Division 6
Region 4 District 2
Clinton (9-0) @ SMCC (8-1)
Michgan Collegiate (5-4) @ Madison Heights Madison (8-1)
Outlook: This will be a three team battle. Not sure how SMCC secures a home game while 9-0 Clinton ends up playing on the road. This may be the year Clinton gets by SMCC.
State Champion Pick: Traverse City St. Francis
Division 4
Region 4 District 1
Detroit Cesar Chavez (7-2) @ Milan (7-2)
Detroit Denby 5-4 @ Detroit Collegiate Prep (9-0)
Outlook: This district is Milan’s to win. Chavez wouldn’t win a game in the Huron league. Collegiate Prep hasn’t played a very tough schedule. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are the old Detroit Northwestern.
State Champion Pick: Zeeland West
Division 3
Region 4 District 1
New Boston Huron (5-4) @ Trenton (8-1)
Romulus (6-3) @ Chelsea (8-1)
Outlook: Huron has to feel fortunate to be in the playoffs. Trenton and Chelsea are the favorites.
Region 4 District 2
Riverview (6-3) @ Allen Park (8-1)
Warren Fitzgerald (6-3) @ Redford Thurston (5-4)
Outlook: Riverview received a tough draw, but if they get by Allen Park they should win this district.
State Champion Pick: Orchard Lake St. Mary
bn has been on this blog forever. I had a family member play years back and I remember him from then. Anyone ever think bn might not even be real? Maybe bn is how Chris stirs the pot! Ha!! Just kidding.
SMCC is a great+good=goot team lol. $ince 2000 they like money…14 of 16 yrs of playoff qualifications, 9 District 8 Regional 7 Semi appearances 3 wins 4 Final appearances 1 win..there's nothing to say! inside job
Chris,
So if his knowledge is second to none and the 5 teams that SMCC must face would all be at the top of the HL – should SMCC just cut it's loses now and forfeit on Friday?
Didnt SMCC win the league? So the answer to your question is no, obviously.
"Could it be that. -bn, is really Son of Swami ??"
Now that is FUNNY!!
I have put my name on here before and many know who I am.
Im just a fan like everyone else. I do happen to have a step son on a team this year.
-bn
… and I didnt pick SMCC to be mediocre. I picked them to be 6-3. I am not a homer who thinks SMCC will beat the NE Patriots. I try to be objective. They have surpassed my expectations. I for one am glad they did.
-bn
Thanks Chris,
I am lucky enough to have access to HUDL and can watch a ton of games. It keeps me close to home. I dont think any of my comments were aimed at knocking anyone. Im not even sure where that is coming from? Anyway, I always root for the HL teams come playoff time.. even Jefferson 🙂
-bn
I will say it. BN is a former coach and player who is on the first line of defense in the Global War on Terror in one of the branches of our armed forces. He has access to HUDL and is a student of the game. Thank you for your service!
The blog is about opinions, good, bad, right or wrong. If everything I type needs to be scientific fact, I'm out. bn- your comments seem intelligent most of the time, but there is no need to knock folks when you don't agree.
If your half way around the globe as Chris says, you haven't seen these teams play either. If your half way around the globe you don't coach either, so are you that bored to just watch random high school football games.?? Just my thoughts.
Not a doofus, just a fan.
Good luck to you.
So When monroe high has an open house. Trying to sell families on their school that is your form of recruiting.
This just in: Playoff teams are pretty good.
Friday's games can't come soon enough. At least we'll have something new to talk about then…
I agree Ithaca, Montague, Boyne city and Jackson Lumen Christi would beat the HL teams on a regular basis..INSIDE jOB
There are No experts cause you can say Cass Tech/OLSM could would should be top of the SEC Red….In My opinion SMCC is the team to beat in HL flat out and they the smallest. oh they recruit so does all the rest of them..
Name one recruited player.
Smcc recruits families that prefer or support this school for good eduactions and success at football not singularly recruit players.
I was at the scholarship ceremony. Scholarships are based on financial need. Not one football player received a scholarship that didn't play CYO. In fact, I saw very few football players.
