It doesn’t matter if you never lead during the game as long as you lead at the end.

The Jets are improved, no question about that.

That Bedford/Saline game was a lot closer than the score indicated.

Carlson probably could have scored 100.

Back to back wins for Dundee over Hillsdale.

Trust the process Eagles!

Can Flat Rock rebound?

Islanders pick up a much needed win.

I still can’t believe what I just saw.

Is Ida preparing for another run?

Sometimes you just get it right.

Can anyone disagree that Milan’s Jesse Hoskins is the best coach in the league?

Don’t look now, but Monroe is 2-1.

Riverview with a huge bounce back win.

Where are the Falcons that handled Pewamo-Westphalia?

To go for two or not go for two, that is the question.

Coaches coach, players play and parents/grandparents spectate. Any questions?

Big shout out to Dundee’s Frank Vajcner, we need to get you on our show!

Spartans or Broncos?

Forward down the field!

  1. All I can say is get ahold of me and I'll show you over on Jackson rd. in Ann Arbor called Honigs Whistle stop and buy the equipment to Refferee then join the MHSSA and lets see if you can do a better job!!

  2. Do you think those kids were great because of Hoskins?? Wherever Hoskins would go you'd have great players there too! He is a really good coach!!

  3. Not sure what you are writing here. Please write in coherent sentences. Do I think Bodner is a great coach? Yes I do. They aren't a bad team this season. They have lost to a pretty good Almont team and lost to an improved Airport team. They don't have the horses they had last year, but they are competing. You still need good talent to win. GI has some, but just not as much as the past few years.

  4. Bodner? The blog loves the guy including truly Schultz you making excuses for him he should be 3-0 he's great coach when are you gonna recognize you need to have players to win is Bodner all of sudden bad coach? No he just doesn't have the boys like he's had in past few years he's same guy with different talent but we go on here and oh he's great coach oh he's terrible coach simple formula players =wins non players= compete/effort/short stick

  5. I agree about adding whiteford and summerfield. They are only 5 to 10 minutes south of Dundee on 23. Another vote to get them in and have all Monroe county represented!

  6. It is a good win for CC but not great compared to how it could be seen the past couple years. When saying they are down, I am not trying to make it from a division 7 standpoint but to a 3-4 standpoint and being a team that would be capable of winning the Huron League without a doubt. If CC was in their conference, they wouldn't lose a game either.

  7. Actually, you're probably simplifying it a little bit. The win over Pewamo Westfallia is a good win anyway you slice it. They were picked by many to win division seven again. What I can't figure out is why SMCC has played the last game and a half like they haven't got a clue The first game and a half they look like world beaters. I simply can't figure it out I don't think Gary has an answer either.

  8. And both of those schools should probably be playing 8 man football with a combined enrollment of 549. You are reaching a little there

  9. Well when they have 7-9 guys in the box they are bound to get some TFL but also bound to give up big plays it's part of the risk reward

  10. After reading this about Summerfield and Whiteford being too far away…Gary could handle it easily…and then the south end would be complete. Whiteford has been having some nice teams. Seems like some exciting football there too. Much better than either of those perennial losers from Taylor or the Railsplitters. I agree with that Anonymous Cat. And he is right…you both do good. Aye!!

  11. Here's the thing that a lot of the league isn't taking into consideration about Airport. Most of the lineman have been 3 year starters now on Varsity. Now they're seniors. They're big and strong and they won the battle in the trenches last night. Hopefully these young men learn from last night and continue to grow.

  12. Great job guys. Just think how much better this would be if you included Whiteford and Summerfield. Say what? They are too far away?? We could all say that about Milan and Bedford too. Lets go you two, make it complete!!!

  13. Perhaps, for all the reason's and issues posted above, Milan has gone to having 7 officials at their home games. Also, there is no question that Milan has had some good players over the years, as have all the schools in the Huron league, but the Milan coaching staff gets ALOT of their players. Who is the best coach in the Huron League is subjective based on your loyalty. Huron has a large amount of talent and play hard……so do they have a great coach? The coach at Flat Rock has done an amazing job with those kids and deserve all the recognition that are getting….good coach or tough kids that are buying in? Airport…..same?

From what I have seen across the league this year….you better come ready to play every Friday night as every team is more than capable of beating you.

