River Rouge @ Riverview

River Rouge (7-1) is coming off of a forfeit win over Detroit Edison while Riverview (6-2) beat arch-rival Grosse Ile 21-20. Only about 8 miles as the crow flies separate these two schools, yet they have never met in football.

River Rouge has become a solid program and made a small run last season in Division 5. The Panthers really don’t have a quality win this season, but their only loss is to 7-1 Notre Dame Prep. Senior RB Lenell Martin Jr. is a small yet elusive runner while WR Aaron Vinson is an explosive player. The Panthers boast an extremely big offensive line.

Riverview is led by arguably the best two way player in the Huron League in senior FB/LB Tyler Chase. The bulk of the offense will still go through senior RB Eric Gant. The Pirate defense is extremely physical, but may have a hard time keeping up with the Panther spread offense.

This is a great week 9 match up which should prepare both teams for the playoffs. Give me the running game and defense of the Pirates. Pick: Riverview 21 River Rouge 19

  1. Riverview had a solid game. Rouge was very undisciplined the first half. If I didn't know better I would say they brought in another team to play after halftime. Also I never blame the refs for the loss but this crew was the worst I have ever seen. To many calls and situations to even post host.

  2. RR will go deep in the STATE play off. This team can score at will !!!
Well tune, THROW BACK st.Martin Deporr Clone !!!

  4. INSIDE JOB here I told Rouge would win this one. #9 Dad anything right and if they still play you theyll lose again. Shrine Wins Shrine WINS!! Detroit Edison dont mess with CS!!

  5. Good test for Riverview heading into the playoffs. Looks like they will be heading to Allen Park or Trenton for Round 1. Either would be a good game. EM

  6. Riverview needs to work on their pass coverage as well as getting pressure on the QB. Those things almost lost the game for them last week against GI. If the O-Line is as big as you say, it might be a long night for the Pirates.

  7. I can't believe that is allowed. If I were a player or a fan of that team I'd be extremely disappointed. Not playing against Rouge is a huge loss…they lose an opportunity to scheme against a good team. It'll hurt them in the playoffs.

  8. Edison is 5-3 and is hoping to get it's 6th win against Royal Oak Shrine. I thought right away that they were taking a forfeit to stay away from injury. That is garbage. I hope Shrine beats them.

  9. Detroit Edison forfeit because they already have six wins and didn't want to get beat up before playoffs, Edison plays a weak team Friday according to an Asst. Coach from Rouge.

  10. Detroit Edison forfeit because they already have six wins and didn't want to get beat up before playoffs. That's what one of their Asst. Coaches said.

  11. Eric Gant hasn't played in 2 weeks how is he going to get the bulk of the carries? this new RB #2 that riverview has to be the guy going forward.
