Grosse Ile at Jefferson Preview

Please be sure to check out the podcast  Grosse Ile @ Jefferson Preview Podcast

Grosse Ile (1-0) is coming off of an impressive 41-21 victory over Jackson County Parma Western while Jefferson (0-1) is licking it’s wounds from a hard fought  51-26 loss to Ida. Jefferson won last seasons game 21-18 and leads the all-time series 26-23.

Grosse Ile rushed for 234 yards last week and was led by senior Andrew Vollmerhausen’s 110 yards. Senior QB Josh Sheppard ran the Red Devil offense efficiently while throwing for a TD and no interceptions. Look for more of the same from the Red Devil offense, but don’t be surprised if veteran QB Justin Moores steps in if the Islanders need to air it out. The defense is led by senior DB Josh Moskall and senior DT Dominc Trombley.

Jefferson is led by senior QB Brandon Sovey and senior RB Nick Humphrey. Look for these two to provide a bulk of the offense again this week. Defensively the Bears are led by their LB’s Devon Rozmiarek and Cameron Smith.

This should be a good game that I am excited to attend on Thursday evening. Probably a game that either team could win. I still see Grosse Ile as one of the league favorites. Prediction: Grosse Ile 27 Jefferson 21

  1. The whole coaching staff is a joke and they all need to go. Hire outside the school so they don't play favoritism. Favoritism is the main reason for losing. I see the talent they have they wont use it in fear it will out show there own son. Pathetic pathetic pathetic!!!

  2. The board a.d superintendent don't care . alumni have been unhappy for awhile they don't listen. excuses all the time my kids will not play football here next year.

  3. Unfortunately Jefferson AD and board continue to put up with unsuccessful coaches. A few bad years doesn't seem to get them booted. This being the 5th year now, one would assume they would have no choice.

The alumni coaching system has to go, the alum and teachers that are interested are not qualified. JV coach is good. Best coach they have. All varsity, GONE.

  4. I think this Should be a good game too. I believe it will be closer and could go either way. in the 1st half Extra points killed Jeff. need to get better that's why they were down @ half Lets go Jeff 38 Islanders 34.

  5. This will be a great game. This will be a shootout. Remember the 2010 game? Jefferson won 75-56. No kidding, check the record book. We could see that again. Jefferson QB had 3 TD's and 160 yards last week and didn't play the 2nd half

If Jefferson can muster up some defense, they could pull this one out.

    Jefferson 52- GI 40

    GO BEARS!!

  6. This game will be quite the contest, a confident GI Red Devil team is a force to be reckoned with, and I think the three-headed monster of GI will ultimately be too much for the Bears to handle. Josh Moskall and Andrew Vollmerhausen are animals with much to prove. The Red Devil front is also a force to be reckoned with Dominic Trombley Making plays on the defensive side, and leading the offensive line. The Bears are absolutely coming to play, and will be playing with a chip on their shoulder, but I do not think they have the talent or coaching to keep up with the Islanders.
    GI-42
    Bears-17

    Mystery Man

  7. This should be a good one. If Jefferson can play some defense. And by that I mean hold GI Under 30, this will be tight.
