  1. With a boat load of help from the refs. I watched the game. It was ridiculous. They really wanted Jefferson to stay in the game. Almost every big play called back. You can say that's bull, but it's the only game Milan had more than 2-3 penalties compares to the 10-12 at home aginst Jefferson. 3 Tds called back. Come on pal it's not rocket science.

  2. Jefferson and Milan are on two different levels Jefferson hasn't had a significant win yet this season. Who have they beat this season?

    1. He didn't say they were on the same level. He said that Jefferson was their toughest game, which it was. And frankly, Milan hasnt beat any teams that Jefferson lost to. So you cant really say they are THAT much better. They are 4 points better according to this season

  3. Jefferson should be a solid 3. I think they deserve that. They definitely have the possibility of winning out if they continue to play like they have. The Riverview win was nice, even if they are hurt, but giving Milan a run for their money in that game, definitely earned them some respect, even though they lost. That was the closest game Milan has had this year.

    GO BEARS !!

  4. Chris do u know why #16 for Huron played no role in the Milan game? He was a main weapon in the other games I've seen? Did t see him play hardly if at all against Milan, but was dressed. Just wondered. I though he was the best player on Hurons team from watching film

  5. Who should replace them? A huron team which lost badly and is without their best player? SMCC, who has scored 6 points in the last two games and was shut out 28-0? Teams move up, others move down. Call them, like I see them. No dog in the fight.

    1. Smcc there's not a chance Jefferson will beat smcc. Or is a better team. Huron ok qb is out week 1 without him was rough but not below Jefferson rough.

  6. Yes, they were, thank you for proving my point. The teams you mentioned were all well coached. Clearly you did not get my point, it is okay. Haters are going to hate. Looking forward to the game this week. It will be a doozie. @yomomma, good one bud, did you think of that one yourself? *clap*

  7. We will see 2:53. He is a great young man, played a lot of AAU, but no size. See what happens. Jefferson will miss him, but hey, if you want to leave all your friends, your girlfriend, know absolutely no one, drive 3 times as far to school for a few more basketball wins, that is his and his families decision. Not worth it at my house. He is too small to gain a college scholarship of any significance. I guess this is how ridiculous sports can get.

    Good Luck.

  8. The Monroe Evening News covers the teams whose school district is in Monroe County or partly in Monroe County. Huron, Flat Rock and Milan have parts of their districts in Monroe County.

  9. Keep in mind that the Snooze2you website is simply "projections". The actual divisions won't be finalized until the powers that be know how many teams have qualified for the playoffs, then they will work from the top to the bottom based on school size and playoff points. It is plausible that Milan could have to slide up into Div. 3 if there are not enough schools that hit the number of wins or have enough playoff points to get in with 5 wins.

Keep playing hard and we will see where it all lands.

  10. I've been watching the Huron League for a long time. I have not seen a defense as fast as Milan's. I know our QB was out, not sure it would've made a difference. They were flying around busting up our plays before they developed. We need to change our offensive scheme if we want to try and make the playoffs. I still think it's possible.

  11. Running the T or wing T isn't a junior high offense. All teams in our league will never wing a state championship running at 21st century offense because we are not athletic enough to get past the teams that will be more athletic then our darlings. Look at milan, when they run into melvindale, country day or others who are athletic as the are they lose. Same as Grosse Ile. When they were really good a couple years ago they run into a detroit team that can man them up and bring the house. Can't get past second round. If you look in the downriver league wyandotte has the same problem. Dominate the league then run into king or someone like that. Running a ball control junior high offense would at least give them a chance. Those schools have much better players and athletes then us. Sorry parents its true. Look at the scholarship comparison. That is why SMCC can beat teams like milan, GI and Huron who are more athletic then them. The offense gives them a chance to win. You still need players to win. SMCC has been hit with injuries this year and a small class of kids. It happens. Its not the offense.

    1. Not to mention that they have killed themselves with mistakes and turnovers at crucial times. But Hey these teams are really still made up of kids.

    2. @9:42 GI beat every Detroit team they played 2012-2013, I'm pretty sure Milan beat teams who were more athletically gifted on their trip last year as well. It comes down to coaching. Don't speak on things that you know absolutely nothing about.

    4. Marine city more athletic, country day more athletic, and chelsea more athletic. Sorry not detroit schools but more athletic. Also douglass coaching gave away a game. More athletic.

  12. Yeah heard they have 5'8' guard that transferred in. Man they get all the d1 guys. Maybe someday Chris will explain basketball recruiting and what goes on up in his area where actual recruiting happens.

    1. If you are referring to MAXX new guard, don't under estimate him because he's not tall. Very talented young man. Remember the name Hunter Kegley. You'll be hearing it a lot. Kid grinds hard.

  13. Is it just me, or does it seem like GI is always begging for respect on here? Just shut up and let your record speak for itself! Signed, the rest of the league

    1. This is a newspaper they are supposed to report the news; the Monroe EveningNews reports national as well international so don't talk about they are not in the county; they are part of the Huron League The Monroe Evening News covers the Tigers, Pistons , U of M and MSU and they are not In the county so covers the news

  14. Great game GI Does the Monroe Evening News not realize that SMCC lost? They focused only on the stats for SMCC and mentioned no stats for GI. Sounds a bit biased. Does SMCCC need to be pumped up that badly?

  15. Great game GI Does the Monroe Evening New not realize that Grosse Ile won. They focused on the stats for SMCC and mentioned no stats for GI. Does SMCC need to be pumped up that badly? Interesting they don't do that for any other school. Seems a bit biased

    1. GI and Riverview are not covered in the Monre Evening News. They cover Monroe county teams plus Flat Rock, Carlson and Tecumseh.

