Carleton Airport Preview

Airport is coming off of consecutive losing seasons for the first time since the 1996-97 seasons. The Jets finished last season with a 4-5 record, but there is cause for optimism as several key players return for 3rd year Head Coach Chad Baas.

The offense for the Jets will be led by senior RB Dylan Meiring who rushed for nearly 1,500 yards last season. Bryce Cole returns at quarterback for the Jets and will have a big target at TE in junior Brent Mossburg. The offensive line will be led by senior Derek Woodley.

The defense will be led by two seniors in LB Jake Fahnestock and safety Austin Patterson. Look for a big year from junior LB Justin Gorteski.

The Jets open at home with Adrian and then will travel to New Boston  to take on Huron in the first game of league play the following week. Prediction: 5-4

  1. They gave up 27 a game last season. By comparison SMCC gave up 8.7, GI 16.2, Riverview 17.8 and Huron 19.

Kudos however to Airport for scheduling tough non league games.

  2. Improve from last year they held smcc to 28 and huron yo 21, you most not know much about huron league football EM.

    1. Chances are I forgot more about Huron league football than you'll ever know. They gave up 45 vs Milan, 34 vs GI, and 34 vs Riverview. EM

  3. Mossburg could have a big year on both sides of the ball. I believe the Oline will start 4 underclassmen, hopefully they jell early. Goretski will be one of the top LB's in the league. Hopefully the defense as a whole is improved from last year. EM
