Players to Watch?

Okay Huron League fans, throw out the names of some impact players for your team this season. Please list name, grade, school and position. Try and give some other details as well.

  1. fR has no business playing these teams yet but maybe in 4 or 5 years……if Huron does not steal all their good talent. They should reject school of choice

  2. Jefferson AT BEST will start out 1-3. Im guessing that will be the end of this Jefferson talk from the fans. Remember when they were supposed to be good that one year? BACK TO THE BEACH!!

  3. Thats fine, no problem being the underdog at Jefferson. Thats how Milan used to be treated on here. Look at them now.

    GO BEARS !

Watch out for Jefferson, they have several starters coming back. This years juniors will be very stout as seniors, plus this will be the 2nd year of the new coaching regime.
No need to put names out there, they will win as a team, no one singled out.

bn, work on the spelling, your gonna name them, at least spell them right.

Hey buddy before you yell at BN to work on his spelling learn to write complete sentences, and it's YOU'RE!! Like YOU'RE dreaming from Detroit Beach!
Jefferson needs to get back to Dbl Tight Off Tackle Football!

    You got it buddy, thanks.

  6. Is it bad if I think Jefferson and Flat Rock are going to be worse than they were last year? Jefferson lost a ton of kids and their stud RB Sandore. FR lost Radclife and their QB. I dont' see either of them being able to compete.

  8. Airport should have a strong backfield with Dylan Meiring, Robbie McGrath & Keagan Brinson. Eddie Smith should have a strong year on the DLine. EM

    1. Loads of talent as always, but will it be used properly? It certianly wasn't last year. The HL better hope they don't get a coach in there that knows how to win, if they do look out.

    2. I'm gonna give Baas the benefit of the doubt and say it was a rookie coach taking his lumps. It has happened to every coach in the league his first year.

    3. Where did Baas coach before Airport? Did he win? Somebody told me he never coached football before last year. If that's the case there may be many rookie seasons ahead.

    4. This will be a very telling year for Baas. Airport has enough talent to compete for the league title. Another 3 or 4 win season might put him on the hot seat. EM

  9. As a Milan player, it was nice not having to worry about Mitroka when we played GI. It just allowed us to key on other guys. But I don't see the result being a whole lot different if he played.

  10. Ryan Faulkner O and D Lineman, Senior
CJ Duffiney Safety and Receiver, Senior
    Trace Lindeman tailback, Sophomore

    All from Milan

  11. I agree, GI is not a one man team whatsoever. It seems like I say this every year but the league will again be tough. I think all teams will be better than last year. Except for maybe Riverview and Milan, who will still be good.

    1. Grosse Ile:
      MITROKA (that's all)

I think we all saw what happened after he got hurt last year. Not deep at all!

    2. We had 16 varsity players out at one point during the season, 1 player does not make a championship caliber team. We have an extremely talented team this year, watch out.

    3. I was at the game vs. SMCC. Mitroka got hurt right before halftime. They were competitive offensively in the first half and could not do anything in the 2nd. Completely different team. Nobody cares if they had 16 guys out while playing teams in the bottom half of the league. Can they play with Milan or CC, that is all that matters.

  12. I think from SMCC the only one that really qualifys as a 2 year starter is Windham. He has done a good job for them. The other kids who were listed Im sure are good athletes but they have big shoes to fill and a lot to prove yet. So slow down and be patient before you get ahead of yourself.

  13. I think giving recognition to deserving players is a good thing. I think partly that is what this blog is about or should be about.

I just named some of the good players over at SMCC. I expect those players(and more) to have an impact on this upcoming season.

And where was I critical of anyone wanting to name only 2 year starters?

If this blog has proved anything, its that people will complain about anything.

  14. How about a simple list of returning players that were 1st and 2nd team All League from last year? You could include any transfer students that were 1st and 2nd team from their respective leagues.

  15. Really bn, you name 19 St. Marys players and your critical of the guy who just wants to name two year starters!!!!!!

  16. Well chris you have now been given the criteria from the master. His kid must fall in this category. The only teams to even play 20 games is Milan and GI but I'm guessing this guy is from grosse ile. I guess mitroka can't be considered because he doesn't have 20 games in. Lighten up Francis

  17. Huron League Players to watch-must have already been a two year starter, players with a minimum of at least 20 varsity game starts-not decent to good players with some game experience who in a year may make this list like some of these names. Got it Chris now name them, very few. I told you parents can't help themselves on these topics. Not interested in some dad naming 19 St. Marys kids.

  18. Lako, Courtier x2, Hilkens, Carrabino, Howey, Vuitch, Windham, Lamour, Miller, Robinson, MCmillen, Bausman, Woolford, Martin, Knezavich, Chamberlain, Blanchette, Lehmann…

    Who did I miss?

Dont really have stats on these guys… but I do know they are all above average to very good football players.

  19. CJ Duffiney. Has potential to be a two-time 1st team def player and possibly state recognition. Strong smart and will impose his presence on defense. Just hope he's not misused fo offense

  20. Airport just had a new kid move in after break. Dad was transferred by UPS from Nashville, TN to metro Airport. His last name I believe is Sanders. I don't know a first name. He is supposedly a pretty good running back, but I don't know any specifics.

  21. Chris, your only asking for trouble with this topic. You know parents they can't help themselves. Really this would have been much better had you just named a few.

  22. Not to be boastful but there are just too many to name at SMCC. Could probably say the same at Huron and Riverview.