Chris,
So if his knowledge is second to none and the 5 teams that SMCC must face would all be at the top of the HL – should SMCC just cut it's loses now and forfeit on Friday?
6:20pm – bn knows his stuff. He's pretty realistic and accurate in his assessments. To his 5 teams in top 2 of HL, I think I'd categorize those five teams as:
Clinton: Top 3
JLC: Top 3, Probable top 2
MHM: Top 2, Possible HL champ
Montague: HL champ
Ithaca: HL champ
bn is sold more on Clinton and JLC than I am, but I still think they're great teams. As far as telling him to keep his opinion to himself…that's just dumb, man. This is a blog; this is the place you make predictions and assess the teams. He can have an opinion and you can disagree with it. No need to be a jerk about that.
Could it be that. -bn, is really Son of Swami ??
If you only knew BN and his football background, knowledge and how much film he watches. All from half way around the globe. I would stack his knowledge against anyone on the blog.
-bn,
How are you so full of information when it comes to who is and who isn't a contender in the HL – especially teams you've never seen play.
I've watched Milan with a boatload of talent and Riverview who could've / should've been the top team in the HL this year. Milan, Riverview or SMCC are equal in talent and depth but SMCC found a way to win. Now we have to hear you say the "five" SMCC will play could beat Riverview, Milan and SMCC. You are being a silly doofus.
You, from the beginning selected SMCC to be mediocre and they won the league. Maybe now you should just keep to yourself with the opinion of who will and won't win and who could compete or not in the HL. I for one use your opinion this entire year for humor and even in the post season I know you really don't know too much.
FWIW, Saline has scheduled two Canadian teams this season and one in each of the previous two seasons. One of the two Canadian teams on this year's schedule forfeited, thus Saline enters the playoffs 8-0. When Saline did play a Canadian opponent in this span, they have won 55-14, 38-0, and 42-0. Each of the schools have been different, so it's not like Saline is scheduling a home and home or anything. I have no earthly idea why they do it.
@ 1:54, the playoff committee takes every 6 win (5 wins if 8 game season) team and ranks them purely by school size. They then divide those teams up evenly into 8 divisions. Then they look at the 5-4 teams with the best playoff points at each enrollment cut-off to fill the rest of the slots until you get 32 per division. Then they start in the northwest corner of the UP and group teams in each division by geography in order that schools do not have to travel too far in the early rounds of the playoffs.
These teams are in groups of 4, which constitute a district. They are then ranked based on playoff points (more wins equals more points and wins over bigger schools equal more points). The two higher ranked teams host the first round.
SMCC goes west because those are the schools closest geographically, however this year MHM and Mich. Collegiate are both decidedly north. SMCC is the furthest southeast Division 6 school in the state so they won't play a team to their south or east. The next school north is Burton Bendle or Byron and Clinton is just slightly east of Manchester which is the next school west. If anything Clinton could complain that they have to head east when Manchester is so close.
Go to http://www.snooze2you.com/2015/playoffs.php?year=2015&division=6&view=3&mobile=0 and you will see how it makes sense geographically. Riverview goes north because they can't go south or east and going west would mean a rematch with Huron. Huron goes "north" because they can't go south, Trenton is actually east and west would be Parma Western. Milan goes north because no one is east or south and west would be Plainwell.
2:07pm – this is a frustrating rule that MHSAA for some reason never changes. You'd think it'd alternate each year, but for whatever reason the following rules are always the rules:
Semifinal Games — Home teams (teams from Regionals No. 1 & 3) are to wear dark colored jerseys; visiting teams are to wear white colored jerseys.
Final Games — Winners at the Semifinal level from the Region 1 & 2 games will be home teams and wear dark colored jerseys. Winners from the Semifinal Region 3 & 4 games will be the visitors and will wear white colored jerseys.
At FF it really doesn't matter whether you're home or away…they're essentially the same thing. However, I have no idea why regions 1 & 3 are always the home team for the semis. The semi-final game attracts quite a crowd for both teams, and teams from regions 2 & 4 always have less seating than the other team (or at least in my experience) with this rule in place. Now it's not a huge disadvantage, but still one nonetheless.
