I have watched some film on Furtney, and he is definitely a force, but saying he is the best defensive player in the league is a false statement. Trombley and Weiwuera are the two best d-lineman in the league. Trombley has 35 tackles making him third in the league in tackles and Wiewiura has 26 making him 10. Trombley has 5 sacks and Weiwiura has 4. Making them the league leaders in sacks as well. I am not sure what offenses are averaging in rushing yards per game against the Devils, but I know it is low. The run defense of the Big Reds has been less than stellar. GI's defensive end Aaron Blanzy also has three sacks and 35 tackles, so we could throw him in the mix as top defensive lineman in the league as well.

I'm glad to see there are some people who actually know what they are talking about and can put these 'Airport fans" in their place. Those of you who keep bashing have no idea what is going on behind the scenes and apparently don't care to really find out.
Who is betting a 6 pack FR gets in the playoffs? I'll bet you a case they don't win 5 games. Next year is their year with all seniors and the best class they've ever had
GI is 10 in one of the polls. But frankly those guys know very little. The rankings are often times ridiculous.

AP parents you all have the answers(afterthefact)and all know what, how and when this is why this blog is a joke kids read this stuff and believe it ther're 1-3 due to some errors on both o/d with a very good chance to WIN this Friday. AP is still a contender in what happens in this league they are a good fb team when they limit errors is your kid healthy and able to play?some in this league will not see the field again this year so let them play and be kids for heavens sakes!!!! Does it do your FB team any good to bitch/ridicule coaches? players? about formations? defensive played? players at this position that position he gets this many carries etc etc etc STOP and let them be fb players without all this CRAP. Let the season play out 10 years from now will it really matter?

Jefferson fans keep saying Humphries had 200 yds.rushing. The Monroe News says he ran for 141 on 28 carries. That's an avg. of 5 yds. a carry. Still a very good night, but please get your #'s right.
That idea that you have to run an up tempo high octane spread passing attack in high school just because they run it in college is an absolute farce. I got bad news for you, your kid probably isn't going to play in college, stop specializing and playing one sport. Fire off the ball and execute. The Airport parents are making me laugh. The parents always think they know more than the coaches, what a joke.

I think bad mouthing coaches on here is the same as bad mouthing players. These coaches get paid pennies per hours put in. They don't get paid for the summer and off season stuff. Lets make this blog about the positive things in our league because there are a lot of them. Bad mouthing coaches only helps divide the team and has no place on here. The ONLY problem I see with this blog is that it gives complainers a place to have a podium. Chris hopefully we can stop the negative comments on players and coaches.

AP FAN do you go to the games? Do you know the schemes? Defense? Offense? I get the scouting reports ! Know the assignments ! The coachs definitely put in the time! I think there doing there jobs! BUT. Something's a miss! It's very obvious! I know guys who can do there jobs for 8 hrs a day but it's still not acceptable! Do you get that? Fly in the screen doesn't get to go around to the open door!
Huron played well, but don't get too excited about beating SMCC. There is a lot of football left and SMCC dominated yardage and first downs.

Before you chalk it up as stupid, hear me out. 90% of high school football is running plays. You can usually figure where the plays going by formation. Milan is good in pass coverage, their struggles are on interior runs, usually away from #9 and #74. Having 9 limited only at SAM is a waste. He's one of the smartest players I've seen. Let him roam and he'll probably have 25 tackles a game.
If he's "roaming" and has 25 tackles they are probably after 5+ gains which wouldn't help the defense at all

Milan should move Furtney to nose tackle and have Lindeman be a " rover". Clog the middle and let #9 roam with some freedom. Someone from Milan please get this to the coaches. This could be a special year, but the D has to change something.
Calm coach Hoskins. He's the DC… Really terrible coach. The guy never wins and his players hate him. Just barely holding on to his job from what I've heard. How can u start 0-4 with all their talent. Super bad coach…… Hahahha hahahaha
He's a great coach! Just saying, they have played the weaker teams in the league up to this point. D has to change or GI, SMCC, and Huron are going to be losses. The D lineman are not sustaining blocks and Linebackers are getting pushed around.

Try to stay positive fans! Good coaches on all the teams this year! All dedicated gentlemen! I hope players and coaches stay focused and ignore the negative comments. Huron league is tough every year. Encourage your teams and don't give up on them. Next week is a new game and true fans will support their teams and let them know they are behind these fine young men for all teams!

