Flat Rock @ Airport

Be Sure to check out the podcast: Flat Rock @ Airport

Flat Rock (1-3) suffered their third straight defeat in their 49-20 loss against Grosse Ile while Airport (1-3) suffered it’s 3rd straight loss after an opening week win over Dundee as the Jets fell 30-14 to Riverview. Flat Rock won last season’s matchup in OT as the Rams won 34-28, but Airport leads the all-time series 30-27.

Flat Rock once again played well in the first half against a quality opponent as the Rams finished their 3 week run against three of the better teams in the league. The offense has been balanced between the run and pass and relies on QB Jacob Dotson, RB Cameron Stitt and WR  Anthony Higginbotham. The defense still gives up too many points, but is consistently better than last season.

Airport’s woes continued last week against Riverview and the Jets must find a way to right the ship. The offense still revolves around junior RB Michael Foor while junior Tanner Jeska continues to show he is a capable QB. The defense continues to be led by senior LB’s Justin Goretski and Brent Mossburg.

This is a must win game for both teams. Flat Rock could find themselves in a positive position with the toughest part of their schedule behind them if they could get the win. Airport has the teeth of their schedule in weeks 6-8 and a win would give them some much needed confidence. Prediction: Airport 28 Flat Rock 26

  1. The Mud Hens did well too. Does anybody even know it. Plan for Varsity. No voting.

Obviously its not working, Varsity has struggled.

  2. Fire the coach, change the uniforms, get new helmets, move up JV players. Lol. How about the kids just hold on to the darn ball and show some guts for once. Get tough. Push someone around. Homecoming. Get it done and take it upon your own shoulders.

  3. Or give him some breaks when you're on offense. So he's not wore out for defense the real strength of his game. Maybe we can play 4 quarters that way!

  4. Wimpy burger in Flat Rock is awesome. Flat Rock wins, wimpy burgers on me. Just kiddng. It is a great place though, if your up that way.

    RAMS WIN 21-12.

  5. You pexpletive are forgetting FR had Justin Roberts at QB last year. The only thing improved about FR this year is their defense and that is still giving up 30 ppg after a shutout to summit. In the last 3 that's 41 ppg. I'm not sure if that's a huge improvement and they've turned the corner. I guess they were so bad that it used to be running clocks but let's not crown them until they win a game they're not supposed to. In the HL you need to play run D and they don't get off blocks or tackle well. Airport needs to give four the ball 35 times and control the clock. No wildcat or front side zone read. That stuff is silly. Lineup mossburg and go unbalanced run belly 3 different ways and win. Stop watching the Internet and adding Texas A&M playbook.

    1. Your wrong! Give Foor the ball 20 or so times, and 10-20 times between Goreski and Bondy! Throw some slants and other passes to Mossberg. Use him as he should be used. That's blocking. No handing the ball off to TE!

  6. Why flat rock I sure hope these are fr kids let's look into who you've beaten this year and last? So a 1-8 airport team and two winless teams summit and hazel park 0-18 in 2015 this year you have beaten probably the worse team in the lower half of Michigan that many 8 man football teams could beat and you've lost in blowouts yes blowouts I don't give a hoot what the score was at half you have been blown out in all other games you will beat hazel park week 9 you won't beat ap Jefferson riverview or Huron

    1. HI fan? So you are a fan of Hawaii? Understandable. I hear it is beautiful. There football team is not very good, however, and haven't been since June Jones left. Pretty clear that you are not a fan of punctuation, but I'm guessing they must do things differently on the islands… I wouldn't know. Never been there.

  7. Do or die for a playoff berth here. You lose you're officially done. I see a hard fought game with Airport coming out on top, only because of home field. AP 23 Flat Rock 20

  8. Flat Rock will roll. They won last year with a less talented team. This year they will leave no doubt. Maybe Airport moved some of those JV kids to Varsity this week. Could make a difference.

Then again, it is very important to have an undefeated JV. Probably didn't move them.

    RAMS WIN 28 – 15

    1. They wanted to move some kids up, but there kids voted and decided going undefeated was more important. Best JV in the league.

    2. No one cares about JV records!!!! Varsity is a whole different level of play! Some of the best JV players never even start at the varsity level…

  9. That's not what I meant STUD!!! I haven't seen anything on this kid lately, and I haven't heard his name mentioned lately. Didn't know if he was hurt or something.

  10. Do you recall what Chris said a few weeks ago? He tries to give all of the talented players blog time. Chill stud, I'm sure he knows, and I'm sure you know that he is one of the better players on the team. I don't think Chris is trying to take anything from him. LOL!!!

  11. Did something happen to Sage Daniels? I noticed you didn't mention him above as part of that offensive balance. Last I checked, he was the best player on that team.

  12. Chad,
Run belly, trap, jet, buck sweep, with waggle, fade to mossberg and your counter play. Donthe line up in ask this wildcat.. spread garbage. You have good talent. Stick to your core stuff and get good at it and you'll win 4 games. Look at the good teams in the HL. they add small wrinkles to their core stuff. Your defense is fine.

  13. Airport gets the W and shows most improvement than any other team in the league by being only team to increase their win total from laSt year by 200%

  14. Airport 21 FR 20…homecoming for the Jets, they get the win scoring late on jeska to mossburg pass in final 5 minutes…I see this being highly competitive the entire game, both teams play well as airport gets revenge for last year