There are two pretty simple solutions to the semi-finals home team decision:
1. Alternate the home team for regions 1 & 3 one year and regions 2 & 4 the next.
2. The "home team" is the team with more playoff points.
I'd be really interested to hear if there is a reason why it's the same every year.
East west north south they win the title last year. They played the best 2 teams on their way in JLC and Ithaca. Name a detroit school in 6 that has been any good in the last 10 years. Ecorse probably the best and they came to Navarre and got smashed. They played chandler park river rouge, Michigan collegiate twice. 1:54 there are your detroit teams in the last 5 years
Just wait, as SMCC's enrollment keeps dropping you'll be in D7 soon. And then you'll see a Detroit team in your district that'll make you want to head back up to 6. Meet Loyola
SMCC's path would be Clinton-MHM-JLC-Montague-Ithaca.
That is a really tough path. All 5 of those teams would be in the top 2 in the HL. 3 Would win it.
-bn
What does home team matter at FF?
Since there are questions like this, "Why does the winner of Region 1 vs 2 get to be the home team in the finals?"
I really dont see anything wrong with the system. The best team usually wins the state championship anyway. The fear for years was that too many 6-3 team would qualify and throw the system into chaos. It has never happened and quite frankly this year was proof that the system can work. There were a bunch of 5-4 teams that made the playoffs. I believe it is the highest ever, but what is wrong with that?
It has been fashionable on here to rip Huron for making the playoffs at 5-4. If you have watched them play, you know they aren't a bad team. They just couldnt beat the big three in the Huron League. They had a bad night against GI for whatever reason, but now they have a chance to redeem themselves. They still have arguably one of the best offensive players around in QB Matt Hartwick. Has Huron been awarded a spot that another team deserved this year? I don't think so.
As a High School football fan, I would love to see the Texas system. It would provide some great non-league matchups. The Downriver League drives me crazy with the all league schedule. Riverview should be playing Trenton, as should Grosse Ile. Those teams are natural rivals. For years FR and Carlson had a rivalry, now they can't even play. I would love to see Huron battle Woodhaven again.
System is cut and dry, but there should be some type of rotation or at least a changing of districts occasionally. When I played local teams would head northward for playoff games, thus most of us never went deep into the playoffs because the Detroit schools were very good. Its seem now that SMCC goes west all the time. Riverview is going north, Milan north and Huron north. Hows does this work?? I believe a lot of SMCC's success is based on this. If they went north their path would be much tougher and they may have not won the title.
I imagine school sizes and divisions have something to do with this, but we all know the competition north of here is much tougher than the competition west of here. Just curious. Thanks
"11:55 here. I would like to do two things. 1) eliminate so many 5 win teams. 2) make good programs play quality competition in none league games. It's simple if you eliminate the pre district and like the one responder said and Chris said pre rank the teams and assign pairings versus entire division so you keep the leagues intact. For example SMCC plays Trenton or Ida instead of Tecumseh. Huron doesn't plat Summit. Riverview doesn't play Ecorse. Michigan teams don't play weak Canadian teams. Ithaca doesn't play losing teams none conference."
If the "good" teams only play the "good" teams then the "bad" teams only play the "bad" teams. Then you are going to have some "good" teams with bad records and some "bad" teams with good records. So, how do you decide who gets into the playoffs? Do you tell the "bad" teams that they aren't good enough because they didn't play a tough enough schedule even though you have stacked it against them to begin with?
Farmington Hills Harrison got in at 5-4 in 1999 (the first year of win 6 and your in) and went on to win a state championship. Football isn't like baseball or hockey when a team "gets hot." They were a great team that year.
As for playing "weak" Canadian teams, who does that? I know the Catholic Central Division plays schools out of state, but that is because Michigan schools won't schedule them. I don't know of any other schools that play Canadian teams on a regular basis.
http://www.texasfootball.com/rankings/class-6a/
I will say this again for those who are new on here.
This is how the playoffs and divisions are set.
-256 WILL make the playoffs.
-ALL of the teams with 6 wins and 5 wins(who play 8 game schedules) will get in.
-After those teams are accounted for, if there arent 256 teams(which this year fell about 35 short or so) they pick those who have the highest Playoff Point Average of the 5 win teams(9 game schedule). This is how Huron got in.
