  1. First time here, and after reading some recent posts and this one all I can say is wow. I am embarrassed for the Huron parents. You have a coach that dropped everything and moved his family here and all you do is rag on the guy. Crying that your kid isn’t the starting QB, or RB. Didn’t realize that parents are so delusional to think their kid playing at huron is the next Aaron Rodgers. Maybe you should give the new coach a chance, it’s not going to happen overnight. Hopefully these parents that are complaining have sons that are graduating and they can just go away and take their selfish drama with them. Would be enjoyable to watch football again without them involved.

  2. Congratulations rams !State playoffs here we come! As a parent I would like to thank our coaches for teahing these kids hard work and dedication pays off!

  3. 4:30 they started every game last year at their old school and the younger one started every game as a freshman. So you're wrong that they moved here to get some "playing time and recognition" sorry the team doesn't revolve around your son

  4. Keep covering for "classy" Flat Rock Chris. Sucks when the truth comes out about your homeboys. Feel free to stay over there with them

  5. Here's a tip to all you young folks at Flat Rock. If you're going to vandalize, don't snap chat it. Otherwise people find out who did it

  6. OK, ease up people. It sounds like it was a defensive battle last night. The better team won. Move on and start focusing, every game from here on out is basically a playoff game.

  7. Maybe this will get posted. Anyone seen that football movie the Titans. There is a quote in there as there team is losing." Hey coach there one step ahead of you out there. You got to show them something they haven't seen before. " Pardon my punctuation not sure what symbol it is lol. Still on the reservation. Go Chiefs.

  8. I agree with your comments 8:43.
Huron has strong program and their #s show it. No other huron league team has over 110 kids in high school football program. They play and work hard, no need for anyone to degrade coaches or program. They have worked hard at building a strong program. I see Huron stands full every week with fans whether home or away. Keep working hard chiefs, your fans support you. Good luck next week!

  9. @8:39 It is right of passage to paint the rocks. Done by many teams in area for many many years. FR had their rocks painted, cant say same for what happened over at NBH. Rams have history of destruction of property, that is fact. Just ask Gib-Carlson.

  10. Hey Troll, Huron Has been and even now are successful. What the Huron fans are upset about is there is a big difference between successful and champion. And that is where Huron fans/players expected to be.

  11. The Airport kids have nothing to hang their heads about. They started off strong and never gave up. I am very proud of my Jet and all the other boys that out put in a great effort. It wasn't the outcome the Seniors had hoped for. Win or lose though Airport always does it with class.

  12. To the Huron people that keep complaining about your head coach-maybe you'll get your wish and Speiss will leave after his younger son graduates. All that would do is delay your program from success even longer.

    The Troll

  13. Fun game to watch last night at Airport. Offensively some of the best play calling I've seen all year. Those Airport boys kept fighting and fighting. Unfortunately 2 kickoff returns really hurt. I see Airport in another shootout next week against Tecumseh.

  14. I for one am happy Spiess is here at Huron and I hope he stays. He is a good guy and a good coach. Please remember that Huron has made the playoffs the last 3 seasons. The previous coaching staff did an excellent job. This program hasn't been a state bottom feeder in a long time. Remember this team went to the semi-finals a short time ago. We need to stop acting like we didn't have football prior to this season. Huron will have a program no matter who the coach is. In my opinion it's alright to be a little critical, every program that doesn't win has done that. If we start winning games, people will stop complaining. It's how people are wired.

  15. Huron started the disrespect towards flat rock by painting our rocks. We painted the scoreboard with yet another W over Huron. Flat rock > Huron.

  16. Congratulations to Riverview! Also Flat Rock! Great seasons guys! And, after seeing the SMCC/Jefferson game last night, great job by #6 for the Falcons, that kid did it ALL!! Congrats to the former Centaur!

  17. @10:10pm, you guys may have your own personal, large home bleachers, but I didn't insult your manhood. There were very few Jefferson fans in the stands. I figure, a quarter of them were band parents, and a quarter were cheerleader parents. Barely any students in the student section. I did not insult your team in any way. And, if your best kids aren't on the field, where are they? Fill those immense stands, and support your kids, and maybe some of that will rub off on them, and they might wanna play on Friday nights in the fall. Jefferson has a very strong football tradition in this county. Id would be nice if you could help.

