  1. Some people seem kind of upset that Milan is still in the playoffs….I for one have never said anything bad about other schools!!! Congrats on a good season for GI and Jefferson !!! If Milan would have lost , I would definitely be rooting for Jefferson !!! Why? Because they are a HL team!!! Good luck to everyone next year!! And let's Go Big Reds 🙂

  2. I don't care what you think either. You are co-champs with the Red Devils. So don't say that "YOU" are the champs. You know you won't win a state title this year so your lose is coming.

  3. For those that were at the Milan/Jefferson game; Barnes for Milan going airborne from the 5 yard line for the TD, was the best individual play I've seen in a game. Should be in the top 5 on Hudl this week. That kid is such an athlete!

  4. Hey "uncle of 38", I told you to check back Friday around 9:30 and not to chicken out. I took a little time to try to decide how to approach this. I could be classy and say great game and good luck to #38. I good be an ass and bust you up! I've decided to just chalk up your trash talk as an uncle being proud of his nephew. Good luck to you and #38!

  5. Hats off to the Huron boys, could've been easy for them to fall apart after Kalby left, but they stuck it out. Interested in seeing how this years team would've did with him as their HC. -Huron Alum

  6. To #9 Dad, thanks for the GI props. As is the case for most players' fathers, the end of seasons are as hard on dads as they are on players. Also, congrats on the MLive article on your son this past week, very nice.

I'm sure your coach will have your offense ready for Adrian's defensive front, which played better than anyone we faced all year without question. Equally as good was their offensive front– we couldn't get any pressure on their QB, but we didn't blitz a backer much last night.

And finally, to all the emotional parents (and some players being brats) on social media– football is a great way to learn physical and mental lessons in preparation for adulthood. Most of our Huron League players are not going to play this game for money. Rather, they will be using the discipline and examples they've learned to perform in real life situations, such as a military or law enforcement officer, teacher, engineer, civil servant, etc., but most importantly a future father. Football is an amazing game, but it is just that– a game. Our young men have a tough world to walk into, and I think most of us dads still can look back and remember how high school football shaped our lives one way or another. God bless our families and best of luck to Milan players to a safe and solid victory next Friday!

    1. Thanks, it does not bother me at all. I know who I am and I won't lose any sleep over someone's statement. And your right, it is just as hard on parents when the season ends. I have never bashed a kid, parents are different. Parents are usually worse than kids.

  7. I am very proud of our Red Devils team. The heart and soul of these young men are second to none. Say what you will, but until you know these guys on a personal level, you really have nothing to say.
And as for #9 Dad, you, my friend, are a d-bag attempting to wrap yourself up in a classy package. You can't in one post, bag on GI saying you are the true champs, then tell them to pat themselves on the back. You went from a blog poster who seemed to be a classy dad to someone who takes every opportunity to back door bash other teams. After 4 years, I am no longer a parent of a GI player, but I am guessing I am not the only parent who is glad you are done as well. I am also guessing, however, that you will be back posting next year, putting your 2 cents worth, trying to relive your glory days through other parents' kids. Our true colors always come out when the pressure is on or in tough situations. You have shown your true colors, in spades.
Great job Milan, and thanks to the entire Huron League players for a great season. Years from now, it won't be about the losses, or even the wins, it'll be about the funny stories, the friends you have made, and the men you have become because of the game. It was a great ride, and again, thank you.

    1. The reason #9 dad is saucy towards GI, is probably because some GI fans have ragged all year on Milan. I've heard everything from killing the rabbits, to Saline Turf advantage, to stopping the T, to stop whinning about the refs, to being only 1 dimensional ( how about the game winning catch Friday). When guys talk junk on here, only recourse is to fire back.

  8. Congrats to all of the league teams that made the playoffs and fought hard. It is embarrassing to say the least when airport fans/players or whoever make ridiculous comments on here about other teams. It would be nice to think that they are in the minority when it comes to jet supporters. I'm not so sure at times. Good luck to Milan next week!

  9. Jefferson/Milan was a great high school game, both teams played well, Jefferson just left too much time on the clock and Milan executed! Nice too see Jefferson back on the map, goodluck Milan!

  10. I find it absolutely amazing the comments AGAINST fellow league members….cheering that GI and Huron lost their pre-district games seems petty. Why do people have to tear others down in an attempt to make themselves feel better about themselves or their situation. Come on people – grow up….this is high school football played by high school kids. Very few pro players on any of these teams.

Secondly – a HUGE hats off to the folks from Jefferson and Milan. That was a great high school football game with both teams, coaches and fans demonstrating great sportsmanship and appreciation. In my opinion, Jefferson beat Milan in nearly every aspect of that game EXCEPT the final score. Coach Pickens and his staff have done an exceptional job. A fantastic catch after the tip for the game winner….amazing.

It was nice to see kids from Airport, Flat Rock, SMCC all in attendance…..supporting their Huron League mates. Hopefully you all will come back and support the Big Reds as they take on Adrian. This should be another tough game. Best of Luck Milan…..great year to EVERYONE!!

    1. I completely disagree that the Bears beat Milan in every aspect of the game except the score. It's funny you talk about people talking about other teams and cheering that they lost, however your comment just took away the hard work and effort that Milan put in to WIN. Both teams played hard and played great but the better team won. No one gives Milan credit when it is due. The boys fought and showed what they are made of the last minute of the game! Give credit where credit is due those boys EARNED that win.

