Great win by Ida!
I will be at the Carlson/Roosevelt game next week.
Mules make the playoffs!
Choo Choo? Riverview’s backs were bigger than Huron’s line.
Flat Rock just finds a way.
Don’t look now, but here come the Falcons.
Big Reds like the island?
Vikings snake bit again?
Looks like the Jets never really got off the ground tonight.
You can’t win if you don’t score.
Jefferson will get a win, I guarantee it!
Monroe, you guys are killing me.
Huron hasn’t been shut out in four years.
Nice job by Gary on his picks this week.
Players play, coaches coach and parents cheer, not jeer.
Hats off to Jeff Potter!
Sometimes maybe the talent isn’t as good as the fanbase thinks. Just saying.
Gary and I are looking fairly decent on our preseason picks. Much could change the last two weeks though.
Thank to all of those who took the time to say hi last night.
Georgia was at the Huron game last night and will be at the Big House today. Welcome to the Great Lakes state!
Go Green!
Forward down the field!
For all of you geniuses that know everything about football, how about you coach? And the Airport Dad yelling “you’re an idiot Duffy” after not sending out the kick team for a 57 yd field goal, you’re an idiot. Grow up
Thanks for the shoutout Chris. You guys do a great job on the blog. I follow it every friday night down here in Georgia. Its always great to come back home to the great state of michigan!
8:45. Thanks for the enlightenment. Why hasn't anyone ever explained how HS Football works before?
Everyone shut up now:).
I don't think anyone has anything against the kids from airport. They do have great kids. Then again, every school has great kids. I know where the angst comes from, it comes from the parents who were relentless on their own coaches last year and these guys were good people and airport alums. I'm not saying it's right, but I think people are just giving it back to The airport parents a bit. Believe me, a lot of stuff makes it to us but never gets posted and a lot of it is about what I just said. I also know that 95% of the airport parents are good people as well. Every fan base has their jerks.
What does everyone have against airport. Grow up. You guys are acting great like you're 2. Chris if you' made these guys put there name they wouldn't be saying have this stuff. AIrpoer has some great kids. Just not a great team. Leave them alone
Coaches coach and players play. Coaches spend many hours working hard and mentoring young men. Most times the actual coaching and X and Os are secondary and take less time than the other 12 months demands.
With that said , coaches put together a game plan each week based on hours of study and prep. Every play ever invented is designed to score or designed to stop a score.
Come Friday night, it’s up to the kids to block, tackle, throw, catch, kick, run, etc. Coaches can’t do any of that. So what it usually comes down to is who has more talent, who is faster or who is stronger. It’s on the players not coaches to get it done.
So lay off knocking the coaches. High school football coaches work for about 10 cents an hour and for many it costs them money to coach your kids.
No players I’ve seen from these parts going to the pros or even college. Let them enjoy the experience let the coaches teach and mentor.
Parents just shut up.
Wouldn't trade our coaching staff for anyone in this league.. May not always agree with everything, but can't argue with the lessons being taught and the high character of all of them.

Just because you went to airport doesn't mean you are going to be a good fit/coach. They need to look else where. Kinda like Huron, Carlson and Ida did.
Huron we will gladly switch coaching staffs with you.
… FROM ALL AIRPORT PLAYERS PARENTS & FANS.

