Both teams are coming off of losses in week 3. Flat Rock (0-3) fell to Grosse Ile 42-7 while Airport (2-1) was dealt their first loss of the season by Riverview, 34-19. Airport won last seasons game 49-7 and have won 12 in a row in the series.
Flat Rock started out well last week on offense, but turnovers hurt them in the first half. The defense hasn’t really been able to stop anyone in the league. It doesn’t get any easier as Airport will run the ball all night.
Airport’s Robbie McGrath had a really nice game last week. Look for three backs to carry the ball a lot this week. The defense was shredded a bit last week by Riverview, but should rebound against the Rams.
I just don’t see this being much of a game although this is a good rivalry. Flat Rock seems to be improved this season, but you haven’t been able to tell the last two weeks. Airport needs another win in hopes of getting to six and qualifying for the playoffs. Prediction: Airport 42 Flat Rock 6
Flat Rock going independent will not help. All it will show to the kids is if you cant do something, try something easier. Flat Rock is on a path to getting better. Coach O cant make all these changes in a few short years. Keep fighting Rams, your on the right track, just don't give up. Always fight and play for each other.

3 things looked like 4 to me LOL
I think Airport can beat GI, will be a good game though. I like #20 for Airport, not sure who he is.

Airport won't get in..they're going to be 4-5/5-4..who else do they beat? GI will beat them. Huron will beat them, SMCC will destroy them. Then they have to worry about Tecumseh. That's 4-5 right there.
Airport has a shot vs GI Huron Milan & Tecumseh. They could win or lose all of those games.
This game puts air 3-1. FR needs to come out healthy for an 0-4 matchup with Jeff..
If your boy OC wants to get things rolling he needs to do 3 things.
1. Fire most of his staff. They have some terrible coaches.
2. Have the junior high teach fundamentals. I see kids in 11th grade that can't tackle
3. Start his own junior football program to gain FR interest.
4. FIRE MOST OF HIS STAFF. HE HAS 3 coaches worth while.
Kalby did a great job, but he didnt' start the Huron Little League that fell in his lap. Huron is UNDERACHIEVING with all their talent. Huron also gained 250 kids from the time he started. They belong in the League. When he started league teams were smaller.
1. Read the internet News Herald section of the paper, they didn't pick FR it was a misprint.
2. Here is what is going to happen at FR. It's going to be a nightmare. Kids are and have already started to leave because the administration places zero emphasis on Football. I know because I try to attend all Ram athletic events when im not on the road. I never see the AD, who is the AD? I'll get back to Night mare in a moment
3. Chris says they need to change the culture. THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE HURON LEAGUE. They don't have the kids to pick from. The kids on the edge aren't coming out because they know what's going to happen. I bet if FR played in the LCAA or independent they'd go 3-6 or 4-5 this year and that would be HUGE SUCCESS. YOU CAN BUILD ON THAT. NOT 7 running clocks. GO independent and come back to the league. NO HL team is getting better by playing FR so why wouldn't the AD's let them leave and come back just for football?
4. Here is your nightmare. If a change of league isn't made you're going to see some good 6th 7th 8th and 9th graders leave. That is going to hurt all athletics. Now kudos to T.O. he has done everything he can to keep the kids in town. Younger kids look up to him and love him, but their parents want their kids to compete. I want my kids to play for him, but I want them to be in a situation to compete. Watching my son play with 21 kids against schools with 900 kids ..maybe they only have 27 on their roster, but out of the 27 17 can play..out of FR's 21 4 can play….GIVE them 3 years in a different league or independent and watch the program grow. T.O. Coach Mul Coach chick and the whole staff at FR wants it to happen badly the guys bleed green and gold and i know T.O. puts his heart into it but he has no chance right now.
5. At some point if they don't change at FR they're going to find new coaches. The town is going to turn against T.O if the losing continues and that isn't fair to him.
6. Bringing in a new coach will be like a carousel every 2-3 years you'll be spinning it and finding a new one.
7. KC you are right with a lot of your comments. Look at the game Friday. There were over 1,500 people there to support them. The city is involved i promise. FR had their best weight room numbers in years according to chris. They just need some success then they'll belive in the offseason and get those extra kids out and those kids that want to lift weights all year round.