-Now we are at 256 teams. Based on enrollment alone, the 256 teams are divided into 8 divisions of 32 teams. Wherever you fall is what division you are in.
-SO you arent in a division until after week 9. Clinton was never in D7.
Its that simple or not so simple.
-bn
Good to know, Chris. Thanks.
I usually enjoy going to see a game at a venue I've never visited before. Enjoyed the trip to Marshall this season and my first game at Ann Arbor Huron in about a decade. I'd love for Denby to win and set up a second home game for Milan, but I wouldn't mind making the trip to Northwestern, neither. Hopefully we can bring along a big crowd to support the team.
Yea it wasn't actually Clinton that got screwed in D6. They've been in 6 for a while. Their draw is tough Forsure. But that's just how it rolls sometimes. Traverse City St Francis got a tough draw though falling into 6 and being on ithicas side. D6 just became stacked. Especially with jlc montague north pointe Christian Smcc Clinton and Manchester.
PSL teams usually play 4 pm games for safety reasons. If Milan travels to Collegiate Prep @ Northwestern that game will most likely be a 7 pm. They have a great field with good lighting and parking. Easy access right off of !-96. The school is located at West Grand Blvd and Grand River. Not a nice area, but I have been there numerous times and never felt unsafe. They also have one of the best AD's in Detroit. Solid guy who runs a tight ship.
Clinton didn't move up. Divisions aren't determined until the playoff teams are set. Anything referencing Clinton as a D 7 team were by the media who were simply guessing what division they would be in. Clinton has fell in D6 ever since 2006.
Just an FYI for Big Reds fans and those thinking about travelling to see the potential District Final matchup of Milan @ Detroit Collegiate Prep. According to the brackets, Collegiate Prep is playing Denby this Friday at 4PM. Not sure if the field at Detroit Northwestern is shared, if there are no lights at that field, or some other reason for the early game like transportation issues.
If they weren't going to play the game at 7PM on Friday, I'd expect a Saturday afternoon game. Does anyone know the reason behind the weird start time at Northwestern? I'm concerned for selfish reasons, as a 4PM kickoff would be a challenge for me, even for a home game.
neutral field
[2015] Allen Park (MI) 22, [2015] Riverview (MI) 21
This prediction surprises me. AP plays in a so so league but with better(bigger) teams than the HL. I have AP winning by a couple scores but you never know. Riverview just cant get down early.
neutral field
[2015] Trenton (MI) 31, [2015] Huron (New Boston, MI) 21
This seems about right. Huron can win but will have to play well. Minimize turnovers and play a tougher brand of football.
neutral field
[2015] St. Mary Catholic Central (Monroe, MI) 34, [2015] Clinton (MI) 21
This also seems about right. Clinton will be game and give the Falcons all they can handle. I think its close til the 4th.
neutral field
[2015] Milan (MI) 52, [2015] Chavez Academy [Cesar] (Detroit, MI) 19
This score is the closest it would be. Milan wont get tested til the Regional where it will play a very tough DCD most likely. A winnable game but Milan will have to show a toughness they havent shown in weeks.
-bn
That was in reference to Ida not dominating Jefferson.
I'm all in for SMCC and I generally like Michigan's playoff system. However, I don't think Clinton should have to move up to D6 for playoffs. If there are not enough 6 win teams in a division fill in with high point 5-4 teams. If there are too many 6 win teams in a division drop the lowest point 6 win teams. That will encourage teams to schedule tougher non league opponents. 7 win teams are still guaranteed an invite to the post season.
And I believe they scored late. Milan Smcc and riverview could have all put up 70 on Jefferson
Agree
With so many 8 man football teams now, the MHSAA needs to drop to 7 divisions.
-bn
Bugg is "one fumble away from playing guard".
-bn
Ida would not get throttled in the HL this season. They would compete for the crown. Most years they would finish around 4th or so.
-bn
Bugg from Ida is built like a fire hydrant.
-bn
I wouldnt say Ida's backs are fast, big yes, but not fast.
-bn
My point was for the guy who said Ida would get throttled in the Huron League.
Calpreps has Ida 28 SMCC 27. I don't think they win in a real game face to face. We shall know after Regionals.
