Coming off possibly the best year in Marauder history(9-2, district final), Carlson is set to make another run at the Down River League title. Patrolling the sidelines, in his 2nd year at OAC, will be Jack Giarmo. Coach Giarmo has an outstanding overall record of 153 wins and 56 losses.
Returning Starters Offense: 4
Returning Starters Defense: 4
Players to Watch: Dominic Bodner – G, Brandon Stewart – RB/LB, Ian Stewart – TE/LB, Justin Barger – OT/DE, Austin Damron – TE, Jon Apostolovich – TE, Tom Sucharski – RB, Bryce Stewart – RB, Dylan Howard – RB, Anthony Greear – RB.
Carlson is going through what they are calling, a rebuilding of both their offense and defense. “We have some athletic players who are working hard. We will need to mature quickly as we play an explosive Woodhaven team our first game.”
Keys to success: “We are moving kids around to different positions to find the right combination on offense and defense. The key is for the guys to keep learning and working hard on and off the field. We need to stay healthy all year.” “Hopefully, our kids will have a better understanding of our offense as this is the second year.”
FNV Thoughts: I’ll be honest, I’m not looking for Carlson to take a step back at all. This season very well could eclipse last season, as far as a league title and maybe advancing further in the playoffs. Brandon and Ian Stewart are set to have monster years. We knew here at FNV, once Jack took over at Carlson, the DRL would see a possible shift in power. We didn’t think however, it would come this quickly. With that said, Woodhaven, Wyandotte, Allen Park and Trenton, are all trending upward and will compete for the league crown.
Gary’s Pick: 8-1
Chris’s Pick: 8-1
Frank’s Pick: 7-2
We can only go by what the coach gives us… if he winds up at say QB, well then the coach made a change.
me thinks Ian Stewart-great kid – His offensive position as noted is incorrect-just sayin
Here’s a good question-How many more kids on Carlson’s team have the last name Stewart?
