Huron @ Grosse Ile

This appears to be the game of the week in the Huron League. Huron is coming off of a 27-6 win over Summit Academy while Grosse Ile throttled Annapolis  35-6. Grosse Ile won last year’s contest 36-6.

Huron will most likely use a two QB system on offense against the Islanders. The Chief defense will need to be disciplined against what appears to be another great Grosse Ile offense.

The Red Devils offense is led by “do everything” Andrew Mitroka at QB. The defense appears to be solid this season and is led by senior Danny McCarty.

This is a big game for both teams. Huron can find out how good they really are by beating one of the league’s top teams.  Grosse Ile can’t afford an early season loss if they hope to compete with SMCC for the league title. Pick Grosse Ile 28 Huron 20

  1. 12:01 I'm not upset that Chris didn't pick Riverview/Milan as Game of the Week. I am upset that you decided that my opinion wasn't allowed on a public forum.

  2. In Reply to 10:24AM Post: Don't be upset that Riverview wasn't picked as the "Game of the Week". Chris is merely picking Huron @ GI as the "closest matched" game this week. Riverview should have no problem beating Milan this week. Although Milan has some talented players, Milan's team is very small and that will play an important role in tonight's game. Even very talented players get tired when they play both sides of the ball and don't get a break. I personally think Chris is being kind to Milan showing that close of a score. Good Luck to ALL HL players tonight!

  3. I think Huron's depth is a huge advantage for them. I'm just not sure if they can score with GI. Huron's team speed is very good but Mitroka may neutralize that. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Huron won this game. GI must figure out how to handle the two different QB's that Huron will throw at them.

  4. I agree with you Chris that Mitroka and McCarty are fantastic players, but as they say, it takes a village, or in this case, it takes an island. It's a small squad and it will take teamwork and and focus this year for them to come out on top. The majority of this group have played multiple sports together and know one another quite well. With such a small community in their little bubble, they will do what they can not to let their teammates down. There may be hell to pay on Monday morning if someone were to drop the ball, pun intended.
Huron has more depth. They will hit GI's offense hard tonight. It's the only way, as GI's defensive line will be ready for our team. I expect that it may get rough, as Huron wants this win, they need this win for morale.
