    1. I thought his numbers easily grabbed him a first team spot that's all. He earned an all region spot so congrats to him. He could be a force next year.

  1. Wow. Snubbed josh colville. He quietly overachieved with tremendous numbers. I thought he deserved to be first team. He will most likely be the outright best linebacker next year. Keep an eye on him

  2. I know this isn't the first team selection for defense cause eric randall did not make first team n nick scully made second team defense. Max blackburn?

  3. I have heard some talk on here in the past about a Downriver Youth basketball league. Does that still exist? Chris, I believe u were involved in that somehow at one point. I have some kids looking to play and was hoping for some information. I havent been able to find anything. I would be grateful for any help.

  4. As a parent you don't want props for your kid unless its deserved. And I will tell you that when our school played they were told which kids to double team and who were threats. So don't worry about if you were not picked or mentioned because sometimes its the kids who don't get the most tackles or recognition they deserve that are the biggest assests to the team because that leaves your average player open to make mistakes because your better one was getting tagged teamed. Sadly now a days only the scouts and coaches see the little things.

  5. I am an avid reader of this blog and a SMCC fan. I do agree that #44 should have been noticed but its not my blog so I don't get a say. But what I can tell you is that Jack has told the kids and their parents to not read all the blogs and all the crap said on here about them and their team. So most of this falls on deaf ears and only us fans get to say our peace.

  6. Better look again at your stats smcc fan as he was not the second leading tackler. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As Chris has stated these are just his choices.

  7. Yea, I think we forget that the blog isn't just for fans, it is for the kids too.

Mom and dad have a tendency to want props for their kids. I get that, but I really don't have a dog in the fight. Sure 32 of my track kids play football for Huron but I try and separate it. I think over the years I have been able to do that.

Do I miss some kids that should get a mention? Sure I do, but it is never intentional.

I would love to see the blog get better. It would help if teams posted their stats online. Maxpreps makes it really easy for everyone. Riverview, GI, Milan and Huron all post their stats there. If everyone did that, I would post a widget on the blog that would have the league leaders in every stat category. That would make the blog more fun and allow fans to see who really produces.

  8. I believe Couturier was the second leading tackler on the team as a sophomore so I'm pretty sure Chris made the right pick.

  9. Riverview, Milan, Airport and SMCC really have no business in the Huron League. If SMCC is that good they should compete in the Catholic League and play against those schools all season.

  10. Folks! Lets just talk about all these fantastic football players mentioned. I love getting info. on teams and player from this blog. I hate all the name calling and other crap that unfortunately seems to make its way on here.

  11. 10:03 – Ditto! I honestly value Chris' picks more than the official all-league. He sees every player and team through a pretty unbiased lens. THANK YOU, Chris for all of your hard work and insight.

    1. You know who remembers that the View scored 49 points against them? The View! Becaise they weren't competitive against any other playoff caliber team. Biggest school in a small league! #moralvictories

  12. what a joke Chris you must not have seen to many cc games cause number 44 was a lot better and than that courtier or what ever his name is ask some cc people who led that defense.

  13. Correct Chris they won that game but there defense, in particular, their defensive backs were terrible. While the entire defense was not good they gave up at least two long TD passes and couldn't cover anyone.

    1. From all of the games I saw other then Milan and SMCC none of you had defenses. Luckily Chris is a nice guy and put some of your players on anyway.

  14. Windham from CC had 6 interceptions including 2 pic 6's. I find it hard to believe that
there are 4 better defensive backs.

  15. Chris – I have enjoyed reading the blog the last couple years. I think these are deserving young men and you did a great job with your picks. KDR
