It's not just Huron. It's Skyline, AA Pioneer, and I believe even Richard is below 500.
Ann Arbor, IMO, is still trying to recover from the split to three large public high schools. Skyline has never had a stable coaching staff, and Huron has yet to find their replacement for Paul Verska since he left to coach Warren De La Salle in 2002. (A2 Huron would have a 6-4 season in 2002, their first without Verska, and their 5-4 finish in 2009 was their only +.500 season in the post-Verska era.) Ann Arbor Pioneer has tried to corner the market on the football talent in the city, but they have had shaky seasons recently and are in the midst of their own craptastic 2-6 season, despite having some D1 players and being the biggest school in their conference. Don't get me wrong, Saline has been a factor. A lot of the problem at Huron is lack of stability. There is no culture there. There are more band parents in the stands than football parents. They have a coach now, with the proper support I feel can get things turned around if given enough time.
If they're wearing the River Rouge uniform, they are from River Rouge. Not sure why one would think otherwise in the playoffs.
Ann Arbor schools are lacking talent because Saline schools and their multi-million dollar program are taking every school of choice student they can. Including the most talented athletes in the area. Saline Football and Baseball are becoming state powers every year.
In my opinion, there are way too many teams in the playoffs. If you are 5-4 that is pretty close to an average team and you don't deserve to be in. Football is a rough enough sport, deserving teams should'nt have to play those extra games. Hell, it's like the NHL, just let everyone in.
It's simply a math problem. Unless you want to give out byes, the next cutoff is 128 teams which would leave (arguably) a bunch of deserving teams at home. Not to mention scheduling issues (for the finals) if it is uncertain as to how many teams are going to be in the playoffs. I'd rather have this methodology instead of the old system where many 9-0 and 8-1 teams didn't qualify based solely on the schedule they played and the points that were earned. The cream always rises to the top so play the games!

Goodwin heights and Whitehall are in with less it's then Jefferson. Jefferson is a lock unless some crazy stuff happens. Milan and GI should be very happy that Rouge is left out of their district.
And Jefferson will have 52 playoff points as well lol
That was a rough guesstimate. After doing the numbers I put them at 49. Which is pretty darn close.
Rouge is very good. But remember that at least 25% of those kids are not from Rouge. Especially there D-1 QB from Robichaud
Looking into it a little further. There are 4 Class B teams projected to make it in with less PP than Jefferson.
They are taking approximately 12 class A teams at 5-4, 10 class B, 10 class C and 4 class D. Those with 38 will be the smaller schools.
Those with 38 playoff points are lower divisions. Don't let that fool you. That said, they should still get in.
DCD is extremely good. Beat a good U of D Jesuit team last week. They have awesome talent, just poorly coached. 5-6 D-1 kids on that team with the QB going to Duke to play baseball and Demons has multiple Big ten offers including Michigan. Jefferson is 100% in if they win. The number of 5-4 teams getting in this year is ridiculous. Snooze has teams with 38 playoff points getting in. Jefferson will have 48.7. I thought they would be one of the last 3-4 teams in, but I was wrong. There will be at least 10 teams with lower points then Jefferson getting in. Good luck to all the Huron League teams this week.

I figured you would pick Huron to lose to summit since flat rock beat Huron. The rams were only a 1 point favorite over summit weren't they?
Granted, Rouge getting bumped north was expected if Jefferson made the field. DCD getting (potentially) bumped out of Rouge's district makes for a tougher road for whomever emerges from the D4 HL + Adrian District. I've been holding out hope that Rouge and DCD would land in the same district.
Shouldn't matter, though. Once you get out of your district, anyone you face should be a tough matchup.
I don't think DCD is that good this year. They really have not played anyone worthy. Rouge on the other hand, they are really good. Which ever Huron team plays them, hopefully us, needs to play their A game and hope Rouge has a very off night. I still think there will be a shake up in the districts, possible region. But your going to have to play them anyways, so might as well get it over with.
They play Bedford tomorrow. We will find out if they are any good or not.
Yes I know. Bedford is good. We scrimmaged them this year. Yes it was early but we held our own. Snooze has the Miles winning.

FWIW, Snooze's "Week 8, Favorites Win" Mapetology is out. They have Jefferson in and facing Milan in Week 10. Rouge is bumped north into a pretty easy District, as County Day is also bumped north into another District, where they should also cruise. Barring some surprises this weekend, the D4 playoffs are shaping up to be a gauntlet for our HL teams.
That said, to be the best you've gotta beat the best, right?
I would not get over confident Bears. That's how upsets happen. Long ride up to Owosso, JV playing before Varsity. Will be a long day. Stay sharp Bears.

Maybe if folks are only predicting a 14 point win, it could mean that Jefferson chose to get their starters off the field once the game was wrapped up. Saving your studs for the playoffs is a good thing and something that I hope my team also gets to do in the 4th quarter of their game on Friday.

This is a game where a lot of young and inexperienced players will get a shot to experience the Friday Night Lights. It will not be the end of the world if they make some mistakes and give up some points.