  18. You can't even breath on a kid running down the sidelines without out an unnessary roughness penalty being called. As fat as Hurons offense it's too late. I posted back after the 2nd game this coach is too predictable in his play calling and after game 4 everybody has caught on. To go 8 quarters and score 7 points is pathetic. Then this week for FR they go with a new defensive scheme when they have been sucessful against the spread offenses they played this year. Leave the D alone and try something different on offense.. Congrats to FR kids and there CREATIVE COACHES and good luck in the playoffs. Chief fan.

  19. Well #49 is our TE and he's going on to the Univ. of Wisconsin! I think everyone has a player or two or 3 that are the best! That's normal but in all the teams I seen in the Huron League I didn't see any players that quit on their team in any game!!But I sure saw some parents do it! lol I wish I had a grandson who was perfect! But he's 15 years old! Good Luck to everybody that makes the playoffs!!

  20. FR's Defense was stellar once again! To stop Huron on 4th and short 4 times speaks volumes to their talent! I believe after last nights scores are added FR defense gave up the fewest points in league play all season! GO RAM D!!

  21. Keep your head up Vikings! I have never seen a team go through so many gut wrenching losses but kudos to them for not giving up at halftime

  22. So I'm gonna put it like this…

I haven't followed the Chiefs much due to my work schedule and not being able to make it to the games… But judging by the fact we've now gone and lost 3 games and only having scored 17 total points in said games has me highly questioning the Coaches offense.. If it didn't work the first time, switch it up..

  23. to the Huron fans complaining, I hope Coach Spiess resigns and you guys go back to being the worst team in the Huron League. I am sure it is only a handful of people but you are embarassing your school and program. Get over the fact your kid isn't the QB and support these kids and coaches who have worked hard to push your program in the right direction.

  24. I like to thank the Flat Rock coaching staff for helping our boys reach a goal that some never thought possible for the Rams. They Have Instilled In Our Boys A Winning Attitude While Showing What Sportsmanship Is All about. You dont need to bring down your competitor, just play your best and the results will show your effort in the end.
Great job to all the boys who go out and represent the Huron League. Us parents just need to stop and remember that these are our boys memories and don't tarnish them with our adult jaded additudes. Good Luck to all all the playoff bound teams!

  25. @9:46 My high school years are long gone so I have no problem with outcome of game. I didnt lose. I was there as spectator to enjoy a good rivaly game. I had no dog in the fight as they say. I didnt like seeing some ram players who behaved poorly in their win. Win and lose with pride is my point. Respect the sport, players, coaches and fans.

  26. @ 10:47 really? You just proved my point.
BTW:No my jacket is tucked away in a box but my pride is shown by my accomplishments in life. I learned and have earned respect.

  27. Cant win football games when you cant pass tge ball. Hurons kicker had the best pass of tge night. Sad year for the cheifs. They are not playing like the team they are. The talent isnt getting used in the right spots. No identity on offense. Moral is as low as it gets. I guess keeping the kids til 830 every night and sat practice aint the key

  28. @ 11:19..going to 50 yard line and standimg strong as a team shows unity and pride for their team. Huron equestrians throwing spears is about pride for their culture and school.
Rivalry games are heated, but it doesnt excuse bad sportsmanship. Again I only requested for some to show pride in win.
In regards to bashing a coach, it is not needed. He has the title of coach and play caller whether good or bad. I lived through a FR coach who ran same play over and over and over. I still respected him each game and came out to play hard with ram pride alongside 25+ team mates. I believe the chief players will do the same for their coach.
Many valuable lessons are learned playing high school football, Sportsmanship and pride are just a couple.

  29. Huron League football this was exciting each week because the teams were very competitive…..not a cupcake in the entire league. Jefferson' revord, unfortunately, was not indicative of how competitive they were and Huron's record is perhaps better. Airport played teams tough all year, just had some bad luck at times. Milan was extremely competitive despite low numbers and several season ending injuries to key players. Riverview and Flat Rock had fantastic seasons. How will the playoff teams fair….who know, I can guarantee that they will show up and make their schools and communities proud.

For the sideline experts who are still trying to live their high school careers through their kids, or someone else's, it will never be good enough. Yo them I say….That is too bad! You are missing the boat. These games should not, and will not, define who young men are or who they will become. At least it shouldn't. Applaud they for their effort, the time the coaches and kids put in to prepare, and simply enjoy the game. Win or lose! By the way, I have seen every team in the league play this year, some twice, and this is the best all around display of sportsmanship I gave seen in my 12 years around this league. Well done.

