  1. D1 12 scolarships available 40 man roster. D2 10 scolarshps available 40 man roster. Not a a lot of scholarship money available for lacrosse. But everyone says they have a full ride. Lol

  2. I would agree with the cost factor in soccer. Many club teams up north of our area charge $1500-$2000 to play. That is crazy in my opinion. My son has been on many AAU basketball and travel baseball teams for under a $1000.

Coaches seem to be out to make money at it. No way it costs that much. We are fortunate to have very cost effective extra curricular sports in Monroe County and Southern Wayne. People are coaching for the love of the sport, not to put a couple $1000 in their pockets.

  3. I love soccer. Great sport! I don't think they do it right in the USA though. Unfortunately here in the USA it seems to be a rich kid sport. Nothing wrong with that, but you must pay big money to be part of a good club. That eliminates 90% of the population from choosing a sport that basically requires a ball. Look at the MHSAA state champions every year. Teams loaded with club players. One of the best things that happened was in 2012 when Hamtramck Frontier Academy won the the Division 4 State Title. They did it with mostly immigrant kids from all over the world, particularly the middle east, whose first language wasn't English.

As for watching, I follow the Bundesliga and of course my favorite team is Bayern Munchen. Try giving them a watch sometime. Wonderful soccer. They are part of the UEFA Champions League as well.

    1. Lacrosse is where it's at. Fun, fast, and physical. One of the fastest growing sports in the country. Many colleges have a lot of scholarship money for lacrosse. Both men's and women's teams. My son picked it up on a whim and played 3 seasons. We learned it on the fly and we now absolutely LOVE the game.

  4. Soccer is for the kids who didn't make the football team. LOL. Just kidding.

Chris's sister tried to start a Huron League soccer blog, but there was only 2 bloggers, her and Chris.

All kidding aside, soccer is a great sport when there are no other sports going on and the power is out.

  5. With all the trash talk that goes on thru out the year with all the teams, I still hope all the league teams win this week. I'm just as guilty as any one, but win or lose come play off time, I will cheer for all the league teams, u less they play us, then you got to lose.

  6. Speaking of flat rock chris. What's going on there? They fired a junior high coach? Cops called? Bullying? Harrassment? I'm glad they are in the rise but this could be a black eye to the program and culture and force kids to leave.

  7. Chris,

Flat Rock parent here… don't listen to that non-sense. Happy to have you come out to Flat Rock. I'm guessing that is one person stirring the pot, not representative of us all!

  8. Wow, I was asked earlier to come to the FR game. It was also suggested by someone in FR that I sit by my fire pit and have a beer. Now, I am flat out being told to STAY HOME. All because I didn't pick them to win by enough against Hazel Park. SMH

    1. Chris it's probably the same parent that stands on the fence line and motherF all the coaches during and after the game. You can come the Ramsey are also celebrating the 1976 State Champion Team

  9. I could see Hoskins at Milan moving up to the college level at some point. The guys a genius! He played QB at Hillsdale college, so I could see him as a QB coach, maybe in the MAC. He doesn't have to worry about the T in college(ha ha). I wish outsiders could see how thorough he is leading up to Game day. The amount of scouting and homework is unbelievable. Every minute of every day is pre planned, all the way up to the singing of the national anthem on game day. I'd hate to lose him at Milan, but he's a rising star.

  10. Jesus, you know it was a bad season when the Catholic's start talking about soccer and softball on the blog.

    Milan Fan

    1. As a SMCC fan, I think your comment is HILARIOUS!! How embarrassing. I, for one wouldn't have lowered myself by even mentioning soccer. Yes, I am a soccer HATER. And yes, I will continue to be so.

  11. Never ends does it. Soccer is not a sport on here. This is a football blog.
    Who cares.

Softball is all about 1 player, If your happy with that. That's fine.

  12. Sorry 8:28, but that late Jefferson TD was top 5 in the country on HUDL that week.
Don't think it was garbage. It appears you work midnight shift, maybe you should quit sipping on Grandpa's cough medicine at work. LOL.

  13. I agree with you Chris which team will show up for the Rams. Yes they have played teams tough but couldn't finish those games. You have to finish those games to get out of the celler. I'm glad they are changing things around but they are not over the hump just yet. With that said they should blow HP out but what team will show

  14. Or the time you predicted them to win by 1 against summit and they blew em out by 50+…. hazel park is atrocious and if they are within 17 points of flat rock then I'd consider it a loss for the rams.

Jefferson score didn't show how close that game was. Jefferson scored some garbage TDs late. CC game was close for 3 quarters, I mean just about every game they have been competitive.

    1. Dang dude, you sound like me when I got all redneck with Gary for picking SMCC over Milan. I had to eat crow on that one. Be happy he , Chris, thinks your going to win. I made an ass of myself and learned the hard way, he picked right, we lost. You might want to just take it with a grain of salt and let the bears worry about the points. Just saying.

  15. Picking them to win isn't enough? I could do the easy thing and just pick winners. I try to predict scores. Do I miss? Yes! Sometimes am I spot on? Yes! I didn't see you complain when I picked FR to beat Riverview by 1 and then lost by 3 TD's. The fact is, I am not sure which team will show up. Will it be the team that beat Huron and Airport or the team that was beaten by at least 3 scores or more in the 5 losses they have? A win is a win. Forget what I predict on the scores. That is just for fun.

By the way, who post at 3:32 am? 😉