Yes Ida is for real! I hope they go far in the play offs. Good for them, great season. The Huron League may be tougher competition but
That doesn't mean that Ida would struggle.
Ida is a big fast and experienced team with a veteran coach. calpreps.com projected wins for Ida over everyone in the Huron League in 2015. That doesn't really mean anything other than you really don't know football.
Ida is very very good. Big line fast backs and a seasoned veteran football coach.
I have an old pair of underwear that Chris would call a "seasoned veteran." They too have not won anything. Being old doesn't make you wise, it just makes you old.
Opportunities it was 50-15 lol. They had one long run in the first quarter. Clinton doesn't play the schedule cc does. They will roll them again.
Ida would get throttled in the Huron league by Milan Smcc the view. Possibly Huron. They play nobody.
11:55 here. Ithaca doesn't play losing teams none conference.
On another note CC. Be humble and don't over look an opponent. Clinton had opportunities last year and you had to make some key stops. Riverview why doubt go kick AP in the mouth. Huron buckle up, Hartwick be a leader. Milan turn on the engines and roll Red roll! Believe Huron league…….Believe!!!!!!!
3:20 – Milan pounded riverview this year with two captains and two of the best two way players in the league out the whole game, Tyler Chase is good and would have changed the game but not enough to win. Milan is the second best team in the huron league this year
Potato's or chewing gum?
And Smcc pounded Trenton this year in the preseason scrimmage. It was ugly. Very winnable game for new Boston.
We are the redskins but in Clinton we call ourselves the BIGREDS!!
I thought Clinton was the Redskins?
I said it before. Texas has the best playoff system. Every school is placed into a district (league). These districts change a bit every 3 or 4 years based on enrollment numbers and success. Most districts have 8 teams in them. The top 3 teams from each district make the playoffs. All the teams that make the playoffs are then put in order based on enrollment. They are then divided into 12 divisions. 6A Big School is the largest, then 6A small school, then 5A Big School and so on. The neat thing about this is that Texas allows 10 regular season games. Only the seven league games count toward the playoffs. This allows for some really cool things. One it allows for rivalry games to be played even if schools end up in different districts. The best thing it does, is allow for great teams to play each other. For example, you will see the #1 team in Texas play the #2 team and three play four and things like that. They will play 8 huge games at the Alamo Dome every year in week 1. Teams like this because a loss doesn't effect the playoffs. The only thing they do that I don't like is that they separate public and parochial. My older brother who lives in Converse , TX (Home of the powerful Judson Rockets that have won multiple state titles) tells me that most players prefer to play or go to public schools. He isn't sure why. He said the public schools for the most part have better programs. I think Texas does it this way because the state is so big and there are so many big cities. If you get a chance and are interested, just do a google search of Texas 6 A football or Texas high school football stats. You would be amazed at what you will see. It's like college.
Tennessee is the same way.
#9 Dad
Chris, Texas' system sounds good but I haven't coached there so I can't say if I totally like it. I've coached in Indiana when everyone made the playoffs and that watered down the experience. I played in Michigan when it was the Wild Card system and I think that was unfair when 8-1 teams didn't make the playoffs in Class B but 3-6 Class D teams got in.
I remember when Michigan moved to the win 6 and in, Farmington Hills Harrison got in at 5-4. They went on to win a state championship. So, I believe the current system is fair. But, the Texas system is appealing at least from a ln outside perspective.
Here in Colorado each class has its own format which seems good, but they just haven't figured out what to do with 5A. There's also a push for private school to be separate, but only 3 private schools play big school football and there's only about 20 other private schools with football.
The Texas model can work for Michigan and I agree that it would be best to keep public and private together.
Clinton has got the size up front to shut down Smccs offense this year. Clinton 35 Smcc 21.. Bigredsrock…
Summerfield isn't Riverview and Manchester isn't Milan.
SMCC 42 Clinton 13
Clinton will beat Smcc this year. We are ready and we will pound at you all game.. We been waiting for this all year.. Bigredsrock… Not impressed with Smcc this year..
Told ya.
