Milan @ SMCC

Both teams are coming off impressive victories last week. Milan (4-0) nipped undefeated Grosse Ile last week 21-14 while SMCC (3-1) rolled over previously unbeaten Airport 37-7. The Falcons won last season’s contest 39-14.

Milan contiues to surprise everyone including this bumblehead. Milan has a solid defense and an offense that can run or throw the ball.

SMCC is getting better every week. The Falcons have gotten healthier and the offense has gotten better.

This is a great match up and will go a long way in determining who wins the league. SMCC at home seems like a good pick but Milan keeps making me look foolish. Pick: Milan 24 SMCC 22

  1. OK….Been biting my tongue all season. MILAN IS FOR REAL! THEY ARE NOT IN LAST PLACE AS PREDICTED! THEY HAVE BEATEN SOME OF THE LEAGUES BEST! THE COACHING IS THE FINEST IN THE HURON LEAGUE! THE BOYS ARE DEDICATED! "O" IS STRONG! THE "D" IS STRONGER! THE FANS ARE THE STRONGEST!!! 5-0 BABY! BRING ON OPPONENT #6!!!! "Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" (Dennis Miller)

  2. This should be a good game because both teams are fired up and ready to play a good game of football.

    Lets go SMCC FALCONS!!!!

  3. Yes, I'm referring to the High School Huddle on WTKA. The URL to the station's podcast page is http://www.wtka.com/pages/9395307.php

That said, this year the station really seems to be focusing on the three Ann Arbor public school programs (Pioneer, Huron, Skyline). The levels of priority coverage for the show seem to be as follows:

    1) The A2 public programs (even though 2 of the 3 are currently pretty awful)

    2) The SEC conference teams (more mentions for teams closer to A2 such as Saline, Dexter, and Ypsi Lincoln. Chelsea also gets plenty of mentions, but they are a traditionally strong program. Next to nothing on teams like Bedford and Monroe)

3)Teams in conferences other than the SEC (A2 Gabriel Richard, Manchester, Clinton, Milan, Ypsilanti Willow Run)

Despite this, I still listen to the show via podcast. I go to all the Milan games but I do have an interest in HS football in the area. Feel free to give it a listen and let us all know what you think.

  4. What program on radio covers high school football in this area? Is it High School Huddle at WTKA? When is that broadcast? Or do you have a podcast link you could post?

  5. Thanks to everyone who voted on MLive and AnnArbor.com to make the Milan-SMCC game their Game of the Week.

However, for those who wanted to make Pete Cunningham make the trip to Monroe, that's not going to happen. According to him on his appearance on WTKA radio, they are sending "the New Guy" to the game while he will likely cover another "thrilling" game at A2 Huron or Skyline…

It's always tough for my Big Reds to win at Navarre Field. I'm hoping for another hard fought contest.

  6. I picked against SMCC last week…whooa was I wrong. Airhead took a smack down and Milan is in danger too.

GI is 1-1 aginst these two with both games being close so common sense says it should be tight but I feel a catholic resurgance….running clock again??

  7. I agree, doesn't matter who it is.
SMCC just another team like any other opponent. All the schools need to have that mentality. They are only successful because of their motivation, not their talent.
Many schools out their can beat them if they can be as motivated. Airport wasnt last week, we will see if Milan is this week.

  8. As an outsider and GI parent, I think this will be a good game. I think Milan was really well coached, has some creativity, and knows how to make adjustments. On the flip side, SMCC kids have the fundamentals down. They know their positions well. I think it will come down to which team is gassed late in the game. Who can sub and/or which team is in better condition. I hope the falcons win, but think Milan will eek this one out.

  9. 9:27 post…well said. The more the boys are told they can't do it, the harder they work to prove they can. They are going to fight hard for this win.

  10. It's eather airport was overrated or Smcc loss to GI was the awakening the falcons needed to return to the top well find out tmw for sure

  11. Milan players,

No pressure on you guys…few people in the league believe in you…Yet. But once they know you, they will.

Few expect you to do big things. So, just go out like last week and beat another ranked opponent.

    Doesn't matter who it is.

    This is just opponent #5.

LeClair, Hoover, Kanitz, Fick, Peterson–keep leading that D.

Aceves, Dukes, Williams, and that effective O line will keep driving it.

Series by series, quarter by quarter, you will make the plays.

The scoreboard will do the talking.

    Predictions matter little.
    Performance determines everything!

  12. He is no fool who uses keen insight and wisdom to pick a team 🙂

Ultimately players and coaches determine our fate as predictors.

    Milan by a TD.