And u thought my defense was bad

GO GREEN!!
Huron will bounce back if they can make it click and play together as a team again. The best thing about these boys is there has never been a superstar on the team they just play well together as a team they just need to get back to playing as a team
Big Red Grandpa, Huron Dad agrees!! And speaking of life lessons losses teach more than wins! That is a FACT.
For the second time in my life I am rooting for Jefferson to win at something…
The only other time was last March when Nick Humphrey won a state title at the Palace.
I'm hearing that a certain program has some kids coming in next year that will help them "fly" to a Huron League Championship. I'm not talking about a bird either…
Just watched about half a dozen Jim Mora clips from that google search. Great stuff Blackbeard, thanks!
You think that's a witch hunt against Hurons coach? Please….
Signed,
Coach Baas
Blackbeard has had too much ale yet again. Arrrrrrrgh
Mason QB?? Please tell us more how he puts up stats but the team loses by 50 every game.
Don't shoot the messenger. I only had 8 English teachers. Google "Jim Mora you don't know"
I am one of those grandstand qb'sHuron is so
Predictive they hardly ever run outside the tackles twice last night hardly ever run a short swing pass behind 14/ 0 in second half get kickoff drive down the field across the fifty have third & 2 run a dive straight ahead & lose 2 yds. There is no imagination in their offense very predictable other teams know that. Have seen every game this year & every year
Blackbeard: that quote just had way too many “knows” in it, ya know what I mean?
-Blackbeard’s 9th English teacher
I see there has been some great advise for the coaching staff after a tough loss from a small sample of Huron parents and most of the AP fan base. Coach Mora called me and wanted me to share with you his thoughts. Since I cant post the link, I will just leave the transcript: "You guys just really don't know when it's good or bad when it comes right down to it. And I'm promising you right now, you just don't know when it's good or bad. You really don't know, because you don't know what we're trying to do, you guys don't look at the films, you don't know what happened, you really don't know. You think you know, but you don't know, and you… never… will, okay?" oh, he goes on from there about when you think it's good, it might be bad so on and so forth. Should have heard what he said when I asked him about the playoffs.
Just another typical evening in the Huron League. This has been a great year for watching football in our area. I think there is no such thing as a sure win in the Huron League. I have been only around the league since the fall of 2010, and this has been far and away the most fun I have had sitting in the stands watching football in a long time. I think the one thing that gets forgotten is that these boys are learning life lessons and no one is perfect and you learn from your mistakes. I am pretty sure the men leading all these programs are doing their best teaching our kids/grandkids how to play the game. It's easy to sit in the stands and criticize these men, but remember they are sacrificing a lot of time away from their families to teach these young men the game of football, which in turn will make them better people in society. The only thing that should really make you upset on Friday, is that in the nature of this game people are going to get hurt. If your kid/grandkid gets hurt, then you have the right to be upset. Be supportive of your player and his team and let them learn life's lesson. Sorry I got off on a little tangent but to see parents rip on the leaders of these fine football programs has got to stop. Finding quality men who will commit as much time as they do to our boys is amazing. Don't abuse them. Thank them!
Mason QB?? Holy smokes!
Hats off to the Ida Bluestreaks and their coaching staff, Jeff Potter and Chris Leonard. What an outstanding game against Hudson. The team came together last night like they never have before. The defense was strong and the offense did a great job. Hudson has always been a powerhouse and one of the teams to beat. Last year Ida lost to them by 1, it was a painful loss. It was sweet to see the Bluestreaks shut them out.
I believe the Chiefs made it to the state semi game 2, maybe 3 years ago. These seniors have been playing together and have had winning seasons since 8th grade. The talent is there, just not being used correctly. The Chiefs have been skimming by with their wins. Coach seems to be pretty good, just not using his tools and talents as he should. Just a fan with an opinion…..
1 offensive TD for AP in last two weeks. Couple that w a defense giving up 35 points a game and 400-500 yards = 3-6 record
I don't understand why Huron wants to blame the coach, unless they're just in denial that Riverview is better then them. Huron didn't get outcoached, they got outplayed.
10:54 I'm sick of people like you that come on here and cry foul when someone criticizes a coach. They are the leader of there respective teams and the buck stops with them. It's nothing personal against the individual , it's about football. And coach Spiess is 5-2 so far in his first season which is good. But nothing wrong with pointing out things such as predictable play calling and other things mentioned. This is about completion unless we are going to start handing out participation trophys to everyone. Go CHIEFS.
Milan came to the island 🌴 conquered the mighty Red Devils and left victorious!!!! Go Big Reds and also Go Blue!!!!!
GO BLUE
Remember people, It's only a few fans from each side that write this stuff. I would say 95% of fans support the coaches.
Huron fans need to stop the witch hunt on the coach.
Few years ago the Chiefs couldn’t win a game and were chased by running clocks week after week.
Now they have a winning record in upper part of the league and want to hang the coach?
Different team, same Huron fans as always. Just stop it.
Same thing at SMCC. Coach has done a great job with limited talent and the Monroe elite still crucifie him in church every Sunday.
Monroe elite, just stop it. Kipf has done more with very little than any one else could.
To Airport fans, your team is only 3 plays away fro being 0-7 right now and possibly 0-9 for the season. Don’t get too full of yourself Coach, you are not coach of the year just yet.
Dundee has to feel cursed right now. So many gut wrenching losses. Their left running back was a stud last night, it was awful to see him fumble on the goal line with hardly any time left. I hope the Dundee boys and staff keep their heads up and finish the year strong. Hang in there Mac!
