Both teams are coming off of victories this past week. Airport (3-3) defeated a depleted Grosse Ile team 27-7 while Huron (2-4) upended Jefferson 48-34. Airport won last year’s game in Carleton 14-13 and have won 28 in a row in the annual series.
The Airport offense has been clicking recently, teams must account for both the Jet’s passing and running attacks. Defensively, the Jets are giving up a meager 16 ppg in league play and have been opportunistic forcing some turnovers.
Huron’s offense has averaged 43 ppg over the last two contest but the defense has been giving up points as well. Huron QB Eli Scott should return from injury after missing the Jefferson game last week although sophomore QB Matt Hartwick stepped in and did a fine job.
Airport needs this win to keep their playoff hopes alive while Huron hopes to still finish with a winning record and stop the losing streak to Airport that dates back to 1984. Pick: Huron 23 Airport 21
Airport 28 Huron 24 EM
Seems like everyone forgot there was actually a game to be played tonight. Next years Airport team and "the league's biggest rivals" aside Airport wins tonight 21-28. Huron's lack of run defense will prove to be the difference.
FR/Huron is a big rivalry. Just look at the attendance when they play. Not just football, look at boys and girls basketball and even volleyball. Big Crowds!
GI vs View is def biggest rivalry no doubt
Pollard is a senior this year, not a junior. Which could prove to be a big lose for the team seeing the program lacks someone to kick extra points.
The 9:40PM post… Its apparent that whoever is giving the opinion about the JV QB not being able to throw 20 yards, doesn't know squat. The QB next year will most likely be a Junior currently starting on Varsity Defense, and one of the better athletes on the team. The junior class has several athletes, that are gaining varsity experience this year. McGrath, Page, Pollard, Smith, Meyering, Turner, and a few others will prove ya wrong. Its a shame you think they lack athletes, the next two years at Airport will be pretty exciting.
Some of these posts are hilarious.
bn,
Flat Rock and Huron isn't much of a Rivalry anymore. They're all buddy buddy with eachother LOL. Anyone remember the Conner and Weclowski scuffle during the basketball game? Pure rivalry. Sad to see its gone

Divisions are based on the teams that make the playoffs. Every 6-3 and higher team gets in. Some 5-4 teams get in. The schools are then broken down into divisions based on enrollment. The top 12.5% would be D1, the next 12.5% D2, and so on and so on for 8 divisions."
Chris answered just fine.
Why so arrogant? What because you guys beat a team, with half of its key players missing, who still competed against you; or because you beat a team thats no contest to the league at all; or is it because you narrowly beat your rivals who are 1-5? See you on here Friday after your 3-4.
KC
I'm just stating facts KC. At least we play teams with a pulse most years in weeks 1 and 9. While you guys play the Sisters of the Blind every chance you get. Why is that KC? Btw that 1-5 team just lit up your defense.
View and GI to me are the biggest
Rice Probably has the longest, I wanna say 1986. But who really cares?
Nobody except Airport apparently
GI and View since they are close to each other as well.
Rivals are Jefferson vs SMCC
Huron vs Flat Rock
I would say those are the biggest two

The JV kid at Airport can't throw the ball 20 yds. They lose Dunbar, Jones, McCormick, Bernard, and Urdahl..all of which are solid players..they have a good nucleus, but lack athletes over there..Take away McCormick and Airport has 1 win..
Hey KC the reason Airport got luck of the draw is because of strength of schedule. They played 2 tough non league opponents, something foreign to Huron. The only teams you guys schedule are Summit Annapolis & Crestwood, how about playing somebody with a pulse? Now that your program is respectable you don't always have to play a cupcake in week 1 and 9. Btw I hate to break it to ya but you won't finish 5-4 cause your losing friday to the team you always lose to.
I'm still kinda new to Michigan. Being the first year my kid had played varsity, could someone please explain 2 things to me? One, why are there so many divisions in football here? And 2, who are the rivals? Reading this blog it seems like every team, or fans of each team, can't stand any team but their own. Please help this southern boy out! Thanks.
I wouldn't count 2010 as a playoff run earned. They were 5-4; got luck of the draw. If only Huron was that lucky.

Loaded? They don't have a QB
Loaded at RB OL and defense. You are correct about QB. It will most likely be the kid on JV, he's pretty good. EM
You have a bad case of the wishful thinking. If your jr class is loaded then they would be good now. Not that I don't think you'll be competitive, but let's not use the term"loaded"
Ok maybe loaded isnt the right word. The junior class has quality depth. They have more junior starters than seniors i believe. The defense is gonna be real strong next year up front and thats where games are won and lost. EM
The Airport downward spiral you speak of won't happen till at least 2015. Airports junior class is loaded, they will contend for the league next year. EM
I think that playoff streak is the longest in the state of Michigan. Its worth mentioning. And the players play to preserve it. In alot of ways Airport probably overachieves because of the streak. Remember the Tecumseh game at Airport last year!
Luman Cristi has a playoff streak of 22 years, dating back to the old format. Plus they have a few state titles sprinkled in there, not a bunch of 1 and done.
Where u from 6:25 Got a little Jefferson chip do ya. You the same guy from last week. Get over it. I won't bring up the championship, if you get rid of that chip from when we knocked you on ur @#$. Deal.
It is time for the Airport downward spiral to start NOW!
The playoff streak is in jeopardy even with a win Friday. I doubt they beat both Milan and Tecumseh. Maybe a split would get them in at 5-4, i don't know.
I guess it is safe to assume that you are from FR or Huron. Nope, probably a Jefferson guy still clinging to that state championship 20 years ago.
Can we stop hearing of Airports long playoff streak. They have never won anything or gone far so who cares !!
I'll take Huron 17-14. Should be a hard fought battle between two desperate teams.
Should be a good game. Huron gave up 400 rushing yards vs Jefferson. They can't expect to do that this week and win. EM
