FNV Thoughts and Questions

Best program in our coverage area? Bedford? Carlson? Monroe? Other?

Looks like Airport is in the submarine.

Mules headed on the downturn?

Four and five loss seasons should not be the norm at Carlson.

Playoffs in Cabelasville?

Erie Mason has talent, but do they have the much needed senior leadership necessary to win?

Starting a new high school program, who do you hire? Giarmo? Bodner? Hoskins? Wood?

It’s been a decade since they had one of these in Level Pebble.

Grosse Ile opener against a very good Almont program will most likely determine the course of the season.

Ohio flavor at Huron will get their first taste of Michigan football.

Ida has won a combined 8 straight against rivals Dundee and Erie Mason.

Jefferson graduated some great seniors, but return 19 letterman.

Nothing changes this year, I won’t be picking against the Big Reds.

Yawn, will the sleeping giant ever awaken?

Riverview, when healthy, may have the most talent in the Huron League.

Don’t look now, but SMCC is facing the prospect of back to back losing seasons for the first time in 20 years.

Fastest player in the coverage area? My guess is Carlson’s Ian Stewart.

Apparently complaining helps, today on my morning run, I noticed Huron was putting in new visitor bleachers.

  1. I don't know if SMCC will contend for a league crown ? Way to early to tell , Wyatt Obrien is out for the year and for sure one of the best players in the league . That hurts big time!!!! Big time!!!! People have to step up !!! No excuses…I think league will be balanced, I just don't see anyone running away with it right now ? Too early, getting close to the start of the season, I wish everyone good luck and health… Is there a sleeper ?

  2. Crazy as usual Chris. Milan and SMCC win this thing. Huron fails again. Riverview underachieves. Flat Rock is Flat Rock. Airport is back to pre Redmond era yet again.

  3. SMCC will have success if line blocks … just like any other team ..definitely have some kids that can run the ball…gotta win the home opener.. Huron league is gonna have some pretty tough teams this year…can't wait to see how it all plays out … I'll be watching…

  4. No way Riverview or Airport compete for a title this year. The league is going to be much better than last year. FR, Huron, SMCC all better than last year. No way SMCC doesn't make the playoffs. Huron is getting new bleachers, dropped several thousands of dollars on upgrading the weightroom, and also have 100+ signed up for football… I would say Ohio flavor is in full effect over in Chief country.

  5. Bedford is best program you cover right now. With the right coaches in place, the Monroe Trojans could that program!

I kind of miss hearing about how Airport will make the playoffs after going 1-8.

I don't see Bedford heading on a downturn anytime soon.

The norm will change at Carlson thanks to Coach Giarmo

Does anyone even care about football in Dundee?

Does anyone even care about sports in Erie?

Starting a new program would require a long term effort. Hoskins, Mensing, or even Mack

Flat Rock sneaks into the playoffs at 5-4 unless they lose week 1.

I don't see Almont – Grosse Ile being a close game. Almont wins by alot.

That Ohio Flavor brought some good players to New Boston

I see Ida winning 9 straight against both of their rivals unless Dundee somehow puts together a winning team.

I see Jefferson and Milan still towards the top of the league with Riverview not fair behind them. This is a make or break year for the staff at the 'View

SMCC could have another losing season. Their schedule doesn't help them and the league is improving. The Catholics are still living in the shadow of Coach Giarmo

Carlson or Monroe has to have the fastest kids in the coverage area.

Does that mean football in Huron is a priority now ????

Calpreps will have thinks SMCC beats all 3 the state title year.

  8. Bedford.

    Can't agree more.

    Slightly but not much.

Can't see Carlson losing more than 3 at most.

    Absolutely!

    Not a chance.

    Giarmo.

Thanks for reminding me it's been 10 years.

It will be a rough season.

Michigan will get a taste of Ohio ball as well.

    Rivalry wins always count.

Lost the heart and soul of the team.

I do not blame you on that pick.

    ZzZzZz.

    I can't see that.

    I can see that happening.

SMCC's Caden Smith, also a new chief in town can fly.

  9. We're not just talking about the Huron league anymore. SMCC at this point wouldn't beat Bedford, Monroe or Carlson. They may not have beaten any of them when they won the state title a few years back.

  10. I heard Smcc is loaded with speed? Rumor has it they have 3 kids running in the low 4.6s high 4.5s is there any truth to this.. that's fast…

  11. Best Program bar none Smcc not even close.. they have more then half the league titles..2 state championships and 20 playoff appearances ..

  12. My sleeper teams are FR and Airport.
FR.. has everyone back and may have the most talent in the league next to Riverview and Huron
Airport..if the Jets can play defense, I don't see anyone stopping them. They have a very athletic QB returning along with all of their RBs and 3 year stud, Mike Foor..

  13. Bedford

    Sounds like a good idea

Bedford will be as good as usual

Carlson will only lose a game or two this year

I know nothing of Dundee but why not

I know nothing of Erie Mason but I agree

    Giarmo

I'll believe it when I see it

Thats a loss for Fantasy Island

    Doesn't matter, its Huron

Most everyone has won eight straight over those two schools

    Bears go 2-7 at best

Of course you won't, you love Milan

Monroe is not good, but still better than anyone in the huron league

When was the last time Riverview was relevant

No chance SMCC has a losing season

    Okay, if you say so
