached by Brandon Reaume who is entering his 4th year with the Rams.

Flat Rock returns only 2 starters from a team that averaged 21 points ppg last season. At QB will be junior Ravion Davis, who is a threat the run and throw the ball. Look for Dustin Modi to get a bulk of the carries out of the backfield. Tyler Hedlund and Dylan Miniuk head up an inexperienced offensive line.

Defense was the strength of the Ram team last season and the Rams return 5 starters. This year’s defense will be led by 4 year varsity starter Michael Simons at LB. Andrew Trimai will help anchor the defensive line along with newcomer Tyler Hunt. Senior Seth Kamin is a returning starter in the defensive backfield.

Many would expect Flat Rock to take a step backward after last year’s success and heavy graduation losses. However, that remains to be seen as the Rams return 15 letter winners that experienced Flat Rock’s first trip to the playoffs in a generation and they have one of the best in the business in Coach Reaume.

Chris’s Pick: 5-4
Gary’s Pick: 4-5
Frank’s Pick: 3-6

  1. Mark my words . After 2018 FR Football will be down. They have a nice stretch of talent and athletes right now. That is going to change.

  2. There are many athletes who live in Flat Rock but play at various different schools because of the long streak of poor football they played there. If they string together a few winning years that may shift and they may keep more kids in the program.

  3. How can you say when the tables turn after this year. The table was suppose to be already turned after last year and by the sounds of it they look pretty darn good. Flat Rock was pretty much already written off after losing the seniors they lost last year. I don’t think they’ll be written off anytime soon.

  4. Yea the Male athletes were exceptional in that school when they went 0-18 then 3-6.really?? Vince Lombardi wouldn't win with those kids.. even if more kids came out the Male athletes in the school then were not good.

The best thing they did was get football tech. Also, the kids like Reaume but we will see when the tables turn after this year

  5. Furthermore, FR’a coaches have done something to help develop the talent that was there. That is the sign of a good coaching. They have also improved the numbers over there which comes from being likeable and able to relate to this kids.

  6. I really don’t think you can underestimate the job the coaching staff has done at FR. Some people over there wanted to get out of the league because they thought they couldn’t compete. Whatever FR’s record is this year, they will compete.

  7. Dude fr has 1 good season now they have bill belichick and bill parcells..cmon.. they were loaded last year and have some good seniors this year. We will see if they are coached that well with less talent..

  8. Glad to see Chris giving FR a little love. Let’s shoot for 6-3 though and a 2nd playoff appearance in as many years. Coach Reaume and staff will surprise a lot of people this year. They have some great athletes on both sides of the ball, the boys work hard, and they are disciplined. Don’t look past the Rams- they will not rollover for anyone!
