Thoughts and Questions?

Congrats to Riverview on a fine season.

Were the Airport faithful happy with the season?

Who is the favorite in the Huron League for next season?

Does Bedford reload again or rebuild?

We will have our All-Blog team soon. Please submit any nominees to fridaynightvictors@gmail.com

Will Carlson be better in year two under Giarmo?

It was a good year, although very tough to cover 14 teams. We could use some help.

Will Dundee turn the corner?

There were 6 new coaches this season, they finished with a combined 25-29 regular season record.

Does Erie Mason take a step forward?

Gary and I each picked those coaches to finish with a combined 25-29 regular season record.

Will Flat Rock return to obscurity or is this the new norm?

Look for the final Power Rankings in the next day or so.

Look for Grosse Ile to make a return to the upper echelon of the Huron League next year.

Look for our All-Huron league team shortly.

Will Huron finally win a league title in football?

Will there be another Ida reload?

Does Jefferson rebound from their winless season?

Can Milan find some depth in a school of 780 students?

I hope Monroe can get back on track.

I don’t see Riverview going away any time soon.

SMCC is my early season favorite to win the Huron League.

Go Green!

Go Blue?

  1. "Make up your mind, Riverview not going anywhere soon, but SMCC is your early favorite. Hmmmm?

I believe Riverview beat SMCC handily this year. Now that Riverview has a great coach, have established their new offense and will have a heavy flow of players for years to come. No one will be beating them anytime soon. Over 900 kids to SMCC's 300. No amount of Preying is going to make that happen. REALITY !!

I just saw this…. "not going anywhere" means that Riverview will be good. They won the HL and will not "go anywhere" from that spot.

  2. Didn't Flat Rock beat you too, Genius. Anybody can win on almost any given week. Look at the college games and even the NFL. SMCC has a knack for really showing up and winning games they probably shouldn't. We'll see how it pans out next year.

Personally, I think its all about film watching. SMCC watches more film that anybody. Football and Basketball. That's a huge reason for their success. If they could watch film in all the other sports they aren't good at, they might be even more successful.

Work smarter, not harder. Ever heard that saying.

  3. I have no idea how good Flat Rock will be next year, but come on. They lose a ton. To say that they only need to replace 2 on D and 4 on O is not accurate. They had a bunch of really good seniors. Without looking at a roster, I can think of at least 6-7 seniors that started in both the O and the D. Don’t put stuff out there that just isn’t true. There’s no reason for it. It’s November lol

  4. All I can say is Riverview is lucky they played a very young SMCC team early in the season before they figured a few things out or that game could have went either way- Just ask Flat Rock. I'll have to go with SMCC next year.

  5. Wow if that's true about Airport playing Monroe week 1 nobody can accuse Duffy of scheduling cupcakes. Hope the D is improved. ME

  6. Flat Rock maybe 4 wins next year. We’re very lucky in SMCC and Jefferson games. Losing 23 seniors and all players that made any difference will be gone. Only player on JV that may help is the QB but will have no one around him to help.
Flat Rock had a nice year in a down year for the league.
The group coming up has not won at any level
    Sorry dude that’s the truth.

  7. 1048 saying Airport has no help coming from the JV team is just not accurate nor can you predict that… Just saying… This is the most competitive ive seen the Huron league in a long time and I think it will be similar next year.

  8. @9:16
This is a blog. A blog is a place for people to express their opinions. I like the part of telling me to shut up. I am not with Milan or Grosse Ile. Flat Rock will have a hard time replacing the seniors that are leaving and I don't care how many of your juniors are coming back or what your JV did.

  10. It's just someone's opinion. It's not a big deal. Really, its not. If they have people coming back, just set the record straight. Remember opinions are like *ssholes, everyone has one.

  11. This is this thing I hate about the blog. Because nobody has a clue, and to say Flat Rock is gonna “return to the cellar” is ludicrous if you have any idea about what they have coming back.

On a defense that finished in the top 3 in league play has to replace 2 people. That’s it. On offense they lose 4 guys. The senior class was loaded with some of the best talent ever to play at FR. But this junior class that’s coming up rotated in the whole year and got plenty of experience. Flat Rock will be just fine next year, and unless your Milan or Grosse ile I suggest you shut up till next season.

  12. Milan has a lot of JV kids that will be on varsity next year!!! Plus, we will still have Hines and Aeschbacker!!! No doubt that Hoskins will have his boys ready to go!!! And Go Blue!!!

  13. Milan has 2 of the best players in the area with Aeshbacker and Hines, I look for them to be very competitive next year… Replacing Furtney will be an issue.

  14. Riverview will need to rebuild next year. They return less than anyone in the league and losing 21 and 22 are top level players. They don’t come along very often. Why would anyone say they return 19 starters. Their team was mostly seniors. Milan, SMCC and Huron will be on top of the league early prediction

  15. 2018 Huron League Prediction

Riverview returns a lot, will be tough to beat
Huron will be good , best JV record and full freshman team
SMCC will contend for the league . They played 8 sophomores on a varsity team that went to regional finals.
Grosse Ile will be better than 2 win season, surprise team in the league next year.
Milan losing a bunch , no help from the JV team good coach doesn’t always mean a good team. Need the horses to win.
Flat Rock has some line man back and a nice JV Q B with not much around him. Flat Rock’s short run is done.
Airport was a 3 plays away from 1-8 this year . Have good backs retuning and no help from JV. Bottom feeder again.
Jefferson may win a couple games in 2018 but still at the low end with Airport and Flat Rock.
Good luck to all next year.

  16. I agree the whole o line for the view needs more recognition. As of before their semi final game they were #2 in the state for rushing yds and top 20 in the country.

  18. Congrats Riverview on a good season
Huron league favorite next year: SMCC
Flat Rock will return to the cellar.
No new coach except Giarmo made an impact the rest were just mediocre.
Huron no league title in site.
Jefferson will get a couple wins next year.

  19. Riverview o line was incredible to watch this year but we are not returning 19 starters. We’re graduating 19 seniors. 3 starters returning on offense and 4 on defense. There’s a lot of talent that can/will step in and step up but make no mistake, we’re geaduating a lot of talent too.

  20. We had some talented kids on offense for Airport and the entire offensive line returning but that didnt nearly make up for a veey bad defense hence we were 4-5. Nothing to be happy about other than more wins than the year before period!

  21. It was a good season for Airport considering they went from 2-16 the previous two years to missing the playoffs by one game. Right now I would probably go with SMCC as the favorite, they have a lot of talent coming back. ME

  22. Airport had a great season. Only two games were lost on mistakes or inconsistency. In my opinion Airport was a 7-2 caliber team this season. Size could be the downfall of Airport next year. Only time will tell though. Happy to see the Huron League open and competitive. Was not a team in the league this year that could definitely be counted out, everyone competed and played with high intensity. Hope it will stay that way. Go Jets!