Well deserved win for the Pirates. They have overcome lots of obstacles in the first few weeks with injuries. They dug in deep asking their Seniors to play different positions and they did a great job. There is lots of talent in Riverview. I would not count them out. Also a big shout out to the AP coach who won the 50/50 and donating most of it back to the boosters. Class act! Lets go Bucs!!
"they asked their seniors to play different positions" … should always be the case. Kids (or dads) telling the coaches where they should play is just wrong. It is a team sport … period. Play where you are needed … period.
My point was they have the depth and talent to make these movee and they ARE "playing as a team"
AP has quite a bit of talent on the team, lineman included. The kids think the coaches are a joke, they only utilize 3 or 4 players. AP parents,players, and fans have every right to be frustrated. Winning seasons UNTIL varsity…that has EVERYTHING to do with coaching whether it has to do with discipline, plays, or lack of motivation. Do not try to blame this on the kids. Watching the same kids through the years you know what talent is there and its heart breaking to watch it go to waste.
You should be ashamed saying " the kids think the coaches are a joke". You apply for the position of coach. That coach has spent his entire summer getting the kids ready for the season. Here's a thought: maybe, just maybe, the other teams in the league are JUST BETTER. I'm so tired of hearing AP people on this blog coming up with excuses as to the team losing. The parents are completely undermining the coachs! Shame on them !!! It's all my kid this my kid that! Watch the darn films all your kids are not doing there assignments or are playing very soft! I'm not defending the coachs but if the kids don't do there jobs what are they to do? I say bench those lazy LB's and play people who are willing to lay it out there! On offense get back to basics ! RB's run ball and TE blocks! It's that easy! It's the darn wing "t"! Run it!!
As mentioned above my son was injured in the Huron/SMCC game. After the game was over as we were getting him in the car the coach from SMCC came to the car to talk to him. It was a great show of sportsmanship and class. Good luck to SMCC the rest of the season.

I've come to the conclusion that SMCC is a Jekyll and Hyde team. Either way, Kipf needs to have a plan "B" when things aren't working. He also needs to start scouting the soccer team for a kicker.
Wow I know pewamo Westphalia isn't in the league but their last three games they've out scored their opponents 64-0, 49-0, and 76-0 😳😳 that's an average of 63-0 so we can tell smcc's defense is for real this year

Riverview last night was down 1 starting RB 1 starting lineman on top of season ending injuries to the QB and there most season LB and last night because of unsportsman like conduct against Airport they lost their starting safety for the 2nd half of the game! Riverview can't catch a break!

Low hanging fruit
All season long for Airport if the coaches at Airport would have blitzed Mossberg less and let him sit back and read and react the defense would have been better. On offense you should have probably left the big kid at TE to block and open up holes for Bondy or Goretski to run sweeps. It makes no sense to take away your best blocker and have him run the football. This is where the coaching staff has failed this year. Play the game the way it's meant to be played. Blitz your LB only when needed, run the offense the way it's designed (with all 3 RB's). If you run the offense the way it should be ran you wouldn't have to pass 15-20 times a game.
These seniors on Airport have been losing so long! They forgot how to win! They have lost faith in the coaching staff! Once that happens everyone knows what happens! I say players you have to play for each other! Not mom or dad or yourself! Play your heart out for your brothers in battle! 5 more games to man up and kick butt!

The 8-1 record the Airport JV team had last year was largely because of the Freshman class who are now Sophmores this year. There were more Freshman starting on that team last year than there were Sophmores. Talent should be better next year but who really knows. Baas isn't using his players right. You shouldn't be handing your TE the ball to run sweeps. You don't see SMCC giving Laplante the ball. Airport players are on the practice field Saturday's and Sunday's. For what? Maybe they're burned out. There's no discipline anywhere in the program. Including JV level. How can kids look up to 20 something year old coaches for discipline?? Change must be made.

4 played wonderful last night for airport as well as 15. However it did become blatantly obvious what was going to be called later in the game. When airport drove on view late in the game and were stuffed it was because they ran 2 plays the whole drive (15 jet and 4 off tackle) and view realized.
Great game by both teams amd it was very close going into the 4th. Hope view can be prepared for Jefferson this week.

The Bears lost to 3 state ranked teams with a combined 12-0 Record. some winnable games in the future for them.
Milan is not ranked and neither is GI according to the free press, news, or AP poll lol

Vollmerhausen had 28 carries in just last night's game alone, no love for him? Not to downplay and other RB in the league, but it seems that when it come to offense, he should be on your list, Chris. Not everyone sends in stats to Maxpreps, but as of today, he's #5 in the State.
And how about that GI line? They are making the real difference this year.
Someone's a little butt hurt about GI non-love.
That's why the other RB is mentioned as one of the best in the league. He gets as many yards on 10-15 carries as someone who is running the ball 28-30 times.

Exactly he is a team player! He is out there for the love of the game and his team! He does not care how many carries he gets, it's not about Trace, it's about his team.

Keep in mind 4-5 was predicted for SMCC.
LIndeman is averaging 16 carries per game and Barnes is averaging 17 carries. Their offense is read based. I am assuming teams would key on Lindeman, so I am thinking 15 carries a game is about right.

Agree that JV is different, but varsity staff still needs to change up the play calling. Maybe start with the no huddle and hurry up tempo that the JV deplores? At least keep the defense on its heels and guessing more. Way to predictable!
Believe or not, I felt #9 was held in check pretty good tonight. His explosive runs that didn't count were aided by holding on the ends. I don't know how many yards he had, but he was outshined by #7 today. 1-2 Jefferson almost majorly upset a 3-0 team. Milan was way out off gas at the end, they are lucky that game ended when it did.
By the way, the BEARS were running from NO one. Power, Power, Power Boys.
Furtney was double teamed all night, nobody else stepped up on D. Milan better fix that if they are going to win the league.