  14. Putting the officiating behind us. I am a Huron fan and want to say that Airport was bigger and faster than most people think. Airports offensive line man handled the Huron line. Their THREE running backs are going to be tough to stop for any team this year.

  15. #1or 12 Uncle depending on the week.

Chris as I stated in the beginning of my post the officials have a tough job and I'm not hating on anyone. Just pointing out what I'm seeing week in week out over the last couple years. As far as the clock comment whatever you say , I stand by my statement.

  16. There was a play when Dyl had a nice run for around 20-30 yards late in the game where the clock did not start at all which is crucial in those games. The officials were arguing on the field from time to time and were confused a lot. Sideline warnings against Huron didnt make much sense either, and they did not call a lot of late hits. Officials just warned players to not do it again every time. Jeska got injured on airports last drive because of a late hit that was not called. Then called a late hit on airport the next drive. And they called a missed field goal good which made no sense. They just weren't consistent.

  17. Milan-Huron game will be a good one. Still a lot of great games looming ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a 2 loss 3 way tie for HLC this year.

  18. And the lone referee that was back for that field goal attempt was the referee that was calling the sideline inference penalty against Huron. He obviously couldn't see from his point of view. Maybe it was a coincidence maybe not.

  19. I know I'll probably get some hate for this but all I'm saying is it's awfully tough not to look like a great coach when you have the best talent in the league. Player after player. Kanitz, Grey, Lidenman, Barnes, Furtney, Hines…I'd like to see what Hoskins would do if he were dealt John Bodner's hand.

  20. Agree on the officials being some of the worst I've seen. In addition to your comments, it's absurd to call 2 sideline warnings/ penalties when the ball is within the area where the kids or coaches can't pass (I think it's the 30). That penalty on Huron greatly aided the FG at half and I'm not sure who they were warning on the Airport sidelines (the fans?). And it could have been game changing on the extra point that the officials signaled offsides on AP which resulted in Huron lining up for 2 PT conversion only to see the ball on the 7 instead of the 1.5 yd line. I guess they motioned the wrong way and the line judge didn't seem to communicate the error to the Huron sideline. Judgement calls are one thing, what I saw was incompetence.

  21. #1or#12 Uncle depending on the week

The officials have a very tough job and if they get some calls wrong so be it. What annoys me is the confusion after the penalty to many times they never know where to spot ball or even what down it should be. In 3 games this year I've seen illegal man downfield called 5 times and only twice have they correctly inforced loss of down along with penalty. Last night at Airport Huron game they repeatedly didn't catch clock running after blowing play dead and only one time caught it because we were yelling at press box to make them aware on field. They are not at the switches but surely should be monitoring. They added 18 seconds back on the clock after 2 minute conference. That 18 seconds could easily of cost Huron the game. And completely blew FG call before half time. My nephew was in end zone and told me it was easily a few feet wide. Only one official back by the goal post??? Where was the other one?? All I'm saying is I think the officiating needs to tighten up. They should never decide a game due to incompetence. Rant over

  22. It does look genius whether they meant to or not. I think they were being overly aggressive at trying to block the PAT and it just so happened to work out in Huron's favor. Would've been a big win for Airport. They should be fine though. No reason to hang heads-just have to learn to keep going full throttle and don't let the other team hang around.

  23. Dundee is still above average but it would be great to see Frank the Tank to Friday Night Victors!

A few surprises last night…Ida, Riverview, and Bedford losing

    What happened Flat Rock?

Will Airport fans finally come back to earth and just focus on the kids GREAT effort and what they are doing right now instead of all the great things they are going to do?

    Flat Rock see above

Milan and Huron is going to be a great game if the younger Spiess is healthy.

The officials at Huron-Airport last night were some of the worst I have ever seen in my 20 years of watching high school football. I felt bad for both teams having to play with those clowns running things. Is it true that one official told a Huron player to shut up?

Good to see Monroe on a winning streak!

  24. Has anybody else thought that Huron was jumping offsides on purpose to bait Airport to go for 2 instead of getting the almost automatic 1 point that would've put Airport up by 3 scores at that point?? Maybe Speiss is just that much smarter than everyone else on the field.

  25. It's not a question flat rock WILL bounce back! That was a tough game against a team that are no knockoffs flat rock played great.
