Here is my early August predictions for records around the Huron League this season. These are listed in alphabetical order and records include non-league games.
Airport 4-5
Flat Rock 1-8
Grosse Ile 5-4
Huron 6-3
Jefferson 2-7
Milan 8-1
Riverview 7-2
SMCC 6-3
Actually Huron lost to the New England Patriots in the semi finals last season.
So nobody will give SMCC anything based on last year's accomplishments? That's how it goes in football? Shouldn't you be saying the same thing about Huron? Listening to everyone on this blog, Huron could beat the New England Patriots based on last year's season. Sheesh!
Hope smcc loses every game….
You should know by now that CC is not the fan favorite of many on this blog. With the loss of Giarmo, they are taking a hit there and that will effect them greatly. Huron has many returning players from last years run and same coach with a new plan. So yes, Huron has potential to go into this season the same way they went thru last season.

Jefferson needs to stay healthy because they don't have good depth…a lot of two way guys. If they can stick together and play their best football as a unit, as a team….they could be a 4-5 win team in my opinion. Returning senior QB, returning 2 year letterman lineman, returning two defensive stud letterman who stood out at sophomores, good receiving core with the addition of their new tight end.
Jefferson returns their QB 3 oline guys and sovey…they'll be better. I see them at 4-5 5-4..
Jefferson will go 9-0 they have the best mlb in the league -bs
Should be the most exciting and competitive season in a long time. This year is up for grabs for probably about 6 teams the way I see it! I can't wait for it to start. JS
Jefferson will be 9-0 they have the best quarterback in the leauge

It's hard to finish 7-2 when you can't catch a pass during warm ups…

this made me laugh!

I don't think they can compete with 1-6 right now. They have good numbers, but graduated quite a bit. Obviously a lot can happen in a year, but I will no more when I do my research. I think they can beat FR and Owosso.

Chris you mentioned last year you thought that Jefferson was doing good things and looked like they were heading in the right direction. Just Curious why you think they will have the same record as last year. I think the league will be tight top to Bottom myself but curious of your thoughts
Who do you have Jefferson beating?
It's stange to see people predicting Huron. For so many years they were terrible. When I playyed in the 80's Huron was a sure win so we always scheduled them for our homecoming game. I'm happy to see them finally playing to their potential after all of these years.
@147 every team starts 0-0! Nobody is going to give CC anything on last years accomplishments. That's how it goes in football.
As always, nice job Chris: We'll know real early how things are going to shake out – as Riverview travels to SMCC and hosts Milan in their first two league games of the year.
I think it's a toss up on who wins the league. You have to take one game at a time. I think it's all about match ups.

Right now 4 or 5 wins seems about right for Airport. They will be the underdogs vs Milan, Huron, Riverview & CC. I believe they beat Adrian, Jefferson & FR. The GI and Tecumseh games seem like toss ups. EM
Not crazy to think SMCC will take a dip this year. They're not losing quite as much after the 2011 runner-up class, but still losing key two-way players (Windham, Lako). Add in a loss of one heck of a head coach and that's not an easy pill to swallow. I think 6-3 would be a win for SMCC with that transition. They'll have to adapt, hopefully they do so smoothly, but anything over 6 wins would be surprising.
I probably am nuts.
You're nuts Chris! SMCC is the favorite until somebody knocks them off. Milan doesn't have the depth. Huron and Riverview won't be as good as last season. Airport will most likely surprise everyone with a great defense and their usual running game.
If CC is better than 6-3, I would be completely shocked. I put SMCC at 9-0 5%, 8-1 10%, 7-2 15%, 6-3 30%, 5-4 20%, 4-5 10%, 3-6 5%, 2-7 3%, 1-8 1.8%, 0-9 1.2%

Huron wins the league Chris.. It is ok to pick them.

Riverview beat Milan 21-7 last season. Riverview lost some very valuable pieces, but does return some very good players and they also had a good JV squad. Milan has probably the best back in the league and other than him may start a senior at virtually every position on the field. With that said, I like Riverview's match up against Milan and maybe not so much against a few other league teams.
Lindeman has been working his butt off this off season he is up about 15 pounds and faster than ever. Rumor has it Milan has a good line this year so I see them competing against everyone they play this year.
it will be interesting because there are 4 very good teams in the league & the rest are not too bad
Milan in 1st place? Riverview beat them no problem last season.
Three winnable games for Flat Rock. They'll win all three and then upset someone to finish at 4-5.
I would say that there are 2 winnable games on the schedule and they will split those.
Flat rock have a good chance of going 3-5 Hazel Park have Been 0-18 in the last 2 years and summit was 1-7 and Jefferson is a good chance as well