  16. Great game GI Does the Monroe Evening New not realize that Grosse Ile won. They focused on the stats for SMCC and mentioned no stats for GI. Does SMCC need to be pumped up that badly? Interesting they don't do that for any other school. Seems a bit biased

  17. Flat Rock beat Summit and should have a victory again versus Hazel Park at end of season just like last season. Matched last season with victory over Jets. How many wins do they need to have a chance at playoffs?

    1. They need to win out to get 6 wins. They play @jefferson then home against Riverview at Huron and home against hazel park. Absolutely doable

  18. When are some of these coaches going to start coaching 21st century football and get rid of this 3 back offense garbage? Coaches have caught on to how to shut down the Wing-T offense, that is why you don't see many teams in the finals running it anymore! SMCC was held to 6 points in the last 2 weeks, Airport has 1 win this year, Jefferson has struggled last few years, and schools like Dundee and Monroe will always stay average as long as they utilize this offense. I could go on and on! Even Zeeland West is having difficulty this year. I feel bad for the players of these teams who could win some games if their coaches stopped using this junior high offense!

  19. Milan was D-4 last year and there is a good chance they could meet in the district. Let's hope for both sides that River Rouge goes with Country Day in the opposite side. They are really good and it would be very hard for Milan or GI to beat them this year especially with the D-1 QB that came over from DHR. They put a hurting on Chelsea in week one even though they forfeited for using a JV kid that played in both games accidentally. 3-4 legit D-1 kids at Rouge and Corey Parker is a really good coach that has turned Rouge into a power.

Would love to see Cointry Day and Rouge in The same district since Rouge is moving to D-4. Snooze has them matching up, but it all depends on teams like Adrian and Tecumseh if they will make it in or not. Adrian looks like it will with a win over Ypsi last night. Should be interesting.

  20. Hey think we can get the teams to change that Milan- GI game to Saturday? I have to watch sons game Friday! Would love to see that game! Showdown of the season for HL

  21. CC had two long drives that ended in the redzone on downs. They had two early turnovers that cost them momentum and points. Not excuses, but you don't win many games turning over the ball and getting penalties that kill drives or keep your opponents going. This is the year for H.L. teams with some talent to beat CC and put a feather in their cap. It goes to show that when enrollment is down so is your talent. We may be witnessing the end of a H.L. dynasty unless there is some Divine intervention. Huron and GI were way to physical for CC to handle an entire game. GI even on side kick twice and got one. Simple game simple concept. Looks like a great show down next week. The best two coaches in the H.L. get to face off.

  22. Let's set the record straight. AP didn't have enough talent to beat Huron and there starting QB. I believe Huron won. Just keeping it real.

  24. Well based off my name ill have to say something encouraging despite that game last night. This season is over for Riverview but there is reason to believe they can be much better next year. Only 3 seniors start for the bucs either way of the ball(out of 6 on the team) last night that was matched by the starting sophomores (QB back and safety) . This year is at this point is just continuing to improve so this talented junior and sophomore class can make the playoffs next year.
    View hopeful…

  25. It's amazing that no one is complaining about all the recruiting that SMCC does now that they are 2-3. It is very refreshing so a BIG thanks to all of you SMCC haters!!

  26. Where's all my delusional SMCC fans? I just call em like I see em. Did I want SMCC to win? Of course! Did I know they would lose? Yes. From what I've seen so far this year, Chris' prediction could be spot on. Did I like it when I first saw it? Hell, no. But I watched our team, and reality set in. Get ready for a lot of "firsts". Not all of them are gonna be good.
    – A realistic SMCC fan/Alum

    1. FR Dad here… Have to agree with you Chris. The teams ahead of us have either beaten us, or have more league wins. Beat Jefferson, and then Riverview, and FR will move up in the rankings. On a side note, rankings are fun for us, but I'm guessing they mean little to the coaches and players. Nonetheless, I enjoy reading your thoughts and the thoughts of other fans from around the league. Nice win last night! Go Rams!

  27. Still no respect for flat rock…. thanks for the chip your giving our kids chris. They will show it Friday night when we ruin another home coming.

  28. Congrats to GI and Milan for their winning records and first place positions in the Huron League. I am sure next weeks match up will be a Great one!!!! Good Luck to both of your teams.
    Huron League Fan.

  29. I don't see a lot of trash talking between GI and Milan coming this week. Both teams know they're good, no need for that. Just lace'em up a play. Trash talk is for the teams that want to be able to hang with the big boys, but can't. Can't wait for Friday!

    1. Trash talk is for the people who are used to winning. Look at the all-time records of all of the Huron League teams. Then ask yourself one question. How has my team done against the opposing team historically? You may have won the game this year, but until your record evens up a bit, you may want to zip it.

  30. Best Defense vs Best offense in the league

    Vollmerhausen vs Lindamen

    Trombley vs Furtney

    Sheppard vs Barnes

    Undefeated vs Undefeated

    What a huron league showdown

    1. Regardless of what happens next week between GI and Milan, I'm looking forward to watching these teams in the playoffs. I really think both teams can make a long run toward a State Title.

    2. What's great about GI and MIlan is they are totally different relying on their skill players and their defense. No doubt both offenses can score points. It's going to be fun to watch. We now know both will make the play offs. As far as power rankings with out a doubt they are the top 2, now we get to see who is the #1 team in the league.

  31. Injuries and losing some key players have taken the Bucs out of the season. All they can do now is try to get through the rest of this season with their heads high and wait til next year.

  32. Agree with this list. Before everyone starts complaining or bragging, remember, the coaches ARE part of the team like it or not.

    1. Lol, I might have to start an airport blog so we can cry to each other . And point fingers 👈👉☝👆👇✌🖖🤘🖑🖐🖐✊✋👊👋🖓🖒👎👍👌