  30. @11:27, Win and lose with class or pride. I agree with that. Another reason not to bring up when players from this or that team did this or that afterwards. Another reason to look in the mirror sir.

  31. From an FR fan and alum, someone reffing a CC and Jefferson game may not be the best judge of talent in the area if they are not around here much. A lot of referees move around in Southeast Michigan. Watching two T teams is very boring and I am sure reffing one is too. You can watch both and think they are awful until they pick a part a team with a more complex offense but no D. Just look at the Downriver League, hasn't seen a good true T team lately until Carlson this year and their only team that has come close to making a run can barely beat them in Giarmo's first year.

  32. EM, the refs have seen more games and more teams than anybody on this blog. I would say their opinion is a very good one. Also, yes those 5 have done them well. That's my point. They shouldn't. A good DC would have good have have linebackers stuff the run and stay home on the ends. Just my opinions. I am not impressed with Huron league football this year. Sorry.

  33. @ 10:29 Never called out any specific kids and believe me I could have by # and name. I want those who had pride to mentor their mates. Win and lose with pride. I am not acting or trying to be above anyone. Play hard and enjoy your victory as a good sportsman does by celebrating with team and fans. No one likes a poor winner or loser.
Side note: This blog helps promote huron league football and I am proud to see it promoting our huron league players. It is about the kids yet a few want to try and bring ugliness. I only asked for good sportsmanship. It is acceptable to ask some to stay humble and show pride.
Good luck to all Huron League teams in last week of regular season and those onto playoffs. Stay healthy!
    — FR alumni

  34. BTW congrats to Riverview on winning your first outright league title in 13 years and congrats to Chris's alma mater on clinching it's first playoff spot in a long time. EM

  35. @10:18 I'm glad you find it funny to say the things you say about airports football team! Big tough guy hiding behind the internet! They are kids maybe you should remember that. It's amazing to me how a grow man can talk smack about kids and hide as anonymous. You should feel good about yourself!!!! These kids work hard and play with heart!!!

  36. You wanna talk about FR being classless?? Huron runs out and gathered at the 50 and waves there flag. They throw spears in front of the away team when there home. Please, huron has plenty of PF and Flat rock did too because it’s a rivalry game. Stop being upset about the class, just because your coach runs the same 5 plays in a row. 0-4 on 4th down!!

  37. Huron has no one to run up the middle! So stop trying that!!! Maybe a 4th and 1 but not every play especially when your down. You killed the runners the 1st quarter! Then put them out on defense? There is probably 15-20 guys who could run the sideline off a QB option . And there is a QB on that team who can run that! QB handing ball off up the middle. Huron probably has 10-12 of them . But guys who can get 4-5yards up the middle? I seen 2 and they can't do it all night! Huron Offence way to predictable!!!

  38. I would like to say that Despite all those Negative fans from Airport Those kids never Quit tonight! Instead they gave Milan all they could handle! Both Teams couldn't play much defense tonight But it made for our most exciting game we played this year! Congrats to the Airport kids They played their Butts off!

  39. Huron needs to think about next year because IF(!!!!)(Thurston) they make the playoffs, Carlson will walk away with them

  40. One more thing 9:58 you said SMCC runs the same 5 plays over and over. Well they've been running the same five plays over and over for well over a decade and it's gotten them 4 trips to Ford Field and one state championship. Next time think before you post. EM

  41. Anonymous Updated Final Predictions from last week ARE the final standings:
    Riverview 6-1
    Milan 5-2
    Flat Rock 5-2
    SMCC 4-3
    Huron 4-3
    Airport 2-5
    Grosse Ile 2-5
    Jefferson 0-7

  42. Great League play this year. Let's wrap this up with non-conference games next week and on to the playoffs. My how time flys!!

  43. "Humility and Ram pride will take you far in life" …. is this now an after school special? When you show up for a job interview do you suggest wearing the Ram varsity coat and the pride will take over from there.

  44. 51-45. I’m not sure I’ve seen more of a backyard game in my life. The league used to be about defense. Back to back kick returns and the second to give up the lead w 2 minutes to play? That was ugly.

  45. Hey 9:58 you said the refs gave you their opinion of the Huron league? THE REFS? Really? You really value the refs opinions that much? EM

  46. @10:14 look in the mirror. Kids are kids so please do not try to act like you are above all. It goes both ways, trust me. Just not going to talk about it on a blog. I would rather not call out other teams players like that.