LoL outshined?? Dude that's funny, 7 had how many carries? 25-30 while 9 had about 11-15… No the difference was 7 got a lot more opportunity than 9 did. That has nothing to do with Jefferson but with the Milan coaches.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Milan scored at will and the only time they didn't was when they threw phantom holding calls taking away touchdowns or long plays, or the best was the first play of the game when the side judge called a 70 td touchdown back on an offensive face mask called on a lineman from the side judge 15 yds away.
Jefferson is a tough team with some gritty kids, but come on guys, those refs did everything they could to keep Milan from winning. The game isn't close if the penalties weren't called or for that matter called both ways. Did Jefferson run the ball well. They sure did and #7 is really good. Awesome football player. But some games are changed by the referees and this one was pretty obvious. Refs should never change the way the game is played and glad they didn't take the game away f rom the Milan kids tonight. It was as bad as I've seen in a long time.
Funny thing is you say he was kept in check , I say did his job #9 may not have had as many touches but you can't take your eyes off him. Never know when he's going to pop a big run. That being said his job has been done in the past few games. How many of your players on defense stepped his way first or looked his way first to find where he's at. That free's someone up for a step or two. That's all they need.
Milan and Jefferson wax a solid high school football game. Both teams played hard til the very end. I agree #9 dad, Bears running back is good. Not sure where the league assignor got the officiating crew from, but they were terrible. Side judge and referee couldn't keep up with the plays, we're trying to make calls from the other side of the field and/or made calls WAY after the play was completed. Milan needs to get better against the run in the next couple of weeks, but as they proved again tonight…..they can score fast. They scored tonight on the ground and through the air. Enjoyable game. Nice job Bears and Big Reds.

Airport fan here….. It’s not the play calling, it’s not the coaches fault, it’s the lack of talent,you can only call the plays you think may work for the personnel you have….. the best quality of a good coach is to get every bit of skill, energy, heart and passion out of a player. Was Redmond better than Baas at that?? Maybe. Airport has very little talent, 3or4 players – that's it. No lineman, either side of the ball and slow small linebackers. Redmond had more talent and got every ounce of it out his players, even the fair talented ones. Airport might beat Flat Rock next week but that’s it.

It most definitely is a coaching issue on Airports side. You have a lot of thes boys that came up from JV last year that went 8-1. When you have coaches from other teams telling AP parents that they know what plays AP is going to run before we run them, that's a problem. Airport will not have a winning team again until there is some coaching changes. AP use to be in the playoffs every year until this coaching g staff took over. So don't tell me they don't have talent!!!!
You say you're an airport fan? Must be a relative of coach as well and sticking up for him, which is the right thing to do. However, has made too many bad decisions this year and changed up personnel and formations that have not worked. That's on the staff!
Airport has talent and size. They can play with anyone as they showed against NB. Poor coaching. Defense should focus on being good at one thing rather than trying to do 10 different things. Offense trying to get too fancy. Just use the wing t and control the game. You have the players to do it.

Milan was uposted 21 to 7 at half. Mike Furtney was a major part of why the Big Reds won. Them bears ran away from him all night. Mike is the best defensive player in the league period.
Jeff ran from #9 actually. Milan's rush defense was pathetic. #7 was rolling
7 was a monster. I actually went up to him after the game and told him that. I like the way that kid plays.
My thoughts of Jefferson is that they are a team that actually did what they should have. They kept the ball on O and and drove it down the field. But Milan has a very explosive offense and they are going to score points.
9 had 2 carries for 115 yards and 2 TDs that was called back on penalties. Jefferson played an A game but fell a little short and MIlan did enough. The next 3 games will decide the Champs.

Jefferson/Milan excellent game. Not sure if Jefferson was underrated or Milan overrated, either way, great to watch. 1 turnover whole game. Lots of great plays.
Jefferson was up in the 4th but Milan opened up it with 2 late TD's.
Jefferson made it closer with a late TD, tried onside kick to no avail. Great game, the next few weeks will be very interesting. GI still team to beat.

Huron beating SMCC was not a real upset. Figured it to be close. Huron won the LOS battle. And special teams. Punt return led to only touchdown. Good win
Flat Rock gave up a score and all the momentum going into the half down 21-12 when it should a been 14-12. If flat rock is gonna make the playoffs and compete in this second half of the season they have to put 2 half's together.

Worst officiating I've ever seen at Jefferson. Flags 10-1 on Milan. 3 touchdowns called back. Guys were really bad.

The officiating was not the reason this game was close. Jeff run game was rolling but Milan's offense is very good
I disagree just a bit. 2 TDs called back. The helmet to helmet was bogus. The 4th down at the goal line for a defensive block in the back was bogus.
Like I said I have never ever blamed or called refs out but they were bad. Jefferson did a good job on offense. Not trying to take anything away from them. But the refs were bad.
Airport looked dull. Didn't attack the line, they got pushed around. You can't win a game with that many penalties and turnovers. Discipline.