@ 11:55 AM
For your playoff format to work, leagues would have to change dramatically. Right now, you have "leagues" like the Great Western Conference with 3 teams. So, the league champ gets in based on 2 games?
On the other hand you have the MAC with 36 schools. They can't all play each other, so who gets in? Do you take each division champ? Then it's the winner of 5 games. But you will have to let every league that has divisions send their division champ to the playoffs. Now you would allow the Michigan Metro Red Division champ in. That division consists of Melvindale Bus. & Tech, Ecorse and Detroit Allen. None of these teams would even come close to winning a game in the Huron League.
There are too many schools, too many leagues of different numbers and too many traditional rivals to break things up to even out the leagues. I coach in Colorado and 5A (schools over 1500 students) football is going to a waterfall approach for leagues. Every 2 years, the schools will be ranked 1 to 49 and placed into 8 separate leagues with 1 through 8 in each league and 9 through 16 in the next slot and so on. It will work because there are so few schools and leagues have been changing every 2 years for the past 20 years anyway so there are very few rivals. But you don't want this in Michigan. No one shows up to games because there is nothing personal about it. A blog like this can never exist here because people don't have loyalty to their schools and don't have deep seated resentment toward their rivals. 🙂
Michigan's playoff system is the best I have witnessed. Don't mess with it.
Here are my hot takes for week 1:
Huron vs. Trenton:
On paper they're outmatched here. Trenton beat a pair of playoff teams (Lincoln Park, Wyandotte Roosevelt) and lost by 9 to a good Allen Park squad. They've only beaten one other team with a winning record (Carlson), but have won in convincing fashion against everyone outside of Roosevelt and Allen Park. Huron hasn't beaten any team with a winning record this season. Even though I think they're better than their 5-4 record and Trenton isn't as good as their 8-1 record, I still think Trenton will take this one comfortably.
Riverview vs. Allen Park:
In my opinion, Riverview is the second best team in the Huron League. Yes yes Milan beat them, I know, but I think if they played again it would be interesting. This Allen Park squad has the essentially the same resume as Trenton: beating a pair of playoff teams (Lincoln Park, Trenton) and losing by 9 to a good Roosevelt squad. Compare that to Trenton – though losing to AP, beat Roosevelt in OT by 1. So basically, AP and Trenton are about the same level – good teams that beat teams handily, beating two good playoff teams close, while dropping a close one to a similarly sized playoff team. I think Riverview showed they have what it takes, and will beat AP in a close one.
Milan vs. Cesar Chavez:
Milan got a fantastic draw. Cesar Chavez got crushed against Ida (14-63) and DCD (6-70). While those teams are both pretty darn good this year, those are some embarrassing losses. They're 7 wins are against: 2 winless teams, a 1-8 team, a 3-6 team, a 6-3 D8 team, and 2 close wins against the same 5-4 D6 school. Not great. Milan should dominate this one.
SMCC vs. Clinton:
You gotta feel for Clinton, man. They go 9-0 and STILL have to go on the road. It sucks but that's the difference between playing Class C/D teams vs. playing Class A/B teams all year. It's hard to predict against SMCC when they're up against Clinton, as they're 6-0 all time against the Redskins. However, Clinton is likely improved from last year, which is hard to say for SMCC. I expect a closer match than we saw last year, but still SMCC on top.
Clinton got pushed up into D6, they were ranked in d7 all year. That will be a good game.
You can't play in a league as a D6 school against D7 and D8 schools and gain enough points for home field. That is why Clinton is on the road. They need to put bigger schools on their schedule to get more win points. SMCC plays a D3 D4 D5 schedule and gets more win points. There is something to be said for playing a tough schedule. They should change the 6 and in and get rid of the pre-district game. Take all league champions and then highest points from each division after that. Then more schools will play each other instead of looking for a weak link to beat and get to 6 wins.
St. Francis and JLC in D6 with SMCC, Ithaca, NPC, Montague. Mian can win district. Riverview and Huron tough districts. Good luck to all!!!!!! Represent !
SMCC folks better not be taking Clinton too lightly. They will bite you hard if you are not ready. They have 2 very good running backs that will gash you at any time.