    2. Thank you for posting this, all day I've been thinking the same thing. Last night's game was certainly a wonderful display of Sportmanship and respect for your rivals. To all you Senior Bears, it has been amazing to watch you all play these last years! Thank you for mentoring your fellow Bears! Good luck in all your future endeavors! Milan – this Bear House will be cheering you on!!

  11. Why r all milan fans hating jefferson they played awesome? Milans a great team and jefferson is too be happy your team advanced geez

  12. Nobody is talking about the GI game so I will, very well fought game by the seniors! Hey thought the passing attack of Adrian was the only real difference of these teams. Both had a big, fast front 7 which I did not expect. Volmerhausen at RB and the offensive line were good, however they could not sell the deep ball for big plays and couldn't move the ball constantly during to the passing struggle. I thought Adrian was a very extremely talented team and just was more prepared for GI defensively. Good luck to Milan against them, I expect a hard fought win for the Big Reds!

  13. Farmington Hills Harrison won the Div 3 State Championship in 1999 as a 5-4 team, although two of their loses came from forfeits for playing an ineligible player. Not sure if that counts as what you meant 10:48.

  14. 3 of the 4 downriver teams get smoked. Allen Park is good, but I don't think anyone can say that the DR league is better than the Huron League this season. Most of their teams are bigger size in division 2 or 3. Wyndotte gets smoked. Trenton gets smoked. Woodhaven gets smoked. AP has one of their best teams in 10 years and won't make it out of the regional in my opinion. Surprised GI lost at home

  15. The devil fans sure are quiet. You guys had a good season. You played a good team tonight, hold up your heads and pat yourself on the back. You did good.

  16. GI dad here –
    Adrian will beat milan.
    Adrian beat us.
We were out coached & the boys just beat us.
    No whining, no crying
    We got beat.
Adrian made plays when it counted.
Milan, you are next, Adrian is a damn good team.
    Go leafs !

  17. The Bears will be back. Much respect tonight. Hopefully a jumpstart to the football program.

Thanks for the support, many SMCC and Airport fans on the Bear sideline tonight.

    Great to see.

    BEAR PRIDE !!

  18. Humphreys played a great game and so did the whole Jefferson team. We were barely able to win!! Best high school game I've seen in a long time!!

  19. I was the guy who posted that "5-4 teams shouldn't be in the playoffs". I was wrong! Jefferson and Adrian shut me up! It's really who's playing better come playoff time, and the 5-4 teams deserve a chance to turn their season's around.

Hey Chris and Gary, just curious if any 5-4 teams have ever made it to the championship game or even won?

  20. Mad respect for Jefferson. The way they came back from a 1-3 start to make the playoffs. They were 1:25 from beating the 1 seed. Absolutely knew they would go for 2 and the win. #7 is a beast and #2 is a baller.

    -Milan Man

  21. Awesome game at Milan. Jefferson left too much time for Milan. Jefferson had an awesome (appeared to be) game winning drive, scoring a TD with l:37 left or so. Also got the 2 point conversion. Up 22-21. Most teams, that's a done deal. Milan drove down in that time to win the game. TD Pass was tipped by Humphrey, but still complete. Almost!! Great game. Most exciting High school football I have seen in awhile.

    1. Allen park Fumbled on own 15 and blew a coverage letting up a 60 yard pass out the back field leading to Hurons only 2 scores…

    2. Allen park didn't fumble because of some fluke mistake, they fumbled bc kosikowski from Huron nailed the kid, forcing the ball from his hands

  22. Jefferson came to play for sure . Hats off to them they played tough. Milan earned that win and Jefferson showed they absolutely belonged there.
And not to say I told you so Gary, but Adrian is better than everyone thinks. They just beat the Huron league Co Champs. They will be a tough game for anyone.

  23. Jefferson played a great game, congratulations to Milan for the win. It was a great game and could've went either way. Good luck to Milan in the remainder of the playoffs.

  24. Yea, lets show some class!
We are talking about high scho…blah blah blah.

Not so fun to get a loss is it!
Try 8 of them in two seasons.

Oh and btw. Next year's season has already started for us regardless of who our coach will be next year.

    – Airport Varsity Football Junior

    1. Jets fan and varsity junior you need to keep your comments to yourself!!! You continually make our team , our school and our community look bad!!! So grow up ! Get in the weight room and work hard! Because until you show them something on the field your comments are just a HATER HATING better teams! RB

  25. Milan wins an absolute classic in clutch time. One for the ages, to be sure. Milan's two minute offense cashed in at the end of each half, and their execution under pressure turned out to be the difference. Props to Jefferson for their fight tonight.

  26. That was a great game and a great game winning drive! Jefferson played a great game! 2 tough stalled drives hurt!! Keep your heads up Jefferson!!

  27. Yes let's have class tonight on here. We are talking about high school kids. Great job by all teams. There are some heart breaking loses tonight all should be proud

    1. How did that work out for you? Milan goes on!! Like I said you can follow 9 all night but 6 is just as dangerous!!

    1. You see Airport thats why teams can't hardly wait untill next year to to beat you again. You went 1-8 and your ragging on another HL team? Shouldnt you be in the weight room or practicing or something so you might keep up your great record next year as well?

  28. Jefferson has done a great job of bleeding the clock, particularly in the second quarter. They left just enough time on the clock, however, to allow Milan a chance to score their second touchdown before the half.

  29. Milan's first touchdown was a very patient and methodical drive, capped off by a 17-yard Barnes touchdown run–clearly the longest run of the drive. The drive was also aided early on by a facemask penalty on the Bears defense.
