As we stand right now, these are the probable playoff openers. Of course, things could change next week.
Division 2
Bedford @ Livonia Churchill
Division 3
Huron @ Carlson
Romulus @ Riverview
Division 4
Flat Rock @ River Rouge
Milan @ Tecumseh
Division 5
Ida @Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard
Division 7
Delta Prep @ SMCC
I’ve done playoff point projections, and I can all but guarantee SMCC gets in with 5 wins. Milan I think sneaks in by the skin of their teeth with 5, and Huron will sneak in by an even thinner margin with 5 wins (last team in in D3). Monroe will not get in with 5 wins, unless a lot of luck goes their way. I have Monroe’s total at 59.538. The lowest point total in D1 last year was 59.778.
Kendrick
Roosevelt played without their best player Friday ,Kendrink Stanley
Hate to criticize guys, but could you do a live recap of all the games on Friday right afterwards. I have to work on Saturdays, and Sundays won’t work either. Oh, and if you could, have it in before midnight cuz I start thinking about college football. Again, I really hate to criticize cuz you do put in a lot of work.
@9:33
You still have to have the kids that can make plays.
In my opinion both Trenton and AP have a good shot to get in with week 9 wins. I looked things over and every team in the DRL that was 5-4 had gotten in prior to this year. So that's a good sign.
As far as how that would shake up the districts. It probably would shake things up.
Right now there are quite a few teams at 5-3 and 4-4 in D3. The 4-4 teams aren't shown in any playoff projections currently. Assuming half of the 5-3 and 4-4 teams will win and thus half will lose. The playoff map will look somewhat different after Friday.
One can assume it would be hard to keep Trenton, AP(Allen Park), Carlson and Riverview out of the same district. It all depends on how the map looks after week 9. Where would Romulus and Huron go? If Trenton and AP make it in… that would mean 2 teams that are in the current projections would have to go. Which changes the map.
For those who do not know. Records don't play in to how districts are selected. It is all by proximity and ease of travel(major highways). So it is possible to have the 2 best teams in the division in the same district. This has happened quite a few times.
keep an out for Snooze's week 8.5(if favorites win) map. Probably will be up sometime Wednesday. Here is the site. http://www.snooze2you.com
What that map will tell you is if all the favorites win on Friday, what the map will look like and who is in. Of course some upsets will happen but it will give us a better picture regarding Trenton and Allen Park and how they might affect the teams we cover.
I know this has nothing to do with area football, but after watching Lions game Sunday, I remember why I like high school football so much more.
Just pitiful!
Hate to criticize Chris and Gary when they are putting so much effort into the blog. You should have the wrap up show on Saturday after the games. By Tuesday or Wednesday of the next week, I'm on to the next matchups. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!!
ANYBODY BUT ROUGE!!!!! Their line is HUGE!
Airport went for and recovered an onside kick. Milan went for it (unsuccessfully) on 4th down from their own 10 yard line! For whatever the reason, both coaches clearly felt like their best chance to win was to keep their offense on the field for as long as possible.
Best of luck to the Jets in Week 9. Build on what you gave in Week 8.
@1202 it's about 2 kick returns that won them that game. AP had them stopped in the 2nd half.
I hope for FR they get someone other than Rouge…
@12:02
Its all about talent and conditioning, not team size.
19 kids dressed and beat 40 kids from airport. Can't even believe the heart fro these Milan kids. Super impressed
Milan Fan
Flat Rock is the 8th team from the bottom in D-4 dummy….. If they get Rouge…… It will be very very bad……. Pray for them lol
Good question. Give me some time. I'm not sure either would be in at 5-4. Give me some time.
Divison 3
Gary- Trenton and Allen Park will be 5-4
if so that could put theses teams in close geographic proximity
Romulus-New Boston, Huron, Trenton, Allen Park, Riverview, and Carlson
so how would that play out ?
Filming now at larsons. Having some technical difficulties. Chris' phone is a POS!
My predictions were pretty close to Snooze.
Snooze2you is updated now (week 8)
Would love to see a potential Riverview/Carlson district final. I think the winner of that could get to the semifinals at least. No OLSM to worry about this year but FH Harrison could be waiting for the winner in the regional finals. EM
Is Milan in no matter what.
Flat Rock will be division 5 and host Ida.
Who does Monroe play?
The most underrated component of Riverview's team is the o line
Flat Rock child definitely could pulled north along I-75 and Milan northwest.
Williamston could end up in that district. If that's the case they would be the 4th seed and Milan the 3rd.
I think win or lose, Milan will be headed to Chelsea as the #4 seed. Unless Tecumseh loses to Airport…which could happen if the Jets play like they did on Friday.
It all depends on who is in the district. If Hudson is in the district SMCC would be a 2 seed. However. PNDP is a heck of a team. Beating them would take a whale of an effort. In Pontiac at that. Homer city.
I think if Smcc wins Friday night they possibly can be the 1 seed?