8. I went to a catholic school where athletics were 1a with academics. I want FR to be the same place. Like I said if changes aren't made with schedule then you're going to see a ton of kids leaving and I bet the coach will leave shortly after!
Coaching at Flat rock has to be a hard job. They always seem to be improving on their Varsity team, but always with Sophomores and Juniors. That kind of tells you what a Coach has to look forward to each year. This team has shown flashes of really good play in all three of their games. Problem is, they were only flashes and then the rest of the game they couldn't sustain. Give the Coaches some credit here, they're doing the best they can with what they're given each year. This may be a blow out, but it won't be because the Players and the Coaches gave up. It's just that they need some Senior leadership and experience for a year or two to make them a contender in this league.
Ok so i'm sitting in my living room reading today's News Herald sports page & i see 1 of the writers picked Flat Rock over Airport and i literally laughed out loud.
Airport looks to get back on track with CC coming to town next week. Airport 49-7. EM
Meiring will probably run the ball a ton in the 1st half and make it 28-0…FR will score late final 40-12
FR FOOTBALL IS NOT GOOD. IT WILL NEVER BE GOOD. IT HAS NEVER BEEN GOOD. THEY WON'T WIN IN THE LEAGUE UNTIL THEY HAVE SUCCESS WHICH ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. THE BEST THING T.O. AND THE STAFF HAVE DONE IS GET THE KIDS OUT TO PLAY AND PLAY HARD. I COULDN'T IMAGINE THEM GOING INTO EACH KNOWING THEY'RE GOING TO LOSE
Wow. You kind of just sh*t On every single kid on that team as if no matter how hard they try, they won't amount to nothing.. shame on you. But then again, what can you expect from someone who has a lot to say but doesn't put a name.. Easy to talk behind anonymity.
Your comment is just disgusting. Flat Rock has had their years and they in past have challenged teams and are now starting off where Huron did before Kalby came along.
It all starts with the coaching. You need a good coach who will crack down on these kids, pound the fundamentals into their skulls, and encourage them they have the same opportunity to win as any other team in this league does. Work with them on and off the field. And push them to do better! If he is doing all that and some then it goes to the players.
If these players want to be good, contend and win; they have to give 100% on and off the field. Get in the gym 2 hours a day. Lift weights. Go above and beyond your own expectations and succeed your goals. Watch and study your positions through tutorials online. Read different offenses and defense. Ask questions if you dont understand. Pad up with a buddy and practice hitting drills and run different plays off the field and study the game of football.
Flat Rock has had success in the past and they've just hit a wall where they just need a good kick in the ass. You coming here and saying they can't do this or that is just utter bullsh**. They have a future but a future takes time and practice and believe it or not, FAN SUPPORT. The fans in the crowd and on this blog are their motivation to do better or work harder. If you ever strapped up and went on to a field, you'd know the motivation I speak of that comes from the fans hooting and hollering. It's a team effort; parental effort and CITY effort to get this team to contend. Everyone in Flat Rock has to work together to see success and I believe they will.
I don't need to hide my name to go with my comment.

FR starts 3 Sophomore LB's that should be on the JV. A freshman DT and 2 Sophomore corners. That is why they are thin on defense. That will improve. If the kids stick around and buy into the program then they will be much better next year. I still think they can beat Stockbridge or play close with Jefferson. Big thing is that kids aren't quitting. They play hard every week.
Even Jefferson is 2-3 TD's better than them after seeing them. Jefferson is bigger stronger and faster. FR is going in the right direction…but slowly
I said they seem to be improved this year. You don't think so? They are bigger and faster this season. The offense actually seems capable of scoring. They are simply over matched still. I have said that from the beginning. I picked them to be 1-8. I really thought they would sneak GR and they almost did. They can't compete in the league yet, but there is some talent. They coaching is adequate. They are doing the right things. They just need to change the culture and some more time.
Yeah I don't see them improving at all. I see more offense, but tackling is still an issue. Don't get it.
Chrfis, Every week you say Flat Rock is improving. Exactly what aspect of the game of football are you talking about cause I just don't see it?