  47. @ 10:04 how many late hits dis FR get away with..or how about block in back that should have been an ejection. I wasnt going to say anything about those but since penalties were mentioned.
Again, just show humility and ram pride at all times on and off the field and it will take you far in life.
    Good luck Rams!

  48. @ 9:46…ask FR about meeting beteeen the two teams because of a sucker punch to Huron kid and FR players screaming obscentities behind huron coach house. Look at comments made last week about Huron players by press. Win or lose you show pride and sportsmanship. No one said Flat Rock didnt play good gane just need to reign in about a dozen players. It will cost your program. Again good luck in playoffs and show FR pride not ugliness.
FR football alumni (6 years wearing green and gold w pride even when winless)

  49. Did the Huron coaches not see Flat Rock blitzing up the middle the whole second half? They were in the backfield just as ball handed off. So let's run toss left 3 straight times. Or maybe toss right? Only one RB fast enough to get outside but he doesn't get that many touches. This whole running back by committee hasn't worked.

  50. We had plenty of home fans. We have very large bleachers unlike you guys, who don't have any of your own. Program is down, we have a better football team in the hallways. We get everybody to play, we would do very well. Not the coaching, our best kids aren't on the field.

  51. Absolutely pathetic football in the Huron League. When supposedly great team like Huron loses, Milan gives up 45 to Airport and SMCC just runs the same 5 plays and wins with 3 sophomores leading the way, folks, the Huron league is way down. Riverview might be the only somewhat good team we have.

I spoke to refs at different parts of the game and they said we would get destroyed heading anywhere north of here. The SMCC-Jefferson game was one of the most predictable, unexciting football games I have ever seen. Between both teams they may have 10 different plays.

Football down here is more of a film watching contest than anything. No formation changes, No blitzs', no stunts, no passing routes, uhhh, no passing period.

When a successful offenses' main weapon is deception with the ball, that's pretty sad. SMCC did win and their defense is pretty good, but in my opinion the league is awful if anybody had a good defensive coordinator that would be easy to stop.

  52. Impressive win Flat Rock! It's enjoyable to see a well-coached, disciplined team running a diverse offense that uses the entire width and length of the field with multiple playmakers. I may start attending Ram games instead of what I've been watching.

    – Chief Fan (barely now)

  53. Sad to see Flat Rock not be classy. No reason to taunt, that is where their true colors were sbown. Very disappointed as FR alumni. Remember good sportsmanship next time. I was with you when you went 0-9. You didn't like when teams taunted you. Stay classy or you just look like punks. You have a good team this year and be proud of yiur success. Good luck in playoffs.

  54. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with the lack of home fans at the SMCC/Jefferson game tonight. Your team may have not won any games this year, but those kids play their butts off. They deserve your support and your cheers. Coach Gennoe will turn your program around, but he and his boys could use some fans at the game. Cheer for your team when they win or lose. We've been blessed with great weather this fall. Five dollars isn't too much for a nice evening of football and camaraderie. Try it sometime.

  55. AP defense over last 4 games gives up 51, 21, 36 and 51 or 40 points a game. That ain’t gonna cut it in the run heavy Huron League.

  56. Two Friday nights and Seven full quarters and Huron can't put up 1 point? If the playoff man comes calling, you might as well decline. Sad day for the Chiefs…

In the 4th and driving, and the play call was that trick sweep that we've been failing at most of the night. Better get an offensive coordinator hired their coach.

  57. The Jets air it out again, hitting Goins in stride from the slot. The Jets followed that up by recovering the onside kick and are in business again. 35-28 nearly at the end of the 3rd.

  58. Underdogs hanging around or leading so far, according to this weeks picks.. All about High School Football upsets baby.

  59. Chris, you are right. Huron’s offense is SO predictable. I know if they are running or passing every play. I haven’t been wrong yet. GO RAMS!!

    -2015 FR Alumni

  60. Milan put together a nice drive in the last minute of the half. They get ball at half as well. Airport needs a stop to get that offense back on the field and keep rolling!!!

    The Troll

  61. FR may have to rely on their strong defense. Dotson has a hand injury that appears it may be serious. First series without Dotson and the Rams fumble the snap and turn it over. Hope everything is ok with Jacob

  62. Playoff implications abound tonight. This is a great year for high school football. Good luck to all who are playing for something, but a big loud GOOD LUCK goes out to the Bears (Roosevelt and Jefferson).