Detroit News picks Lansing CC to win D5. My interpretation being that wasn't as bad a loss as some of my CC friends thought. The news also has SMCC losing a rematch to Ithaca. I believe some blog writer I know gave that same prediction preseason. Who could that have been? LOL. EM
Blah Blah Blah play the game Friday and lets see who wins the districts in two weeks..quit your so certain predictions and no crying on Nov 6 esp Milan lol
Sounds like your the only one crying with the bla bla bla!
Smcc will win, Milan will win, Huron will lose and riverview will lose. This is going to be the way it goes, I'm 100% sure
Denby has one good win over Rennassaince.
DCD lost to UD Jesuit in week 2 (23-13).
Inside Job…216 automatically qualified for playoffs and 40 5-4 teams made the rest. SMCC had more playoff pts than their opponent is why they have a home game. No easy draws including Milan especially has only won two districts since 2000 last in 2007.
Clinton got a tough draw again traveling to Navarre Field. But hey 9-1 is a good season for them.
Milan did get an excellent draw. I know DCD is pretty good. My opinion is Milan has really one tough game and then it's clear up till Zeeland West. I think we can beat DCD, just have to play well. Don't want to look ahead but Milan did get a great draw.
Good luck to the other 3 as well. Trenton is not as good as Park, so both RV and Huron got a great chance for a Huron League regional. Chelsea will be tough though. I wish them all, SMCC too, the best and hope all 4 can make a statement for this league.
#9 Dad
Riverview is running the T now so how much do they really need to throw?
Playoff points won't change.
Don't think Clinton would be in the Top 4 in the Huron League
Are the playoff points recalculated after playoff game or are they set now for the rest of the way?
Im not sure clinton plays any class B teams. SMCC and MHM play a host of them.
-bn
Not likely, but how cool for the league would a Huron/View Regional be…
Chris, MHM is a GREAT team. Power football out of a rural squad.
-bn
Milan gets a laugher for a district. DCD will await in the regional final.
SMCC gets Clinton who will be VERY eager to have another go at the Falcons.
Huron can beat Trenton but I dont think they can beat Chelsea, this all of course if they avoid beating themselves.
Riverview gets a tough draw in P but if they were to get by them you never know.
Good luck to all the teams! Represent!

I understand that. I'm just a bit surprised that 9-0 Clinton doesn't get a home game.
Yea you would think they would have enough points at 9-0 to host a play off game. Weird.

Their league has 3 D8 teams and 2 D7 teams.
Chris you know how SMCC got the home game, they had more playoff points…
Wonderful. We gotta listen to those loudmouths from Clinton invading the blog again this year. Lord, help us.
I see the DB's are out all ready.
SMCC will beat Clinton. MH Madison gave Ithaca a game last year.
I think Trenton would have rather played Romulus.
Milan got a great draw.
Milan should be in a regional championship this year. Chris do you know who DCD lost to?

Wow Huron, can't believe it they shouldn't be in they were terrible this year
I'm happy for Matt. He is such a great kid and a great player. Maybe Huron can build off this. Despite the record they have, 2 years in a row making the playoffs.

Horrible? 3 of their 4 losses came from the top 3 teams in the league. And GI held their own as well against everyone and they contended. Don't be an ass. Congratulate and move on.

Collegiate Prep is the worst 9-0 team you will ever see. Chavez lost to Ida 63-14. Chavez will throw the ball every down.
How good is this Denby team?

Nevermind Chris. You answered my previous question about Milan's district. You really think Clinton could beat SMCC? EM
I think Huron could get by Trenton all depends on the play of the qb Hartwick
Props to Huron making it in. Good for that program, good for the league.
The top downriver league teams are all quality. Allen Park will handle riverview because riverview cannot throw the ball. Playing Wyandotte, Lincoln park, and Trenton will have Allen park prepared.
Huron vs Trenton, rematch of a very entertaining offensive shootout. Riverview could give Allen Park some trouble. Not familiar with the teams in Milan's district, how good is Cesar Chavez and Collegiate Prep? I think SMCC rolls in their district. EM
Wow it looks like a lot of 5-4 teams make it in this year….. That's crazy! I think as long as Riverview plays like they did at river rouge they can beat Allen park.
